“Hicham Hotel.........(jillian Haynes/Linda Lomas)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2013

This was our second visit, and it is not going to be our last. It is excellent value for money, clean sheets and towels everyday, and for the money paid, breakfast is excellent value. The staff will do anything for you, just ask. A kettle is supplied in the room, (its normal to take your own tea and coffee),a fridge can be requested, and there is a safe in the room. The Hotel is central, near to the train/bus station, two large supermarkets, 15minute drive from the airport, plenty of restaurants and shopping, and a taxi ride away from Djemma el Fna. (sometimes a minimum charge applies, so check first)
We stayed 09/12/11 for nine days, and again, 30/11/13 for one week, and loved it, and have no complaints, and would recommend it to all of those who prefer the simple things in life.

Room Tip: Ask to look at the room first, and then at a couple of other available rooms.

This was my first time at this hotel and I was not impressed. The breakfast was bland and the same thing was served everyday, the food in the evening was appalling. There was no wifi connection in the rooms you always had to go to main reception. You had to ask to have the bed sheets changed. My own personal iron had broken down and in the whole of the hotel there was not one single iron. Reception staff often ignored any requests you made and the manager did not know how to speak to guests. I would not recommend this hotel as it should be a one star.

Arrived at the hotel, staff were friendly, room and facilities were clean and hygienic. Breakfast is behind honest bland and dry but it's ok for maybe two days... There isn't much for choice, so I suggest you eat out as there are some top quality french restaurants nearby. Pool - was ok to swim in could do with a clean on the sides but that didn't really bother me. Cleaners clean the rooms every day without fail making sure you are topped up on bog roll and have clean sheets if needed,& towels. Location is prime excellent routes to wherever you want to go and taxis just round the corner.
Some of the downsides;
air conditioning broke and leaked water over me in the night- we were given another room rather swiftly

there is a nightclub next door which does play loud thudding music till all hours.. We were on the fourth floor and heard the vibrations through the walls. When your trying to sleep at night can be a bit disturbing, I think by day 3 the sound fizzled out and I got used to it

But don't let that put you off going Marrakech

I have enjoyed staying in this Hotel over a few years. The Reception staff, are friendly and
helpful, and speak good English. The hotel is very clean throughout. The rooms are modern
and convenient, the beds changed daily, and towels also. The pool area, although smallish
is comfortable, and family's can enjoy the peace and quiet of Gueliz.
I would stay here again, at any time. J. Dodd. Stayed Nov.'12

Room Tip: Rooms on the 4th floor are the best, as there is a night club adjacent, but can hear very little on...

After reading all these bad reviews expected it to be terrible.
It's in a really good location:
close to the train station, which is good for day trips to essauria with supratours,
close to all the guide book reccomended restraunts, i.e kechmara, al fasia the loft,
a 20 min walk or 20dh taxi ride to the souks and theres acima a supermarket round the corner.
Breakfast was basic and the TV had no english channels... but it was clean with free wifi, working air con and quiet at night.
The pool was actually quite a decent size and nice to sit next to, was sunny there for quite a long period of the day as well (contrary to another review).
to be honest it was cheap and if you want to stay in the heart of the old town i guess you'd pay more, but I would much prefer to stay in guilez because it's more european feeling and less intimidating.

Room Tip: we were third floor facing the pool and it was quiet but we didn't have a balcony, perhaps ask t...

Stayed here for 7 days, the hotel is obviously a little worn, the showers were temperamental, but this is Africa, bear in mind how little of its population actally have running water at all, and cut them some slack.

The hotel is in a fairly quiet street next to a great ice cream parlour, not a long walk from a supermarket (which sells cheap booze), near some nice bars and close to a brilliant pizza restaurant. All of this under subdued Moroccan street lights that let you see the stars above you.

The madness of Djemma El Fna is an easy walk via olive and orange tree lined roads, with a great state controlled (and priced) rug and craft shop en route.

This is a very civilised way to experience Marrakech.

This is a cheap hotel in a cheap part of town, it's basic but very clean with nice friendly staff. It IS a bit quirky (the bar full of 'ladies of the night is true'!) but we sat outside and enjoyed beer, chips and harissa over the free wifi. For two blokes on a tourism photo shoot it was a great room share.

Approach with a Western wallet and an African heart!

Room Tip: Ask for a room aqt the back overlooking the pool, nice and quiet and you can spy on the building opp...

We stayed over Xmas holidays from the 21th of December2012 till the 3rd of January 2013.The only saving grace was the people on the reception who were very helpful and tried their best to be accommodating under the circumstances. We managed to have hot water once. They moved us to another room which they promised the water situation was better but to no avail. The air conditioning didn't work, the kettle was broken and we had no bidet but only exposed pipes where they removed the bidet. The breakfast was O.K. but very boring after a while. It was the worse Hotel We ever stayed in Marrakesh,we certainly wouldn't advise anyone to stay there.the maids never cleaned our room ,only changed the bathroom towels.

Room Tip: our 4th floor was quire noisy. They had a club playing loud noise till very late at night.Rooms on si...
