“Great hotel, just a bit far from the city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

I stayed at the hotel for three days and I was amazed with the design and services the hotel offer. The staff were very nice; the rooms were very large and comfortable; the Restaurant was just amazing with many great indoor feature, the food served was just delicious!; the pool area provived a relax atmostphere and in many occassion lunch is served there by the pool, unfortunately, by 1800 or sundown, the pool seems abandon and dark with no activity there, but maybe during real summer its different. I did not use the spa, so I cannot comment. I must admit that taking a shuttle or taxi back and forth to the city can be costlhy.

Room Tip: My room was located near the pool, all the way on the back,at night, it was very dark back there, so...

I've just returned from a holiday at Maison Des Oliviers and felt compelled to write a review as I had such a lovely stay there, the surroundings were gorgeous and the staff could not have been more helpful. Yes it is quite quiet there and a bit out of the way of the main old and new towns but it really depends on what you're looking for, If you want pool parties and nightclub central this probably isn't the place you're looking for but personally I liked the fact it was that bit removed from the hustle and bustle and it's only a short and cheap taxi ride into the busier areas for going out. Plus the staff there can arrange any excursions and day trips you want to do so it's easy to get out and about if you want an active holiday. Alternatively if you're looking for some R and R it's a lovely relaxing base to just chill at (and the spa there is well worth a visit) . I would highly recommend it

The Hotel is about 7Km out of town. Good news is it's quiet, bad news is it's a taxi ride to get to a restaurant or shop! The road to the hotel is unmade, unlit & strewn with dumped rubbish. It's amongst half built houses with people living in makeshift tents & a roaming pack of dogs (see pic taken from the entrance!). We were staying 7 nights. Arrived late at night & felt very ill at ease with the surroundings. The room bore no resemblance to those on the website & was VERY basic & tired. Long TV table, one dining room chair, one bedside table. If you wanted to sit down you had to use the bed. The bathroom was small & the walk-in shower difficult to use due to its 1 position bracket. I turned it on & a high pressure jet was directed right across the room soaking the clean towels on the rail (which was falling off!). Good start... The toilet is separate & like a public loo. Although it wasn't expensive, we still felt ripped off as it was way poorer than expected. I actually appologised to my partner for taking her there. We went to Essaouira on the coast for a day trip & ended up staying the night there as we found a superb small hotel & really didn't want to go back to our room in the Maison des Oliviers! The Hotel food is good but the menu limited & didn't change, wine selection very poor. Breakfast not very 'continental'. Most things covered in oil, honey, sugar or fried. No cold meats etc. I only ate bread, fruit & the fantastic fresh orange juice. Conversely, the staff were brilliant! Very friendly & helpfull - couldn't fault them.
We were surprised to see a Trip Advisor 2013 award on the wall - clearly it wasn't based on the room we had!

Room Tip: Don't go for the basic rooms!

We stayed here on our honeymoon. We only booked two nights because we were on a budget but as soon as we got there we wished we had booked longer!! It is a fantastic Riad that lives up to the 5 star rating unlike many others that you might find. The service was very good, the restaurant had the best couscous that we tried our whole time in Morocco (three weeks) and delicious starters and desserts too. The staff speak perfect English and even the other guests were so friendly. The pool is luxurious and the drinks and lunches served from the pool bar are also great. It is a little bit away from the medina but we found that it was nice to leave the hustle and bustle and take the very cheap shuttle ack to the riad every evening instead of staying in the souks. Would definitely return!!

Room Tip: Pay the little bit extra for the more luxurious room - it is worth it!

A late Review: visited in March 2011. We stayed for 3 nights & were upgraded to a deluxe room in the Riad. It was a lovely hotel, very modern & beautiful & the staff were very nice & helpful. We were about 30 mins from djemma de fina the main square & the breakfast was very nice & a good variety. Mainly sweet food as culturally preferred. A great Moroccan experience.

I chose this place based on previous reviews and was not disappointed. Whilst the location is a little way (5k) outside Marrakech the shuttle available for £2 a trip makes getting in and out easy. The location is peaceful and the Riad a beautiful oasis. I went with a large group of women who all loved the place. We were also upgraded to suites at no extra charge which were huge, traditionally decorated, smart spaces. But those in non suites were also happy with their rooms. The pool and surroundings are really nice and the pool beds the best. The inclusive breakfast is Moroccan continental. Fresh and plenty of it. Varieties of Moroccan breads and fresh squeezed orange juice were delicious. To top it all the staff were very friendly and accommodating. They were super helpful and patient. I booked direct with their web site and they were readily contactable by email. They even arranged a day trip for six of us that was good fun and great value. We all said we would go back. We also went for a walk outside the resort, in the local area. It is mainly residential with a few other resorts just off the main road that goes between Marrakech and the Atlas Mountains. Some of it is under development but everyone we met was friendly and views of the mountains amazing. The 10k run we did one morning along the main road was met with, if there was any reaction, surprise and encouragement, but no hostility. As it was January, it was beautifully warm and sunny in the day and cooler at night. Extra blankets and heaters were available if required. Marrakech is a great place to visit as it is quite unique. All in all, highly recommended.

This was our second visit to Marrakech.. but our first to La Maison des Oliviers. We decided to try a Ryiad rather than a large hotel chain.. and we were not disappointed! The staff were absolutely charming... nothing too much trouble. Our room was upgraded .... which was a lovely surprise!... There was no hairdryer in the large Morroccan bathroom.. but one arrived within minutes! Lovely room, comfortable bed, nice furnishings.. nice toiletries... and spotlessly clean.

Breakfast was plentiful.. fruit, nuts, pastries, lovely fresh juice... etc... We dined in the restaurant two evenings, and again were not disappointed. We tried the wine as recommended by our charming waiter.. Sal... the red with dinner and the rose with lunch.. excellent!...We used the shuttle bus...very good... but we preferred the taxi service provided by the hotel... Edriss... was superb!... we booked him for a half day to take us to some of the city sights we didn't manage to see last time... he was courteous, prompt, and waited for us at each place. He was so good that we booked him again to go the mountains.. and what a great decision - would highly recommend.

The pool was fab.. and the water temperature warm.. we did manage a dip! Pool bar/restaurant again was excellent. Beautiful gardens... constantly weeding, sweeping, pruning, etc...

If you are looking for somewhere out of town and want to chill.. but have the option to go into the centre, or mountains... La Maison des Oliviers is a perfect choice... we would highly recommend it and will certainly be returning!.. Merci beaucoup Aziz and all the team!!

Room Tip: We had room 206 ... didn't see any of the others.. but feel sure they will be all of a similar s...
