“Hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

This cosy warm little restaurant is something we were glad to come across during our stay. It differed from the tourist-style cafes on the main roads and squares, and offered us a more homely environment in which to enjoy a relaxed, private meal without feeling that we were just a business transaction, or "bums on seats". We actually stayed for a couple of hours talking in one of the beautiful enclaves, decorated with moroccan tapestry and mosaic tables. The family who runs it goes about their own things and are relaxed and know what to do- clearly they have been doing this for 30 years and know how to make us feel at home.
Food is good, wholesome and plentiful. Prices are honest and reasonable.
I personally recommend the pastilla, which is a heavy, sweet pastry filled with chicken and strewn with honey and almonds.

“warm welcome, delicious food, but a bit slow service...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

This family run restaurant feels very authentic and welcoming.
The menu is traditional and quite affordable.
As people live in this place, you might find some random object scattered around the place - broken TV, smelly trainers or a bunch of cables.
The service is very slow (even in Moroccan speed times, lol).

“Nice meal, beautiful house.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2012

The restaurant is like that of the traditional guesthouse we are staying in. With it's comfortable cushioned lounges and separate cozy rooms you will feel at home. We ordered the Kebab and Chicken with citron on the menu these were both 80 drm each. They first served us a delicious eggplant salad, this was excellent the eggplant was well smoked and included preserved lemon & white olives accompanied with a fresh heavy wholemeal bread. Then the mains; the Kebab was nice but the meat was a little dry and with very subtle spices, however it was very nice and it disappeared in a few minutes. The chicken with citron was lovely it had caramelised onion, almonds and dates, this was delicious and worth ordering. Immediately after we put our forks down they served us mint tea and cookies these were very nice but it would have been good to have a 10 minute break before they were served. We also ordered a large bottle of water. The bill came to 220 drm, this is very cheap however, not what was on the menu so be aware of the extra charge. The service was happy and polite and they do speak english. Worth the visit. It is also down a lane way so it was nice to be off the busy streets. I can't remember seeing a vegetarian option on the menu.

“Honest good food, cosy place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

It's in a sidestreet off the main road, but if you ask anyone they'll know.
The family is kind, not after business but want to cook their specialties for you.
RECENTLY RENOVATED.
The food is good, I had the Mrouziya (honey lamb and 7 spices) and my wife had Kamama (beef and caramelised tomato)
A big meal for 2 including tea and bicuits cost us around 15 euros.
It was much nicer to eat here than some of the colder and empty restaurants where the waiters sort of linger around your table.
Here, the family keeps on with whatever they're doing and you have the little enclave to yourself to enjoy the authentic atmosphere.
We rang in the morning to book, because we weren't sure how busy it would be... it wasn't necessary, but I guess it was nice that they were expecting us.
