“Amazingly helpful and so friendly.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2014 via mobile

One of the best "hotel" experiences Iv ever had. Forget staying in a chain hotel, do it the maghrebi way and stay in this riad! The owner and manger are two of the most genuinely helpful and friendly people Iv ever experienced at a hotel. They made our stay a wonderful one, my only regret is only stopping in Marrakech for 1 night... I will be back soon for sure! Thank you riad Aguerzame!

We have just returned from a four night visit to Marrakesh - three friends to mark a "significant" birthday. None of us had visited before and after taking advice we opted for a more traditional "riad" rather than a high street hotel. Riad Aguerzame is in a perfect location - very central and a peaceful calm oasis once you step through the front door from the melee of the streets outside. Laurent and his team made us so welcome - nothing was too much trouble. They showed us around on arrival, explained some of the do's and dont's, - booked taxis and dinner reservations including the fabulous Pepe Nero's. We ate dinner on the first night in the Riad which was delicious and an introduction to traditional Moroccan cuisine. Pots of tea after a long day bartering and ice cubes for our duty free G & T's - day 2 we didn't have to even ask!! Having explored the more up market areas including a coffee and cake in La Mamounia we would not have chosen a different location. We felt safe out at night and hearing the calls to prayer and the street sellers in the morning - you knew you had woken in a foreign land. The sunshine was a welcome departure after the English winter and the terrace was a great comfortable place to enjoy it. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this Riad unless you prefer the sterility and anonymity of a large hotel where you could be anywhere in the world. Thank you Laurent - we really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed at this riad for a 3 night break this February. Laurent was the perfect host and spent time to explain the local area and the unwritten rules of Marrakesh to us. This made our experience a lot more enjoyable. His breakfasts were varied and very tasty and we would recommend his three course evening meal deal with unlimited wine and beer.
The Riad was extremely clean and was beautifully decorated in the traditional style. The peaceful sunroof terrace area was the perfect place to relax after a busy day spent in the bustle of the Medina.
For day trips out we would recommend the Red Bus tour which covers two trips and you are able to hop on and off at any point. We also had a lovely day trip to the Ouzould waterfall. It does take approximately 2.5 hours to get there but it was worth the journey , our guide did a great job of taking us on the 4 hour hike down one side of the waterfall and up the other side, crossing at the bottom of the falls on an old rickety bridge.

We stayed three nights with Laurent and his team at Riad Aguerzame and can confirm all the positive comments other travelers have made.

Laurent is a great host and his orientation talk is priceless. He helped us get into the restaurant Pepe Nero , which is great , and will act as our local contact with shops were we have bought items to ship home.

The location is good, the rooms are a big and the dinner in the Riad is wonderful.

We are happy to recommend and give 5 stars

The unceasingly friendly Aziz and team push this riad up above "good" to "home-from-home" status!

We were looked after, fed well and given great (and detailed!) advice and assistance about the city throughout our four day stay. (Pepe Nero, just around the corner, was well worth booking in advance, though).

I fully recommend having an evening meal at the riad too, and drinking plenty of the home-grown orange juice.

Would come again (to hike over the mountains...)

We stayed at Riad Aguerzame for 4 days at the beginning of February. Marrakech is a great place to visit and this Riad makes it even better. We took advantage of the mid week package which included taxis to and from the airport and an evening meal on the first evening. After dinner Aziz took us to the central square for orientation and pointed out the key landmarks to enable our return. Our room was on the first floor and was quiet, clean and the bed was very comfortable. Nothing seemed too much trouble for Aziz and Laurent. They organised a day trip to the Atlas Mountains which was well worth it the cost was 50 Euros per person but included a guide and lunch. Also Aziz recommended several restaurants which we tried, all good but the best one was the Pepe Nero which was just around the corner from the Riad. In summary we had a very good time in Marrakech, and it’s largely thanks to the Riad--- we can highly recommend it and plan to return.

We agree with all the positive reviews we have read about this riad. We spent a wonderful few days in Marrakesh, made all the more enjoyable by the first class hospitality of Aziz and his team. We were made to feel so welcome and it really felt like our home throughout our stay, from the invaluable ‘induction’ talk that Aziz gave us which ensured we were well prepared for the souks to the excellent dinner and breakfast, unlimited mint teas and reliable recommendations regarding restaurants etc. Aziz was very knowledgeable and was able to give us all the advice we needed about the places we wanted to visit. He escorted us to the Djemaa el Fna on our first morning, pointing out land marks and ensuring that we had our bearings. The riad is a perfect haven situated within walking distance of all of the main attractions. The furthest we walked was to the Jardin Majorelle which took 25 minutes. In one of the quieter streets around the Djemaa this riad is peaceful and charming. We loved relaxing on the terrace at the end of the day, enjoying the sun and listening to the sounds of the Djemaa in the distance.
