“A beautiful anniversary at the Riad Noir d'Ivoire”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2012

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel.
The managers and the staff are really very polite and helpful. They organized us the most intimate and delicious dinner on my wife's birthday !
The Riad is like an oasis from the rush of the city.
If we decide to go back to Marrakesh, we definitely will choose The Riad Noir d'Ivoire !!

My husband and I have just come back from a long weekend at the Riad Noir d'Ivoire to celebrate our ten year wedding anniversary. We spent a long time researching which Riad to visit and we certainly do not regret our decision. The choice was perfect. As with any trip, many things contribute to the experience, but when you have such luxurious surroundings, wonderful food, beauty everywhere you look and the most helpful and dedicated staff, it's unlikely that your trip will be anything other than perfect.

Damian and Ariane are the best hosts. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome. We were upgraded to a suite with a roof terrace and private hot tub which was fantastic. The room was outstandingly beautiful and we were treated to rose petals strewn around the place which was lovely.

Damian seemed to instinctively know the sort of thing we would like to do and shaped our weekend accordingly. We had pre-arranged one meal which was fantastic, but he organised a hammam and relaxing afternoon poolside at another majestic hotel on our way back to the airport, a hike into a Berber village and supper at another fantastic restaurant and was on hand to give directions and advice on the other places we had planned to visit independently. He even lent us a local mobile phone so that we could stay in touch with our children easily in the UK! The rest of the staff are also fantastic and Mohammed the driver also deserves a special mention! The spa treatments given by Leila were also wonderful.

The small touches mean so much and if you are even considering going elsewhere, I would say don't! I'm sure there are many wonderful Riads in the city, but this one excels on all levels and if you want to feel thoroughly spoilt and pampered, it's a no brainer!!

Stayed at this Riad for three nights in the Zebre Suite and it was a fantastic experience. Ariane is the most wonderful host and really couldn't do enough for us, the Riad was tranquil and luxurious, a place where one felt at ease straight away, and the staff were both friendly and helpful, yet entirely unobtrusive. We are definitely coming back here next time we are in Marrakech! Oh and I loved Cous Cous the donkey.

Room Tip: Go for one of the suites with private roof terrace and jacuzzi - bliss.

We stayed three nights in February 2011 (drop down menu only goes back to July 2011 - I meant to write this review months ago but life has been hectic). We found the Riad d'Ivoire to be magnificent. It was certainly a welcome haven away from the noise and bustle of the city. Jill and Damien were wonderful hosts. The room was tremendous. The food and wines excellent. We also liked the donkey! Would certainly recommend it for anyone visiting Marrakech.

Room Tip: You are going to get woken at 4am anyway by the prayers!

My fiancee and I had a wonderful time at Riad Noir D'Ivoire. The Riad had a lovely feel to it and the staff made us feel very comfortable. We could not fault the attention to detail that they obviously put a great deal of effort into. Our stay was made most enjoyable due to the staff; they were all very attentive and the manager gave us advise and recommendations that we wouldn't have been able to live without! I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay within the Medina in Marrakech.

From the moment we arrived in Marrakech the transfer was seamless including a walk through the souk with Cous-cous, the donkey, who carried our luggage. The Riad is truly a sanctuary in the middle of the chaos that is Marrakech. The standard and decor are first class. More importantly, its like a home from home. Both Ariane and Damien instantly made us feel at home, the staff were really friendly and attentive. Damien couldn't be more helpful, and had some great suggestions for dinner and must-see's in Marrakech, arranging a lot of stuff for us 'on the hoof'. He went beyond the call of duty on several occasions and arranged two really romantic dinners for my wife and I at La Sultana terrace restaurant and Cafe de la Poste. At the end of our stay we felt like we were leaving friends, not a hotel.

On a more practical note the Riad is really quite close to the souks and Medina, approximately 10-15mins walk, which is interesting in its own right. It looks daunting trying to negotiate this the first time, but once you've got it - piece of cake. I always felt safe there, even late at night, but like anywhere in the world you have to keep you wits about you.

The rooms were amazing, we stayed in the elephant and Camel suites. Very large, impressively decorated, and a cool relaxed place to wind down after the souks.

Both Ariane and Damien are extremely kind, helpful and very well connected - Just ask them and they will know the best way.

We'll be back...

Room Tip: The Elephant and Camel Suites where excellent.

Stayed at Riad Noire D'Ivoire for five days having climbed Mt Toukbal in the High Atlas prior to this. Previous reviewers have already written just praise for the Riad which we would definitely agree with and no need to repeat etc. For the start of our stay Ariane looked after us and then latterly Damien. Both could not have been more helpful; we had an amazing level of service from each of them and their staff. Ariane had prior to our arrival been invaluable in helping to book things such as a 1/2 days horse riding in the Palm Groves ( not as idyllic as it might sound but still a lovely thing to do if you have time or the inclination). Enjoyed a cookery class at nearby Maison D'Arbe which would also recommend. Aperitifs by the pool and very tasty dinners very memorable and suppose you could do a lot worse than stay at base in the evenings. For a change though would recommend ( Ariane's recommendation) food stall Number 1 in the main square in the evening. The resident house cats were lovely too, especially the black one! On a general note we found Marakesh a great place to visit although getting taxis tedious in that unlike the guidebooks suggestion of them using the meter ( always refused) you had to barter, would suggest most trips could be got for 30 Dirhams. Also never engage in conversation with apparently innocent and helpful locals in the Souk giving you directions especially after dark. We had one who sent us the wrong way and who then suddenly re-appeared and showed us the way ( via and on hindsight a convoluted route). We thanked him but he wanted a "gift" and pushed me several times after I declined and asked if I "wanted trouble". Fortunately two local good Samaritans intervened.
