“Small, quiet riad”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

Friendly, helpful staff and very authentic feel to the riad. Very quiet but relatively close to the main square. Lovely roof terrace with a wide range of breakfast foods - try the fig jam. Rooms could do with better lighting and the room doors, although lovely big wooden ones, are very difficult to lock.

In summary: I will be recommending this beautiful place to all of my family & friends!
My boyfriend and I stayed for 5 nights and had an amazing time. Charlotte and Rachid were wonderful hosts (very friendly and incredibly helpful) and really made us feel at home. Said and the women who work there were also very lovely and attentive.
We were lucky enough to enjoy two delicious, 3-course dinners on the rooftop of the Riad - the best meals of the trip. I definitely recommend eating here at least once!
The rooms are lovely. Spacious and very clean and comfortable. The central courtyard and the rooftop are also lovely places to relax in. The Riad is perfectly located a short stroll from the souks and square, but far enough away so that it's quiet (you'll need quiet after spending the day in the square!)
We were also lucky enough to go on a 3 day/2 night tour with Rachid, which was incredible! I highly recommend it if you have the time. The scenery outside of Marrakech is extraordinary and definitely worth exploring. Rachid is a good tour guide and a very safe driver!
For me, the most impressive part of my stay here was when I got sick on the last day. Although we'd officially check-out, Charlotte and Rachid put us in a room and even bought me medication from the pharmacy to help manage the symptoms! When I couldn't fly and we had to stay an extra night in Marrakech, they were very accommodating and even booked an appointment at a doctor - and even drove me to the appointment!! Their thoughtfulness and generosity really made such a huge difference for us as getting sick overseas can sometimes be scary.
I also recommend asking Charlotte and Rachid to book an airport transfer for when you arrive. We were taken door to door and I can imagine that otherwise it would have been hard to find.

Riad Maison Belbaraka is such a lovely place to stay. We felt so comfortable while staying there we truly felt like we were at home or staying with close friends. Charlotte and her staff are very kind. During our stay, my husband got sick and Charlotte arranged a last minute doctor's appointment, she is so helpful. The riad is situated in a quiet neighbourhood yet only a short walk to the craziness of the medina. The rooftop is a nice relaxing terrace to soak up the sun and read a book without a care in the world. The rooms are super clean and the breakfast is big enough to keep you going till dinner! We can't wait to stay there again!

From the nightmare of the airport, to the chaos of the streets, down through the alleyways into the tranquillity of Riad Maison Belbaraka.

Being our first time in Marrakech, arriving early evening and not knowing how adventurous we would be feeling we had arranged an evening meal with Charlotte, it was excellent and caused a dilemma every subsequent night – did we try the various city eateries or stay in the Riad knowing we would receive an excellent meal.

Our room (Pigeonnier) was lovely, extremely clean and welcoming – all the rooms looked like they were to the same high standard.

Breakfast every morning on the terrace, at whatever time we chose to get up, was wonderful, no pressure, excellent food and Charlotte’s team happily provided any extras requested.

Charlotte spent time with us the first evening with a map and her invaluable knowledge, advising of both the pitfalls and the highlights of the city, making sure we knew where to find the things we really wanted to see. Rachid was there waiting for us the next morning to guide us from the Riad onto the main road ensuring we noted the various markers so we could easily return to the Riad. With our map, set of keys for the Riad and list of phone numbers ‘just in case’ we were off.

What a wonderful city.

For us Riad Belbaraka was the perfect place to explore it from – within the Medina, so easy walking distance to everywhere, but outside the souks so once the Riad front door shut the noise and chaos of the streets completely disappeared. There was always somebody there to welcome us back in, no matter what time of day or night we arrived and nothing was ever any trouble.

We will one day return to Marrakech and will absolutely be staying at Riad Maison Belbaraka again.

This Riad was a lovely find! We booked it last minute, and were thrilled with what we got! We originally booked for two nights, but liked the place so much we extended by another night.

The Riad was very clean, and decorated in local style - beautifully done. The rooms were all uniquely laid out, and we would have been happy to stay in any of them! We stayed in 'Camille' - I would highly recommend it; for the bathroom if anything!
There is a great rooftop - with a great view of the city. We had breakfast on the roof, which made for a great start each morning. There are two covered areas on the roof, nicely furnished and decorated with sofas, pillows and throws - these provide great respite from the scorching sun in the summer months.

Said and his team were extremely friendly and accommodating. They were more than happy to help, and advise where to go/see in Marrakesh.

Maison Belbaraka is situated down a back alley (as many of the riads are) and a little bit hard to find at first, but please don't let that put you off. As soon as you've been there once, you'll find it again in no problem! We used the public bus to get into Marrakesh from the airport - the best place to get off is the bus stop, and then its a ten minute walk. We walked into the Medina along the road, and called Said, who came to meet us and show us the way. I might suggest the Riad's hotel service if you're not wholly convinced on you map reading ability!
The riad is situated about 15 mins walk along the main road away from the main square (Jemaa el fna) - I wouldn't say this was a bad thing, as it was quite nice to escape from the intensity of the square. If you don't like walking too far in the heat, there are plenty of small taxis around (usually Dh30). We walked everywhere, as it was a great way to explore the city.
We also felt safe walking around (being two young females), and even felt comfortable walking back at night (sticking to well lit areas.

We only had breakfast in the Riad, and it was great! A real hearty start to the day. It consisted of breads, Moroccan pancakes, jams, honey, cakes, yoghurt, coffee and fresh orange juice. The menu for evening meals looked good; but we just fancied exploring the food stalls in the main square.

This was a lovely place to stay in Marakkesh, and I would happily go back again. I would highly recommend it to my friends, if they were to visit the city.
I hope you like it too!

This riad is lovely. Ok the previous comment said there was no water in the fountain which was a shame but there is a big water problem in Marrakesh at the moment. The rooms are beautiful. the beds are super comfortable. Said and the other lady host were very helpful. We relished the quiet and soothing atmosphere where nothing was too much trouble. We breakfasted on the roof and sunbathed there too. It was just right for us. A lovely place to stay.

Room Tip: We stayed on the first floor opposite Elephant. The shower is brilliant and huge and the bed very co...

It was my third time in Marrakech and we stayed in Belbaraka for three nights due to the very positive reviews on Booking and Tripadvisor.
I have to say the owners are really professional, kind and helpful and make the riad worthwhile. Big thumbs up to this.
On the other hand i was a bit disappointed about the place itself..... there's nothing wrong with it, it is clean enough for Morocco (though it could be cleaner), decently located (though it could be better located) and it is quiet (far too quiet actually).
I simply expected more for that price, it is all about charm, there's something missing, in my past stays in Marrakech i stayed in better places for less. No candles on the yard at night, no sound of the water in the fountain... some items on the riad where too new.....i missed many details that made my past stays in Marrakech memorable.
