A beautiful, jewel like interior with exquisite decorative motifs. The open atrium with hanging garden and occasional songbird is delightful. The rooms are comfortable with air con and modern ensuite bathrooms. The staff are helpful and pleasant. Be aware however that because all the rooms open onto the atrium..noise travels....Apologies to any other guests who suffered my singing on the first morning!

This riad is perfect, recreates a genuine atmosphere. A great refuge from the chaos and noise of the souk. Very quiet and charming, the staff is very friendly and the manager helpful in everything you might need. Nice rooms in moroccoan style, great air conditioning and facilities. Breakfasts amazing. I will go back again whenever possible. Highly advised.

This place offers you a relaxing time, after walking around in the (slightly dirty) medina: The rooms and the whole Riad are decorated with great care. The roof terrace offers you some sun loungers.
I found the experience to stay in a Riad really interesting: It´s a world in itself, as the thick ouside walls seperate you from the huzzle in the medina, whilst inside the Riad, it´s almost intimate.
I found other guests and the staff very respectful: They took great care not to be noisy and breakfast was served as soon as one appeared out of the room.
It would be great if the Riads could arrange a "pick up" at a given time in the evening at Place el Fna, - just to get ridd of those "faux guides" which are really a pain in the a...
At night time, it´s almost impossible to find back to the Riads, because all shops are closed, and hence your "orientation points" are lost...

So, in total for 50 Euros/night, it´s a very good place to stay.
Other Riads seem to be much more expensive, which is simply ridiculous, given the prices for accomodation, food etc. in Marrakesh! Compare before you book... and don´t ruin the market with the British Pound...
Marrakesh seems to be quite overrun by tourists (not to mention the "cheap tourism" and sex tourism....
To me, Morocco is spectecular for it´s natural sites and contacts with people...

I stayed in two different Riads during my 3-day stay in Marrakech (one night in Dar Zaman and two nights in Dar Eliane). I would say that Dar Eliane is one of the most beautiful interiors I've ever seen in a building. Very traditional and Moroccan and there is a lot of attention to detail - everything from the doors to the lights are artistic in nature. The location is good (if you can find it by yourself in the Medina, but that's true for most places in the Medina!) and the manager was friendly. The reason I've given this 4 instead of 5 stars was that I thought the customer service at Dar Eliane wasn't as strong as it was in the other Riad I stayed in. The manager did not go out of her way to help us and advise us on sights in the city, etc. We had to ask and push for help. Secondly, she did not speak great English so if you're an English speaker, this poses some obstacles.

I was admittedly not prepared for the Marrakech medina environment, so the trek into the heart of the old city with its narrow streets and pedestrian/motor bike/donkey cart traffic was a big surprise. The taxi brought us as close as they could, and a local man showed us the way in for a few dirham. (In hindsight we probably should have made inbound arrangements with the Riad...) Nonetheless, after arriving the Riad manager Slimane made us feel welcome, and got us settled into a beautiful room with a private bath. If you are not comfortable with the bed & breakfast model, don't stay in a Riad. If you are, this one is spectacular. We had a lovely breakfast served to us every morning, and ordered dinner one evening which was served in a main room with a very local feel. This is well located for exploring ("getting lost") in the old city, clean and beautiful. I would recommend this riad highly.

I was only at the riad for one night, so perhaps I didn't get the full benefits from this beautiful ;place. The room was lovely, but too dark to read even with lights on, and the riad layout meant little noise insulation. I wasn't given a key or instructions on how to get in, and had to rely on a fellow guest eventually responding to my knocking on returning to the riad in the evening. No information on when breakfast might be (though when I wandered down it did appear and was nice) and a bit of confusion about taxi timing. Almost a great stay.

2 of us stayed at the Riad Dar Elaine in October 2013. We had organised our own transfer from the airport who dropped us as far as his car would allow, he then arranged a man with a handcart to take our luggage and show us the way. I would highly recommend this as we would never have found the Riad otherwise! We were greeted with Mint Tea on arrival which was a welcome sight. It would have been good if we were given a bit more information on the surroundings such as places to eat/visit, perhaps supply a welcome pack to include this, wifi details and options of food/beer etc. However when we did eventually find out that food was available we organised a meal in, which was lovely (although rather expensive for our budget). There is a great little restaurant just outside and turn right (found on the left), its very basic with little choice, but the food was fantastic at a very good price. The Riad itself has great character, clean and spacious rooms, in a location right in the middle of things (although you wouldn't know once in the Riad as it was very peaceful). Very good breakfast and friendly staff. I would highly recommend staying here to get a real taste of Marrakesh.
