We arrived at midnight at this great riad after travelling 20 hours from Canada. Philippe had arranged for a taxi from the Marrakesh airport to an entrance gate of the medina, and then a nice young gentlemen with a cart took our luggage and escorted us through the medina labyrinth to Abaka. We were given a beautiful, spacious room (#1) on the 2nd floor. When we got up in the morning, we went up to the beautiful roof-top terrace and had breakfast. We loved it up there. Younes and Adil were both gracious hosts and helped us in every way they could to help us adjust to crazy Marrakesh! Their recommendations and directions were great for site seeing. My favourite place visited was Marjorelle Gardens. The Museum of Marrakesh was a strong contender. Best restaurants for us were the Souk Cafe for a great cup of cappuccino, Dar Cherifa for lunch (this was first class, recommended by Philippe), and the Terrace des Espices for dinner (trendy and chic). Whenever we came back from the organized chaos of the streets, we enjoyed spending time at the riad because it was so nice, and we were made to feel like it was a home away from home. In the evenings, we loved to spend time on the roof terrace, and sip wine, and listen to the sounds of Morocco. We stayed 4 nights here, and afterwards, we went on an amazing 5-day desert trek to Merzouga, and then to Essaouria before returning to Marrakesh again. Thank you Philippe, Younes and Adil for making us feel so welcome and safe in Marrakesh. Morocco is an exotic and beautiful country, and we couldn't have had a more magical celebration of our 25th anniversary. Chris & Al Block, Vancouver Island, Canada.
