“Fascinating”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

An old medina that can be seen within a few hours. The granaries are pretty and interesting and so is the Mausoleum. The famous gate has to be seen and you can try a great mint tea with orange blossom in the souq or even a camel burger (if you are feeling brave)...

“Average -as far as Medinas go”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

Far smaller and less hassle than the Fes medina, it is worth visiting but it has less impact than other city medinas in Morocco.

“Alladin's cave”

much less hassle than the Medina in Fes - which is bigger but still an absolute must see place. avoid guides like the plague - they will be focussing on their cut of any shopping deal they try to force you in to. It is so easy to find all the high spots yourself, and shopping will be so much more relaxed.

“Easier to get around in than some”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

I enjoyed seeing how each type of craft had its area -- divisions that come from ancient times. Parts of the medina had been destroyed by an earthquake, and have remained so for years.

“Souks Not very interesting but medina residential areas charming”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013 via mobile

We were disappointed with the souks in Meknes, basically full of cheap fake brand clothes for young Moroccans, not much of interest. Enjoyed getting away into the quieter areas of the Medina, some pretty streets. Wish we had gone to the museum Dar Jaima on El Helim Square instead in the time we had.
