We stayed three nights at Riad Shaden on a first visit to Marrakech to celebrate a wedding anniversary. We received lots of help and advice from booking onwards. From the moment we were met from the taxi to the moment we left for the airport, Yusuf and Syed looked after us impeccably, always with a smile. Our room was beautiful (Amir Suite), had loads of character and was spotlessly clean. The Riad is small, is traditional and yet feels like staying in a home.
Our first dinner at the Riad was perfect and the best food we had all weekend (and you can take a taxi or walk to buy your own beer and wine at Carrefour!). Shona and Ronnie the owners were also there with lots of advice and tips - but they leave Yusuf to manage and he does that fantastically. All the staff are friendly and helpful and always smiling.
Bed very comfortable and high quality bed linen. Bathroom was great - remember to take toiletries with you though as only soap provided. We had plenty of hot water throughout our stay - something that seems to be a problem in other riads.
Riad Shaden is reasonably close to the main square - depending on time of day and how busy it is, the walk is anything from 10 to 20 minutes. Once in the Riad you can't quite believe the bustle and pace of the Marrakech that is the other side of the door. It's a haven of quiet with lots of spaces to relax including a lovely roof terrace. Yusuf encourages you to explore and they take great care in choosing taxi drivers and tours. There is plenty of advice on restaurants and shopping, events and other activities, lots of books and maps available and free wifi. I think I can safely say the team have thought of everything.
