Owner description: The world-renowned cooking workshops at La Maison Arabe are open to hotel guests and those staying elsewhere in Marrakech. At the half-day classes, one learns the secrets of Moroccan cuisine, considered the most refined on the African continent. The workshops are run by a dada (traditional Moroccan chef), a translator (French/English), and include a visit to a nearby spice market and communal bread oven. After the workshop, during which every participant has worked alongside the dada at his or her own workstation, one dines on the delicious meal that's been prepared. The cooking workshops at La Maison Arabe have been praised by the leading international travel and food press, including The New York Times Sunday Travel Section, Travel + Leisure, Condé Nast Traveler, Saveurs, and Virtuoso Life.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2014

Easily the best experience of our Marrakesh trip. Highly recommend this to anyone who wants an authentic taste of Moroccan food.great background to principle of Moroccan food. Fantastic kitchen individual workstation per person complete with individual sinks and mini cok tops. Completely set up with knives and spices dishes and main ingredients all laid out. Good fun introduction to our half day workshop. Got to help flatten out the bread before cooking it in outdoor communal oven, enjoyed the ritual of Mint tea. Great fun trying to make roses out of our tomatoes. Completed and enjoyed the chicken tagine and Moroccan salads we cooked and shared at the end of our session. Ps. Really enjoyed the experience of identifying - all the different spices which were also available for purchase as were the cute pottery bowls.

“20th June 2014”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2014

We booked a day course at this wonderful school to learn a little about the food and culture of the people of Marrakech and couldn't have chosen better. There was 15 people in our group and everybody was warm and friendly...we spent a little time going through the spices and then about the traditions of the foods we were about to cook. When we moved into the kitchen it was well equipped with enough staff to go between pupils...after preparing the meals we moved back outside and all ate together. The surrounding were beautiful after a leisurely lunch we were taken back to our hotel to mull over the recipes given at the end of the day. A fabulous day out.

“Great day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2014

The cooking facilities are great, Teheran hosts friendly and knowledgable and the morning well though out in terms of teaching reusable techniques and explaining basic principles of Moroccan cooking. We made tagine and salads that I still make from time to time in the uk.

It was nice to have a formal sit down meal and chat with the other students and we all felt a bit more connected to the cuisine.
The take home pack was fantastic with recipe cards, a clay tagine and spice. Couldn't fault the course and would recommend to friends visiting the city.

“Amazing experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2014

We went to the cooking class not knowing what to expect and we ended up having an amazing time! The facilities were great, really modern and clean. The instructions weren't too hard to follow, and the staff ensured everyone had a good time.

Well worth the money.
