We booked a few weeks in advance and arranged an airport pick up, for fear of getting lost in the souks. Gilles , who ran the Rad met us and led us through the square and souks to find the hotel. We were absolutely delighted! Our room was clean and comfortable, and the Riad itself a delight. We had breakfast on the terrace every morning and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful.
Gilles looked up weather forecasts for a trip to Essouria, gave travel advice, showed us a few places to eat nearby, it really felt like hoome from home. Breakfast was served from 8am...we usually got up about 11 or 12....tut tut.

The riad is ideally set in the souks, right next to the Spice square and a great little cafe Le Cafe Espices. It's quite strnage to walk through them at night when its all shut up, and I will admit to being a bit fearful at times, but it was just my jittery cynical London self, everyone was friendly and said good evening.

A real pleasure to stay in, I can't reccomned it highly enough!

I know Marrakech since a long time. This year, I try a new riad called Riad Douzi. It is a reasonably priced riad and is very clean, with comfortable rooms (there is even a suite!!) and a great atmosphere. Prices are very okay (from 45 to 70 euros at this period). The location is great, beetwen Jemaa el Fna and the terrific Spices Square. There is a roof-terrasse for the sun and... the meals. Tajines from Aïcha are just great. The staff is nice, helpfull.
