“Just a bit hokey”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2013

A suggestion from our riad as it was very close & we were jet-lagged. Housed in an old riad, it was very nice inside with intricate plaster pillars, dark woods etc. The food was OK, the service OK & the prices average for this type of restaurant. We were entertained by 3 belly dancers with a DJ spinning tunes. I know, I know . . . pretty touristy.

“Save your time and money for something better”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

The restaurant looks nice, but
- the service is a nightmare,
- you have to wait an incredible amount of time
- in Marrakech and in Marocco you'll find for Sure better restaurant for a definitely cheaper price
- most of the menu is just average comprared to the other restaurants

“If you're into belly dancing..”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013 via mobile

Looks like a fancy restaurant when you first walk in and food is highly priced. The food was lovely though, i had the tangier lamb! Although everything goes downwards when belly dancers start. They are so clearly targeting groups of guys and performing so as to get tips tucked into their outfits... Wasnt my cup if tea!!

“Very very disappointing. Avoid and save your hard earned money.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013 via mobile

Our hotel recommended this place and we made the mistake of not checking TripAdvisor. Last time we make both those mistakes.

The restaurant is nicely decorated but the food and service are very poor, especially at these prices. Thankfully we opted just to order mains or we would have wasted more money.

The tables are poorly designed making it hard to sit comfortably, the belly dancers are intrusive and totally unnecessary, the waiters are unresponsive until it came time for the bill of course (at which point they kept reminding us that service was not included), and the food was incredibly average. I had the chicken and almond with honey tangine and my wife had the lamb with dates. Both were chewy.

Overall we were totally unimpressed with Le Tanjia. Best to avoid and as the title says, save your hard earned cash for a better restaurant.

“Great atmosphere, food lacking and pricey”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

Very lovely building, we had some belly dancers to entertain us during the evening - bit awkward gyrating around you whilst you're tucking into your tagine. Food and drink massively expensive. My chicken tagine with almond and honey was disappointing. The sauce was good but the chicken was tough and chewy. Would give a miss. Keep your cash for ten meals each in Jmaa el Fna.
