“a hidden gem- a riad with the best service we've ever experienced”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2010

We first looked at hotels in Tripadvisor. since we had a limited budget and based on great reviews, we chose hotel du tresor. the hotel did live up to the high standard in reviews. At first glance, the hotel doesn't have the grandness and decor of famous hotel chains, but it small, but very clean and stylish, if you want to experience moroccan culture, then you definitely should choose riads over hotel chains.

What i liked best of hotel du tresor is the location and its services. It is a two minute walk from the old city center and the most famous market, it is also walking distance to most of the sightseeing places. so when you are tired from sightseeing you could easily walk back to the hotel, which is really quiet and calm and get back all your energy. There is a very nice terrase and the staff will bring you refreshments if you ask for it. The service of the staff was the best ive ever experienced and i have stayed in over 40 hotels. The staff are sincere and very helpful. You feel very welcomed. When my boyfriend fell sick, they offered mint tea and did everything they can do to help. the only minor defect of the hotel was that in the morning at 8am when everyone is using the shower, there may be limited hot water. the rooms are not grand but are well-decorated. for the price i paid i think it was well worth the price. if you go there you must ask for their delicious mint tea!

I just left from Hotel du Tresor a few nights ago and I was amazed at the value of this hotel. The staff was very helpful and dependable...we could communicate in english (important since I dont speak french or arabic). The location is very close to the main square and all the action, but after long days around chaotic Marrakech, it was nice to come back to a quiet and comfortable place to relax. I will definitely stay here next time i'm in Marrakech.

I stayed here 7 nights with a friend in a very small but chic room, only 35 euros per night for both of us. It had 'bunk' beds and a small bathroom. Maybe this room is designed for kids, but we were comfortable here and very happy with the price. The hotel is generally pretty quiet and in an excellent location, just tucked away off of the main medina plaza. The service was impeccable. They respond promptly to requests and questions by email, and are very professional. We arranged airport transfers easily and inexpensively too.

One of the staff helped us find a nearby hammam and even invited us to come with him the next morning, where he showed us the basics of how to do a traditional hammam session. The ladies are very welcoming and friendly and serve up a great breakfast in the mornings on a beautiful terrace. If it rains, they have a salon just off the terrace.

The quality of service, price, location, and breakfast all merit my wholehearted reccomendation. It's a chic and quiet refuge in the otherwise crazy but wonderful red city.

Great looking hotel minutes away from Djemma-el Fna, but if you arrive after dark get them to meet you somewhere more central, the street leading to the Riad is a little scary at night if this is your first visit to Marrakesh. Lovely terrace for breakfast. Staff very nice, but could have been more helpful.

We stayed in Mariachia room on ground floor, it was occasionally a little bit noisy in the courtyard but the room was splendid- a proper boudoir with separating curtains and gorgeous art work. But no storage.

The shower in the bathroom took a few minutes to warm up but was hot enough after and the sink tap drips throughout the night- although the cleaners managed to rectify this each morning!

We were provided with fresh towels each morning, they tidied the bed and folded our clothes each morning!

Breakfast was boiled eggs, yoghurt, bread and pancakes with fresh orange juice and coffee. Perfect on the terrace in the morning sun.

Staff were particularly helpful and went out of their way to aid us.

This Raid was a great find for us, we had just drove for 4 days from Fes and parked the car near the main square and was speaking to a shop owner when she mentioned her friend owned this, she called him and he sent staff to gather out bags and walk there.

The first room we had was a two story affair in a avant garde italian feel with a huge painting and other nice touches. This was 60 Euro and the only room they had. They moved us to a larger room with a great bathtub and bathroom, after the first room had a odor issue with the septic/pipes.

We loved the feel there, and the entire riad is well appointed, though there was some issues with the service, like breakfast not complete in the offerings depending when you went to eat, and other minor housekeeping issues that more the managements problem then the staff itself, they were always attentive and worked hard, just needed to be guided better in their days work...

The location is superb, there are many Raids in the same street as well, at all levels of price, so shoot for this place first, if not, plenty to choose from steps away.

We actually preferred the Medina in Fes to Marrekech as well the cuisine options, the Medina is Marrakech was more touristy, motos were allowed to buzz everywhere, and the food was just a lot of the same, no variety in our eyes, and more a factory of culinary servings...but thats just us...

Enjoy, Morocco is a lovely country, its people are gems, and the desert drive from Fes was a highlight...

The Hotel du Tresor is a lovely little gem that is wonderfully well-located only steps away from the marketplace yet it is still serene and tranquil and quite romantic too. The entire staff is wonderfully refined and sensitive and we were treated like royalty during our stay! One staff member in particular, Amine, assisted with all our requests and no detail was too small for him to graciously and enthusiastically provide assistance to us. We love this riad and considered our stay there absolutely outstanding!
