“Stylish Riad”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2014

Really enjoyed our stay here, and would certainly return. First impressions on arrival may be negative as it's really embedded in a maze of winding narrow streets and corridors and you have no idea what's hidden behind the huge wooden entrance door. You will need a taxi to find it if you've never been before. The staff, the decor and the atmosphere are enchanting so you quickly forget any negative reactions and let yourself slip into Marrakech mode. That is to say provided you're not against walking or strolling in the Medina as it's a bit far from the famous Place Jemma el Fna, and you'll certainly get lost in the souks whilst finding your way around. There are two solutions if this poses a problem for you, or three if you count just staying put and enjoying the riad, its shadey courtyard, roof terrace, pool, hammam, and restaurant. The first is to take a guide for the first day (supplied by the riad) or to take a taxi from the nearby market square. We enjoyed getting lost (despite our detailed map) and then finding our landmarks for future excursions. We personally found the restaurant expensive for Marrakech and would advise taking a suite rather than a standard room. Having said that the standard room we had first was on two levels with bedding for three so could have been interesting for people looking for that kind of accommodation. The staff kindly upgraded us to a suite which was infinitely more spacious and corresponded to the pictures seen in the brochure and on the internet sites.

We stayed at this Riad for three nights, 2 upon our arrival to Morocco and then 1 additional night at the end of a 5 day tour of the southern desert hinterlands. The staff, the rooms, the ambiance of this Riad is amazing. Beautiful interior courtyard, wonderful rooftop terrace, beautiful Moroccan decorating, on site lovely restaurant and small spa. The breakfast is luxurious with fresh pressed orange juice, yogurt, breads, and eggs cooked as you wish. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, naturally. We ate at the restaurant a couple times, and the food was great - of course pricier than going out into the town, but very good and convenient. They allowed us to order what we needed for our family of 6 and share as appropriate, no problems. The menu says they needed 24 hour notice for a vegetarian meal, but they did something for me the first evening on the spot. The staff were all super accommodating and wonderful. We felt really at home.

A huge bonus - when we returned from the desert tour for the one additional night before heading far south to a beach area, I was desperate to do a couple loads of laundry - 4 kids, 2 adults, gone 5 days through the desert including some camping - no more clean underwear or t-shirts! I asked for a laundromat or some self-service place since we had so much and I didn't want to do the expensive charge-per-piece route. The staff member very kindly informed me he knew of no such place in Marrakech for self-service laundry, but then he had one of their porters go with me and my laundry to a local cleaners, explain for me and ensure I could get the wash done before noon the next day. It was fabulous! That lasted the rest of our trip.

The restaurant even serves wine, bonus!

Note that the alleys leading to the Riad are full of rubble and trash - but the Riad itself is perfect, clean and amazing.

Note also that you can eat locally near the Riad by just heading a short walk torwards the city center and buying bread, Poulet Brochette, nuts, fruit, etc. We did that for a couple of our meals.

Overall, most highly recommended!

Room Tip: All the rooms are great, and we had 2 rooms for our 6 people, which worked. The best was a large roo...

Lovely riad well equiped. Loved the roof terrace.
The staff makes the difference.
A bit remote in Marrackech, which we enjoyed, if you are not too keen on getting lost in the medina or walking around you should look elsewhere.

Getting out of your car in a small market area in the north of Marrakech’s Medina, you enter a maze of narrow and windy corridors, and there at the end is a wood and brass door. Enter a different world.

Villa Nomade is quite something: an old house built around a shaded courtyard garden and fountain. Palm trees reach all the way up to the roof terrace. There is an air of calm, and great style wherever you look. Wifi is available all through.

On our first evening we ate in the dining room and particularly enjoyed an amazing salad - actually 8 delicious dishes on two silver stands. Exotic and refined.

You may hear a dove in the morning. Certainly you'll hear the early morning call to prayers.

Don't miss exploring Villa Nomade's roof terrace - a great place for breakfast or just reading and relaxing during the day.

We would recommend you explore the Medina on foot. Villa Nomade are happy to show you directions on a map. There is so much to see and people seem endlessly happy to help you find your destination.

We staid 4 nights there in family with our 2 teenagers and absolutely loved it : a beautiful Riad in a lost part of the Medina, nice discreet service and beautiful features in the hotel. This is the kind of place which is really welcome after a day in Marrakech.
Rooms may not be as big as in other high-range riads but facilities (pool, terrace, patio) are wonderful. We had our last dinner in the Riad, worth paying the price : no need to search for different ideas, try the couscous which is absolutely awsome! If we go back to Marrakech, it will be there.

Room Tip: Some rooms are kind of duplex and are really nice if you are a family. The shower design in that roo...

We were excited to try this restaurant, after reading a good review of it in our guide. Unfortunately, we paid top dollar to be seated in a cold hallway next to a brick wall, and the service was very bad from the start. All the dishes took a very long time to come out of the kitchen, and it was very hard to flag down the waitress to even get more bread. The management needs to have more waitresses on staff. Fortunately, this was the only bad dinner we had during our trip.

I stayed here for three nights with my family. It would have been hard to find if someone from the riad hadn't come to greet me! At first, the ambiance was a bit cold, but, after a fantastic mint tea and cracking a couple jokes with the staff, we began to feel right at home. The names of the rooms and their decor were fun and imaginative. I stayed in two riads in Marrakesh, and I liked that this one was in a more traditional Moroccan neighbourhood where real Moroccans live. Here, as a tourist I was not harrassed as badly as in the Jemaa el Fna area. On our last night we enjoyed a great Moroccan meal at the riad.
