We can't really fault the Riad staff. The manager, Khalila, was excellent in may ways and did a good job in making us feel at home, from the moment we first walked in. She and the staff were always patient, friendly and even helped us sort out our last minute gifts in the local markets. In fact, they also gave us a farewell gift which was very nice from them!
The riad has links to travel/excursion companies and can advise and book excursions on behalf of customers, but backpackers will perhaps prefer to save money by booking directly.
The food was amazing - although €15 can be a bit too much, and the room was very clean and had hot water all day long.
On the negative side I'd refer to previous comments about the kids who work for/with/near the riad. Clearly there's a connection between them and the riad which is unclear to customers, but needs sorting, for the sake of the riad's reputation! They are supposed to be guides/helpers, but their lack of care and occasional aggressive behaviour is appalling.
For example, on our second day in Marrakesh, Khalila arranged for two of them to show us the Medina. They did a good job until the moment they took us to one of their uncle's shop, where everyone expected us to buy something. Naturally, this kind of pressure put us off and made us feel uneasy; this was aggravated when they literally abandoned us outside the shop after we refused to buy anything and even though we had given the kids some money for the tour they gave us earlier! It was not easy to find our way back to the riad (even the locals got lost when they tried to help us) and after that we decided not to receive any further offers for help, despite seeing those kids everyday hanging around the riad.
We would advise travellers to keep a map to the riad at hand, since it's very hidden and not easy to find.
Overall, Marrakesh was a good experience and this riad is recommended for the rooms, value for money, friendliness of the staff and great food. But be weary of those kids and try to book trips on your own to save some money.
