“Reliable Morroccan”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

I had dinner at al Fassia last night with my friends. We tried every single entree at the menu. We have been in Morrocco more than 15 days and tried classical Morrocan dishes at multiple occasions. This is the first place that we really liked dishes. Table and chairs are not comfortable. I recommend this place who is about to quit on Tajine.

“Got to go there”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

We visited here twice, both times we were made to feel very welcome. Fantastic Morroccan food, the 2nd time was for my Husbands birthday. Marvelous surroundings, and great atmosphere.
Its a bit hard to find, its on the main road but the entrance looks like its down a dark alley and you will need to book as its always full !!

“Excellent Morrocan cuisine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

The full range of traditiional dishes..on a busy night it can feel a bit cramped, but the food is very good indeed, it is licensed and is full of higher-end locals and Internationals.

“They grudgingly fitted us in.....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

Full of diplomats/embassy workers all showing off and photographing each other, as this is 'the' place to be seen in Marrakech. For now...... Excellent traditional food - best couscous I've ever tasted - but small, cramped tables way too close to each other and the waiting staff act like they are royalty. Several dishes demand 24 hours notice/for 2 persons only. Yes, the food is stunning (as are the prices) but there is much more to a pleasant experience than that.

“Good, but very expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012 via mobile

This place is in all the guidebooks and seems to have been around forever. It's not massively easy to find as the entrance is set back from the road. In fact it's easier to find at night because of the illuminated sign. I would definitely recommend booking ahead - we went on a Sunday night out of high season but the place was packed, and we only got in because we agreed to share a table.

The decor and ambience is just right - Moroccan but very high class. Also the waitress was pleasant and friendly (though it definitely helps if you speak French or indeed Arabic.) The menu includes all the usual Moroccan stuff, tagines, pastillas and so on.

The main drawback is the price. The estimated price on here - £6 to £9 - is a joke! You'll pay that just for your starter. Our bill came to over 80dh for the two of us which works out at over £30 per head. Admittedly we did have three courses and wine, but even so, that's really expensive and I'm not sure the food justified it.

The best course was the starter - pigeon pastilla (yes, pigeon!) which had delicious flaky pastry and tasted great. The tagine was a little disappointing, though acceptable. Dessert was unexciting but fine.

Definitely a "destination restaurant" and one of the places to go in Marrakesh if you want to impress somebody, but I'm not sure it's really worth the price.
