“A breath of freash air and calm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2014

I recently stayed with Veronique and Jean-Marc at this Ryad and found them to be the most accommodating hosts I have ever experienced. No request or task was too much trouble. They had a wealth of information about where to get the best deals and also had no problem booking trips for us and taking us to out of the way places that we would never have seen had it not been for them. The terrace provided a beautiful retreat from the madness of the main square and souks and it was like an oasis in the heart of Marrakech. We were waited on hand and foot and Mohammed was there to make sure we had all we needed.

The ryad is very centrally located which allows easy access to the main shopping area and very close proximity to the taxis and transport to other places. The standard within the ryad is very high, clean and comfortable rooms, comfortable living room where the fire was lit for us in the evenings and any drink we required was sought and provided......truly excellent.......!! We ate in on 2 out of our 4 nights there and the food was really amazing and beautifully presented. It represented very good value for money at £15 per head for a 3 course meal.

Thank you Veronique and Jean-marc for making this trip to Marrakech a wonderful experience, you guys are truly the hosts with the most.

After coming through the front door, the hustle and bustle of the main square is left behind, and a tranquil courtyard awaits. The rooms are beautifully decorated, and comfortable. Our hosts were amazing - from Veronique calling ahead to arrange us a traditional hammam, and Jean Marc walking with us there - so we didn't get lost. We felt completely taken care of, Mohammed was always at hand with drinks on the terrace and nuts and olives to nibble on. Noel made up the rooms every morning - and even arranged my pajamas into a butterfly! We stayed in one evening to eat at the Ryad, and the food was amazing, so we planned another night of eating in! Nothing was too much trouble. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The location was perfect, very close to the center, and where we wanted to be, for shopping and exploring.
Thank you again

This Ryad was a tranquil haven to come back to after the madness of the souks. The owners and staff are amazingly friendly, going out of their way to make sure you feel at home and your every need is taken care of.

The service and cleanliness is brilliant and the food was so good.

Easy to get to the main square and to taxis if you want to go further a field.

Veronique and Jean Marc are perfect hosts. Myself and six friends recently had the pleasure of staying at Ryad Dar Ganou. We were waited on hand and foot with such care and attention. I would highly recommend this Ryad, and will be doing my best to arrange repeat visits.

I have travelled far and wide and stayed in many fancy 5 star hotels right down to beach shacks, and have never experienced such a warm welcome atmosphere and such dedicated hosts.

The French couple running this ryad is offering the best combination between a warm attention to your needs and leave you the freedom to enjoy this beautiful place for yourself. Fantastic terrace on the roof, very calm even though the main place is just two minutes walk away.
The only little minus is that if you are not at smoker, you may feel like having your window opened at night to get som fresh air brings along smoky scents you may not wish.

Room Tip: Every room in the first floor is perfect.

We were 6 hours late arriving in Marrakech on Christmas Eve, but by emailing Veronique our taxi was waiting for us at the airport. Our first meeting with Veronique and Jean-Marc,was 23.45 when they relieved us of our luggage, settled us down to some mint tea and insisted that it would be no problem to prepare us some food. We declined, but this standard of care and attention was maintained for the 2 weeks my wife and I stayed at Dar Ganou.
We loved this totally relaxing Ryad. It's perfectly situated for walking to the main square or to Marrakech's other attractions. We would spend some evenings in the open area or the lounge enjoying a bottle of wine, reading or chatting to our hosts and also to Mohammed. Oh yes Mohammed (and the two young ladies who served breakfast and kept our room immaculately clean) - we have stayed in 4* and 5* hotels who couldn't provide the level of service and friendliness that we found in the Ryad Dar Ganou. - it would be no problem to light the fire when we were in the lounge; it would be no problem to serve breakfast at 06.30 when we had a trip arranged; it would be no problem for Jean-Marc to go out onto the streets to find a lost taxi at 07.15; it would be no problem to bring a couple of beers up to the terrace; it would be no problem to provide an evening meal and it would be no problem to offer advice on what to see and do. Let me stress - it was a stress free stay for 14 days with no problems.
And a tip - the Moroccan evening meal in the Ryad compares favourably with what is available elsewhere in Marrakech; in terms of quality, flavours, freshness of ingredients and above all value for money. There was a consistency of excellence in the three meals we had in the Ryad.
On our last day my wife and I carried our first bag down the stairs. Before we could go back up for our second bag the two young ladies who were cleaning the room opposite had stopped cleaning and brought down our bag. This sums up our whole experience. A Ryad dedicated to total service in making your stay fault free. Well done Veronique and Jean-Marc and thanks for your kindness, the fun (lots) we had chatting with you and your patience with my stumbling French.
Perfect location, beautiful Ryad and wonderful people - you can't really beat that

Our stay at Ryad Dar Ganou could not have been better. Veronique and Jean Marc are the ultimate hosts. From the welcoming pot of mint tea upon our arrival, to the assistance in tour planning, they were always available and more than happy to answer any and all of our questions. The Ryad is spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. The breakfast each morning on the rooftop terrace was amazing! Plenty of fresh fruit, pastries, crepes, fresh squeezed juice, eggs, and coffee or tea. We also had an amazing meal prepared by their cook that was delicious. The location couldn't be better! It's only a 5 minute walk to the main square or the tour pickup gate. And there's a nice young man acting as security in the alleyways outside the Ryad. He never asked for money, but we tipped him on our last night and he was very appreciative. Although we never needed it, there was an air conditioner/heater in every room. The bed was one of the most comfortable sleeps I've ever had on a vacation. The room wasn't huge, but we never felt cramped and always had plenty of hot water in the spacious shower. Veronique's restaurant suggestions were all spot on and the tours she organized for us were very affordable and customized. And the driver/guide that she uses, Eunessa, was a perfect gentleman and an amazing driver. He took us to specific areas we wanted to visit and let us stop for pictures whenever we wanted! The only slight complaint that we had was that it would have been nice to have Internet connectivity in the room. But that's really nitpicking. Overall, I can't say enough good things about our stay at Ryad Dar Ganou. We're already talking about a return trip. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: The Internet is only available in public areas, but our room (Chklat) did get an intermittent connec...
