“A beautiful riad”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The location of this hotel is perfect for a stay in Marrakesh as it is minutes from the main square. The riad is beautifully restored and is an oasis in the busy Medina. Ask for a room on the second floor as being near the restaurant could be noisy. The staff are really friendly and helpful.

The restaurant is upmarket and very nice. They have a cheaper deal for hotel guests. They don't start serving until around 7:30pm. There are lots of restaurants close by to eat at too.

We stayed in the Emir room and it was fairly small but fine for us. It was very quiet. The bathroom was actually quite large with a bath and shower over bath, but no holder for the shower head so you had to hold onto it the whole time, which was annoying. Also, the shower pressure was weak and the temperature would go hot and cold.

The wifi was very slow and didn't work for about half the time we tried to use it.

As with most riad accommodation, you can't be driven right to the riad because of all the narrow alleyways. I recommend booking an airport transfer through the hotel as it will drop you at the square and someone from the hotel will meet you there to show you to the hotel. Otherwise it would be confusing to find when you first arrive.

Overall, this is a beautiful riad with lovely staff. I would love to give it 5 stars, but I have given it 4 because of the shower temperature and pressure and the poor wifi. I would definitely stay here again though.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the second floor away from the restaurant.

We were welcomed with Moroccan tea and pastries and received very helpful and friendly service. Sitting in the courtyard whilst eating and drinking was so peaceful and a great way to start our holiday. Our room was beautiful and the roof terrace was a cool and a great place to relax after a busy day sight seeing.
Nothing that we asked for was to much trouble and staff were keen to ensure our stay in Morooco was as good as possible. They recommended things to do and not to do, restaurants to visit, booked taxis and made dinner reservations and arranged an earlier breakfast for the day of our departure.
We also ate at the riad one evening and had a delicious dinner with wine, tasting many traditional foods.

We would thoroughly recommend this Riad and would stay again if in Morocco.

We had a fantastic 3 night stay at Riad Monceau. Room was perfect - not huge but beautiful. Bath was amazing. We arrived to find our room decorated to celebrate our wedding & my husband's birthday. Staff were friendly and helpful, organising restaurants (although food in the hotel was fabulous!). Thank you for making our 1st visit to Marrakech so special.

We wanted to stay in the heart of the Medina and was not disappointed with this beautiful riad. Excellent location, although as others have said, easiest to book the airport transfer in advance and let the porter take the strain of trying to find this gem at the bottom of a small lane (derb). Handy for all the big visitor sites and also the feel of traditional Marrakech. Riad Monceau is quality throughout; location, style, accommodation, food, service and atmosphere. A quiet oasis from the full on noise and excitement that is the old walled town of Marrakech.

It's all been said before. Wonderful Riad right by Jemaa el Fna. Lovey staff, top restaurant and comfortable rooms. Transfer to and from airport is money well spent. Recommended place for some calm amongst the madness that is Marrakech.

We pre-booked the airport transfers as advised and were so glad we did. It would not have been easy to find if it was your first trip to Marrakech on a hot day with all the luggage. A porter met the taxi and took care of everything.
We were greeted with mint tea given a brief overview of facilities, a list of recommended restaurants and a local map. It just happens to be a highly rated restaurant in its own right and has been used in BBC cookery programmes.
Although totally rebuilt a few years ago it retains lots of fascinating detail. The bath was made from mosaic tiles and they have their own hammam which was wonderful.

What really stood out though was the friendliness of the staff, particularly "Rizlane", She thought nothing of running a couple of refreshments to the roof terrace from her ground floor post. It was so peaceful and hard to believe just a 2 minute walk from the main square with the non-stop frantic bartering, drumming etc.

Room Tip: Only experienced one room but looking at the hard back book covering the rebuild, with before and af...

A beautiful riad decorated throughout with taste. Calm and comfortable, yet a moment away from the Jemaa el Fna. Charming staff, and a great restaurant which served the best food we had in Marrakech... we ate there three times...
