“Fabulously family friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2009

Our family [two adults and two children ages 10 and 12] spent 3 nights at the Noir d'Ivoire recently. Jill and Damien were wonderfully welcoming and helpful with suggestions on places to see and getting around Marrakech. The staff was marvelous and quite kind to the children. The riad itself it simply gorgeous; the public rooms were exquisitely furnished and the suite was lovely with a private terrace and hot tub. We had all of Marrakech just outside the door but also had the quiet of the riad.
Plus, they have an adorable donkey named Couscous who brings your luggage from the drop-off point to the riad.
I can't say enough good things about this place.

We stayed for three nights at this fabulous Riad in the Medina. This was our third trip to Marrakech and certainly our best. Jill, Damien and Oliver were so welcoming and kind and did everything possible to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. Nothing was too much trouble - the service was impeccable - with such charming staff, the rooms spotless and every time we went out "the fairies" came in and tidied for us. The rooms and public spaces are absoloutly beautiful with the majority of the furnishings locally sourced by Jill - they are a real showcase for the local artisans.

If you are looking for a fantastic place to stay with charming hosts for whom nothing is too much trouble then this is the place for you. We certainly plan to return..

We are just beack from THE most fantastic trip to Marrakech, made all the more fantastic by our stay in the uber deluxe riad, Noir d'Ivoire. We cannot speak highly enough of the welcome we received or the standard of service provided. Marrakech is a challenging but life-changing destination but staying in such a comfortable and refined environment is the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of the medina. The staff are outstanding, ever helpful, ever smiling, efficient yet never officious. The setting and cuisine are fusions of the Moroccan and French. However, the true jewel of the riad is the hostess, 'Madame Jill', who is generous both with her time and invaluable advice. We would never have navigated the bewildering choice of what Marakech has to offer without her help! The woman is an inexhaustable fount of knowledge and she has the ability to make suggestions which perfectly fit in with the wishes of her guests, whether sightseeing or shopping or fine dining. Cannot wait for the next visit.

We chose this hotel based purely on the tripadvisor reviews. It is so rare that everyone gives a place such glowing reviews that we decided to go there to celebrate my 40th birthday (and soften the blow!) Neither of us had particularly wanted to visit Marrakech and the riad was the only reason for going....no pressure then.
We were not disappointed in any way by the accommodation, which is superb. As everyone has already said, Jill and Damien are very natural and attentive hosts who really do want your stay to be perfect. The riad itself is just so beautiful and the decor is very stylish. We stayed in the Guepard suite which was probably the best room we have ever stayed in. We looked at a few others and thought ours was the nicest. The bed was really comfortable with silky smooth Egyptian cotton sheets and we found the room very quiet and were not disturbed by the regular calls to prayer.
The weather was not very good and we had a fair amount of rain, which apparently is very rare but we liked having the fires lit around the riad and even in our room one night.
My birthday was the best of my life, helped by the fact that my husband had organised an early morning balloon trip through the hotel and the other people in the basket were Jude Law and his lovely three children! We then returned to the riad and Damien had arranged a cake and organised a great meal out at a local restaurant.
All in all we cannot rate the hotel highly enough and, even though we weren't particular fans of Marrakech itself, we would go back purely to stay here again.
I also really made use of the Hammam and had various massages and facials which I would highly recommend.
Thanks to all of the staff, who really made my 40th birthday special.

Noir D'Ivoire was highly recommended by Mr & Mrs Smith so me and my partner booked it - nothing prepared us for this fantastically peaceful, ueber-chic but at the same time homely place. Jill, the owner, welcomed us upon arrival (we had a very long wait at the airport), poured us drinks and arranged dinner by candlelight straight away. Our room was beautiful, the attention to detail in both rooms and public spaces is impressive. Damien, the hotel's manager, was incredibly helpful and organised everything from restaurant reservations to days out. I can't recommend this place enough!

Wow... what a fabulous Riad, superbly comfortable and romantic where the owner (Gill) and staff are just fantastic! Look at these reviews... every one of them sings the praises of Riad Noir D'Ivoire! How many hotels do you know where the guests are so delighted after a stay? My girlfriend and I, who have just returned from this lovely experience, are very keen that others should enjoy it too. So.... if you are going to Marrakech then do yourselves a BIG favour, splash out and stay at the Riad Noir D'Ivoire... you're guaranteed a memory to cherish for years!

We just spent three wonderful days in this beautiful Riad. We where planning to stay in a double room but for a little amount we where upgraded to an incredible Suite, the Zebre Suite. Everything in this Riad is perfect, attention to details was taken seriously, and you can really see that the owner, Jill, is an interior designer. Our Suite had a private roof-terrace with a Jacuzzi, two comfort sun-beds and an astonishing view over to roofs of the Medina. The breakfast was healthy, only fresh products and served perfectly, the Moroccan Whisky (mint-tea) was excellent too. A detail we really appreciated was that when we came back for a short nap in the afternoons, the entire staff reduced the conversation volume and the background music was turned off. Before leaving the Riad we always got interesting and useful hints by the staff. Once you get used to the narrow streets of the Medina it’s really easy to find your way back to this hidden gem. They also gave a local cell phone, just in case, we would got lost … One night we decided to stay at the Riad for dinner and we where really surprised, excellent menu, fresh foie-gras and excellent local wine made this evening memorable. We are looking forward to coming back to Marrakech and this Riad will definitely be our home again. Eugenio and Isabel, Lugano, Switzerland
