Description: In the heart of the Medina and Souks of Marrakech lies the Rahba Kedima spice square, where old women gather to pound henna for traditional tattoos and sell hand knitted hats, while seasoned vendors run the surrounding spice stores. Within this setting is the now famed Cafe des Epices, the perfect meeting place and rest stop from the heat and commotion of the souks. The inexpensive menu is focused on the simple and fresh, offering teas and coffee, freshly made juices, sandwiches, salads and crepes. The design is correspondingly simple: deliberately paired down and basic in order to offer a peaceful resting place after the visual overload of the Souks. Built over 3 floors, the top terrace offers great views over the square and surrounding Medina, the non-smoking 2nd floor salon is a great place to lounge and the ground floor and outdoor tables are fantastic places from which to watch the colourful comings and goings of the spice square market. Open daily from 9am to 10pm

You might go here for more of a break, a view and a snack for a little of the Marrakech experience. I can't comment too much on the food as we only had a crepe which was actually pretty stale and not good, but then it was the end of the day. The view from the roof terrace is great!

“Wonderful meal - wonderful space”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

After eating a lot of hotel food, we read about Cafe des Espices and knew we had to eat there. The design of the restaurant is spectacular. A roof top garden done in shades of gray with comfy banquettes (and not so comfy backless chairs) was a wonderful respite to out day. I ordered the mixed grill which was wonderful. My husband ordered the Pastilla which was OUT OF THIS WORLD. We lingered over our lunch and had a truly wonderful experience. Had it not been our last day there we would have come back!!

“Great place for a rest”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013 via mobile

Going through the souks an be overwhelming. Cafe des e spices is by far the best place to regain your thoughts. Grab a fantastic mint tea and go up to the first floor and sit by the window. From here you can watch the hustle and bustle and take some "action" photos.

“Great location and great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

An excellent spot for a light lunch. Loved the goats cheese salad - treat yourself to some fries on the side. Straw hats at hand to keep off the sun. Abiding memory of hearing Max Romeo and the Upsetters playing the "Iron shirt" song competing with the call to prayer from the nearby mosque
