After out two nights at the riad we cancelled our original plans to leave Marrakech and extended our stay! We found the Riad Mur Akush to be well situated and within walking distance from the main square and the new city! Without exception, everyone of the staff was immensely helpful. We were so well taken care of by with Muhamed and Raschid , and well fed by Layla and Zola who make wonderful fresh tagines ( order ahead) and breakfasts. The fresh squeezed orange juice and Morrocan pancakes were such a special treat! . The owner Maria went out of her way to assist me when I realized I had left something in the Riad after we had checked out. All of this so far is about the people! The Riad itself is lovely and breakfast a delight! On the finest days we enjoyed our meals on the rooftop terrace. Muhamed and Rachid arranged for an excursion into the Atlas Mountains. This also was a highlight of our stay. We felt so at home that it was difficult to say good bye to new friends and a wonderful city.

Room Tip: If you are in Marrakech in the cooler seasons ask for the room with the fireplace. We loved this roo...

From the initial email contact with the owner, Maria, to staying at the Riad itself proved to be a great experience. Careful study of Tripadvisor reviews bore out in that all our expectations for our stay were fully met. The service throughout was always professional, helpful and friendly.. Rachid and his staff could not have been more helpful or pleasant and provided some delicious evening meals from fresh ingredients bought on the day. The location of the riad suited us well; a quiet area but only a short distance from a very vibrant area full of shops and local life. The Jemma el Fna was within walking distance,or if you wanted to save your energy for the frenzy of the souqs you could take a readily available small taxi. Our room exceeded our expectations, beautifully decorated with quality finishings and spotlessly clean. What more could you ask.
Simply a great place to stay

Room Tip: We stayed in room meli which was great, can't comment on the others

Having been let down by another Riad this was our second choice and rather last minute as a result but that is doing Riad Mur Akush a disservice because I am SO SO glad we stayed there instead. Maria who owns the Riad is based in the UK and sorted out the booking and airport transfers, made sure there was a hair dryer in the room etc etc. We arrived later than expected due to a flight delay but our driver was waiting to whisk us through the Medina to the Riad where Rachid greeted us with mint tea and sweet pastries. First impression was how peaceful and beautiful the Riad was and Rachid was uber helpful and continued to be throughout our 5 night stay. I can honestly say that for Rachid and the team nothing was too much trouble. Our every need was catered for - there was no time limit on when we had breakfast ( a mix of pastries, yoghurt, fruit and pancakes with honey) the dinner we had one evening was delicious and cooked on the spot, Rachid even went to the supermarket to procure some wine to go with it. He organised an excursion to Essaouira (a must see) with Sharif our multi lingual driver and ensured I got to see the goats in trees!
Our room (the Yassmin suite) was traditionally and tastefully decorated. The bathroom had what looked like an original brass shower and sink and was huge. we had a change of white fluffy towels mid week and there was always plenty of hot water. The roof terrace with sun beds and swing chairs had a view over the city and was somewhere quiet to relax, it was possible to have breakfast up there too.
The Riad is 10 mins walk from the main square and you can also reach the northern area of the souks by cutting across the top of the Medina so we walked everywhere and avoided using the taxis.
All in all a fantastic place to stay, perfect in every way. Rachid, if you are reading this, thank you for looking after David and I so well :-)

Room Tip: Marrakech is a Muslim city and there are mosques everywhere so if you stay anywhere in the Medina an...

I did a fair bit of research before choosing this Riad and my choice was spot on!
It lived up to everything we have read about it or were expecting.
Location - 15 min walk away from the Jamaa el Fna Sq - thus we could get away from the hustle and bustle and see the local life as we were walking to the more tourist places.
Location wise, you can also take a short cut to the Medersa and the Larousse area, which I highly recommend - quieter and more interesting shopping, not like in the souks.
Room - Yassin suite highly recommended. There is aircon/heating in each room if you need it, we did not. Cleanliness - to the level it should be.
The Riad is very close to Bab Dukala Mosque, so light sleepers should have this in mind. This did not bother us, on the opposite - added to the charm and authenticity of the experience.
Breakfast - prepared on the spot, sumptuous - rotating local pancakes with other local "stuff", fresj orange juice the norm.
Staff - the young man at reception was very friendly and informative. We did not use the riad's tourist services as we travelled by rentacar. There is a parking lot nearby, easy to find, inexpensive.
There is a hammam close by - I tried it - more of a tourist experience, would recommend a local one, there is one near the Medersa.
If we visit Marrakech again, we plan to stay at this Riad again!

Room Tip: Yassin suite - spacious, on the first floor (not on the top - we found the first floor the most suit...

It took some time to choose the Riad for our stay in marrakech with so many on offer but based on the great reviews of Mur Akush and it's central location we went for it.
From the time of enquiry the service was friendly and professional. On arrival the driver was waiting for us and we received a warm welcome from Rachid when we arrived at the Riad. We were shown to our room, Room Meli which is on the second floor. it was lovely and despite not having the title of suite like the other room of the Riad it is a luxurious, very large room with a seating area, fireplace and lovely bathroom.
Nothing was too much trouble for Rachid who served us breakfast wherever we wanted whenever we wanted it, answered all of our questions and help with everything and anything we could possibly need.
We had arranged to change rooms for the last night and went to one of the suites on the first floor. it was still a lovely room but we preferred our room Meli. The suite was a little darker as its on the first floor with no direct sunlight.
I cannot recommend the Riad enough, it is a perfect oasis of calm and friendliness to escape from the hustle and bustle of marrakech.

Room Tip: make sure you double check you know where you are going when you leave the riad and how to get back...

For my 70th birthday treat we decided to spend 7 nights in a riad in Marrakesh with 2 long standing friends. After much research I chose the Mur Akush, and what a find that was! From the moment we were met at the airport to the time of our departure we were spoilt. Everything we enquired about or requested was there in an instant. We were treated with kindness and courtesy by everyone working in the riad.
The Mur Akush is tucked away down a little back street in the Medina. An oasis of cool amid the chaos that is Marrakesh. We had two suites that were very comfortable, traditional and exceptionally clean. We spent time on the roof terrace lounging on sunbeds and swinging hammocks enioying the winter sunshine. We ate several times at the riad; beautifully presented dishes, tagines, couscous and kebabs, all cooked to order. Breakfast set us up for the day's exploring. We booked a day's excursion into the Atlas Mountains with our own driver and guide. All arranged by Rashid and Mohammed. A wonderful experience and very reasonably priced. Riad Mur Akush was all we asked for and more. The whole team made us welcome and did everything to make our stay memorable. I would recommend this riad to anyone contemplating a visit to this vibrant city.

Room Tip: The suite on the top floor has a separate sitting room and a fire place. Suite yasmine on the first...

I have never stayed in a riad before, so was surprised and delighted when we got there. It felt as if we were transported back to an exotic past. My husband and I and two friends stayed at this riad for 4 nights. Our friends organised the booking, and we were picked up at the airport by the riad manager. It was all very efficient. We also booked a meal at the riad on the night of our arrival, which was a very good Morracan food, and a wise move on the first night. Our room was delightful, traditionally and very tastefully designed. We were very comfortable. Unfortunately our friends chose a ground floor room, which seemed damp. The management were very sympathic, and were able to move them. Unfortunately they had to move twice as the riad was fully booked, but ended up with a gorgeous suite in the end.
The breakfasts were very good (traditional Morrocan breads, and fresh orange juice, scrummy!) and was served on the roof terrace, which had spectacular views across to the Atlas mountains. One could'nt ask for a better situation. All the staff were helpful and very pleasant. We also met one of the owners who related the history of the riad, very interesting. He plans a display charting the riad's history in the lounge area.
Riad Mur Akush, is very conveniently situated, and is short walk to the medina and the souks. The riad also organised a tour guide for us, who took us on an excellent walking tour. This is well worth doing if you have never been to Marrakech before. In total this is one of the best holiday stays I have experienced, and would certainly return to Riad Mur Akush.

Room Tip: Choose a first or second floor room in the winter
