Description: In the heart of the Medina and Souks of Marrakech lies the Rahba Kedima spice square, where old women gather to pound henna for traditional tattoos and sell hand knitted hats, while seasoned vendors run the surrounding spice stores. Within this setting is the now famed Cafe des Epices, the perfect meeting place and rest stop from the heat and commotion of the souks. The inexpensive menu is focused on the simple and fresh, offering teas and coffee, freshly made juices, sandwiches, salads and crepes. The design is correspondingly simple: deliberately paired down and basic in order to offer a peaceful resting place after the visual overload of the Souks. Built over 3 floors, the top terrace offers great views over the square and surrounding Medina, the non-smoking 2nd floor salon is a great place to lounge and the ground floor and outdoor tables are fantastic places from which to watch the colourful comings and goings of the spice square market. Open daily from 9am to 10pm

“Nice place to sit and relax”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

Stopped in here for a drink and little snack. The honey and almond yoghurt drink was lovely, and the crepes were nicely made. Reasonably priced, and nice atmosphere upstairs with a nice view over the spice market. Slow service but that wasn't a problem.

“An oasis in the souk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

Maybe anywhere else this place would just be above average, but it's in a prime spot to overlook the spice market, is a local hangout and serves decent drunks at not-too-bad prices, and decent paninis etc. I think it's more of a snack joint than a proper eaterie, but my panini was fine. three floors with a decent view from 1st and 2nd floors, and a large seating area on the ground floor outside the front. Definitely worth a visit with a camera or book to read, or just to daydream.

“Good Simple Food and Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

Located just inside the Spice Souk Square and occupying two separate buildings, this little cafe come restaurant is always mobbed and therefore a wait for a table is part of coming here at peak eating times. Forget trying to get up on the second floor rooftop terrace, it is exceptionally popular and you could wait for some time to get a table up there. However street level in the sunshine is a far better people watching position and the service is superb. The waiting staff move at lightning speed. Thoroughly recommend the filled rolls. Chicken, Lamb, Cheese and Vegetarian options all freshly prepared to order. Great lunch stop at about £4 per person for a filled Morrocan roll and a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. We visited 3 times during our stay and they were consistently good. One to add to the lunch list.

“Really good sandwiches”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

The chicken and Kefta sandwiches are very tasty! Great view if you can get a seat on the roof terrace. Came everyday for late lunch while shopping in the souks.

“cool and scenic views lol!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

I must have gone to the wrong cafe, it is what it is just another cafe serving mint tea which any cafe in Morocco should be able to do.Tuna/chicken/Kofte sarnies had better in cooler cafes on the Portobello Road. If you like your views of satellite dishes then great what makes any terrace good is the sun beating down on you which Marrakech does have. Says more about the other 348 restaurants in this section if this comes in @ 32.
