“Wonderful place wonderful city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2010

Cant praise it enough the food was lovely the riad itself an oasis of calm and cool, even when the temperature in Marrakech was in the 40's. Antoine could not have been more charming and helpful and the sweet demure lady who was there in the mornings was enchanting. Even his foot nibbling tortoise was a lovely touch. Antoine's own paintings decorate the walls and the rooms are a modern take on the arabian nights with their own Air-con and lovely modern en suites. Nothing was too much trouble and breakfast was laid out from about 8 til when you wantted. As each person appreared freah bread and yoghurt appeared. With teenagers along this was such a boon. the shopping was fabulous and the folk in the souk were enthusiastic but never offensive. Overall one of the few places in the world I intend to revisit.

Was extremely comfortable, clean, efficient and welcoming. The host, Antoine, treated us as personal guests, nothing was too much trouble. It's in the heart of the chaotic and lively Medina, but when you close the door you're in a beautiful and tranquil environment away from it all.

We stayed here for 5 nights in April 2010 and had an amazing holiday in Marrakech. Antoine's riad is a peaceful escape from the noise and chaos of the city.
The location is good as it is close to the Jema and the Souks although you do need Antoine's expert guidence on how to the main square as you have to go down a few busy little allies to get there. Take care to keep to the right when walking as mopeds speed along behind you and expect you to be aware of them.
The accommodation is lovely; we stayed in the double room off the courtyard for the first two nights and were we moved up onto the first floor on the third night and I do think this room is the better one. The rooftop terrace is gorgeous and we spent late afternoons up there drinking mint tea and relaxing.
Antoine is an excellent host and pays great attention to detail. It was my daughter's birhday while we were there and, when he realised that we were celebrating, he produced a box of chocolates for her which was such a lovely gesture. We also ate a meal in the riad and it was very good as were the breakfasts especially the little pancakes!
This riad is a delight and lives up to the reviews we had read.

Riad Aguerzame is in an excellent location - a few minutes walk to Djemma al fna and the souks. Antione, the host, gave us execellent directions to give to the taxi driver and then came to meet us when we arrived at the point where the streets became too narrow for motor vehicles. He welcomed us with mint tea and loads of tips on where to go and what to do in Marrakech and then took the time to walk with us to show us the way to the souks - he also gave us a map in case we got lost on the way back. The food was splendid - fruit tagine with fresh melon for dinner accompanied by an intriguing aperitif (guess the flavour if you can!). Breakfast again was good - fresh bread and pancakes with yoghurt, jam, cheese and a superb home made marmalade made from the oranges which grow in the courtyard of the Riad. After breakfast we spent a few happy hours exploring Marrakech, came back understandably hot and dusty and Antoine was happy for us to take a shower and relax with more mint tea etc before the taxi arrived to take us to the airport - he is a wonderful host and the Riad is wonderfully kept in a very convenient location. If you decide to come here ask Antione to book a hammam for you at Riad Menzeh ( which also has a very lovely french host) - a fabulous relaxing experinece.

Whilst spending days googling for accommodation in Marrakech and the Atlas mountains I came across Trip Advisor and Riad Aguerzame.
After booking the Riad and informing Antoine of our plan to first go to the Atlas Mountains, he arranged for a taxi to take us from the airport to our hotel and collect us four days later to take us to the Riad at half the cost offered by our hotel.
Antoine makes you feel as if you are staying with friends rather than an anonymous hotel waiting to present you with the final bill. From the initial introductory tour nothing is a problem. The rooms are cozy but not small with a large central atrium open to the sky. Located deep in the Medina it's an excellent location for tourists almost everything is walkable, you can imagine you are living for a short time as a local. Safety was never an issue we walked everywhere at all hours. Everything spotlessly clean, the breakfasts were excellent, the room rate fair, it is a cool oasis sheltered from hectic life of the Medina outside. Would I stay again ? without a doubt.

We stayed with Antoine and his staff in early July for 4 nights and thouroughly enjoyed our time there. As we were arriving late and didn't want to venture into the centre on our first night we arranged to have dinner at the riad. The fish tagine which Antoine prepared was amazing (having requested the receipe we cannot wait to make this at home!) and the riad itself has a real homely feel, very comfortable and relaxing.

The following morning we were shown how to make our way to the square and what to look out for so we could make our way back, also during our stay we were offered tips on what to visit, what we should pay and how to negotiate! We also arranged a visit to a private hammam through Antoine and we were not dissapointed.

Marrakech is a very hectic and lively place to visit and this riad, which is only a short walk away from it all, is an oasis of calm to return to at the end of the day. If you wish to experience true Marrakech and stay in a traditional riad I would highly recommend this one.

Our first riad stay in Morocco at Riad Agerzame had left an indelible impression; especially the wonderful assistance offered by Antoine. You are a marvel, you truly treated us like honoured guests. Aguerzame is ideally located just away but within easy access of the noisy and bustling medina. It was very comfortable and well decorated in traditional Moroccon style. We enjoyed our chicken tajine very much and the dark chocolate dessert was yummy. Lots of green tea, nice breakfast, there was a real homely feeling about the place. This was a terrific start for our stay in Morocco, thanks to Antoine who was the difference. Hajijohn, Shirley, Zubair, Kathreen and Hanna
