After a little research on TA for a entertaining restaurant, I came across Comptoir Darna. I had reserved a table for 21:30hrs for my wife and I, by email from the UK before we arrived in Marrakech based on the belly dancing entertainment. On the night (Wednesday), we got a taxi around 20:15hrs to the restaurant from our hotel (Zalagh Kasbah), which cost 50 dirhams and a 10 min drive. As soon as the taxi pulled up, the doormen opened the taxi door for us and greeted us with a very welcoming warm smile asked if the journey was ok (wasn't expecting that at all). As the doors opened the restaurant floor was busy with a traditional band playing, sitting on the stairs in front of us. We were shown up the stairs to the next level, where it was less busy and somewhat quiet, but we were assured that this would soon fill up. Rest assured, by 21:00 hrs it started to get busy and the atmosphere livened up. The restaurant was dimly lit with candles, which was nice. The meal was very average, and wasn't indicative of the surroundings. At 22:30hrs the belly dancing started, the lights dimmed even more and this was the best part of the night in our opinion. The dancers were absolutely brilliant and made the night, even though it lasted about 25-30 mins.
As we left the restaurant the doormen asked if we required a taxi. I hadn't prebooked so I asked for a taxi. They asked how much I wanted to pay for a taxi and I replied no more than 50 dirhams. Immediately, they went into the middle of the road and flagged down a passing taxi - had a quick word and ushered us into the taxi and 10 mins later we were back at our hotel and paid 50 dirhams to the taxi driver.
To summarise: Food was average. Entertainment was excellent. Doormen were well mannered and very welcoming and helpful.
