Please make sure you read the entire post, thank you! As we pack tonight to leave the most delightful riad in Marrakesh we wanted to take time to say our thanks to a very special group of people and to let anyone that is thinking of staying at the Riad Monceau that they cannot go wrong. We made our decision in September to come to Morocco and we did not give our travel agent much time to make arrangements. “Travel in Style” located in San Francisco worked diligently with their Moroccan partner “Voyage Paradis” in Casablanca to make the trip come together in less than 30 days. We have started our trip in Marrakesh and that could not have been better. Walking down the narrow walkway in the medina into the Riad Monceau was intriguing and we had no idea the delight that was behind the heavy wood door. This riad was bought and restored by Isabelle Aubrey approximately 13-15 years ago. Her attention to detail is not missed from the lovely architecture, to the extraordinary food and the superb staff. Our first introduction to the caring staff was at our check in when Ghizlone greeted us and saw to our every need. Each morning at breakfast we were served with a smile and care by Lahinia and Souad. The wait staff at dinner quickly new our desires and treated us like we had been coming to the riad many times over. Said and Ibrohim were there to make sure our dinners were delivered with great care. But of course how can I talk about the great dinners without giving Rachida Sahnoune the fabulous chef credit. My husband who is a very picky eater tasted everything and even enjoyed eggplant that he would never had tasted at home. The ambiance in the evening sitting either around the lovely pool in the garden area or under the crystal chandeliers in the salon seemed like we were in a fairy tale. The 3rd night of our stay my husband had a health scare. Being in a strange city and country he was very concerned. But after letting Oumaima, at the front desk, know of our situation we felt much more at ease. She checked with her supervisor and with Isabelle and assured us if anything happened in the night we would be taken care of. We knew Mohamed and Boujame were always just a call way to be of help. We knew that a doctor would be on call if we needed him and that they were there to make sure we had what we needed. Thankfully the health problem subsided and we did not need to call on any of these people but knowing there was an entire crew on standby for us allowed us to go to bed without worry. On our last day I decided after hours of hiking in the Atlas Mountains and seeing the Berber villages I need to go to the spa. Ghizlone (a different lady) in the hammam/spa was the best. I have never had the scrubs, facial and massage like what she did.
As you can see I have spent a lot of time on the people of the Riad Monceau, that is taking nothing away from the beautiful restoration, the good beds, or the level of comfort the physical building gives you. But without the people the building is just a building. Congratulations to Isabelle Aubrey and her staff on a superbly run riad/hotel/experience.

Room Tip: I think all of the rooms are good. Very quiet inside the riad.

This beautiful hidden riad in the old medina in Marrakech is delightful. The atmosphere is romantic, the rooms stylish and comfortable and the food is excellent. The pool is refreshing and the roof garden is a lovely place to relax or to have a drink . The staff are friendly and helpful. The central position near the famous square makes shopping easy. I thoroughly recommend this Riad.

High quality surroundings and excellent service. Staff speak very good English as well as French.
Everyone within this hotel was very friendly and helpful.
What an amazing cookery workshop in tranquil surroundings that was extremely good value for money. The award winning chef Rachida Sahnoun holding the workshop was patient and made the day much fun within the professional hotel kitchen. There was much laughter and a relaxed atmosphere amongst the kitchen staff, the chef and myself which made me feel very welcome.
To make my experience even more special I was able to purchase the hotel`s cookery book which was also signed by owner and chef. Perfect day, a perfect experience and perfect staff!

We recently stayed for a romantic holiday and this Riad was outstanding. The staff were friendly, always smiling and very polite. The room was stunning, very clean and just a lovely surprise.

I treated myself to an oriental hammen two-day spa treatment at this Riad and the experience was fabulous, just make sure you drink lots of water afterwards. The dinner experience brought fantastic food (the tagine is a must), the staff mix a great gin & tonic and the breakfast provided was lovely. The front desk staff will book experiences in Marrakech that you want through legitimate companies (we were slightly unsure to do this ourselves).

This Riad was a magical experience.

Room Tip: We stayed in the ground level "Sultan" room. This was right by the inner pool.

We recently held my 50th birthday party at Riad Monceau for 34 family and friends! From the very outset ALL the staff were charming, helpful and so willing to make this event the best that they could achieve for us. Ghizlane was really lovely and genuinely caring and involved paying extra special attention to all the little details that made it so personal and special. The evening was magical as we started off our party with drinks on the roof terrace with the sun going down.....the dining room was perfect and the table was decorated just as we asked. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We shall treasure very very happy memories of my birthday party which truly magical in every way. I cannot recommend this lovely Riad highly enough, lovely staff including the shy French owner who was charming to us and so helpful....perfect location. Great rooms, delicious food, WONDERFUL attentive service. PERFECT.

We were welcomed by the owner, and did not find her cold or without eye contact.Ghiziane had the morning off but when she was in we found her so helpful and knowledgeable and all the other things written about her, we found all the staff friendly, welcoming and out to please.
Rhe Riad hotel is really beautiful and with it's location, minutes from the main El Jerman Square.
We had upgraded and had a really large room, comfortable bed,and all very clean. The bathroom was very spacious and had a wonderful sunken tiled jacuzzi(it does take about 30mins to fill)but who'se in a hurry?Double wash basin(no plug)but if we had bothered to ask we had no doubt that would have been sorted.During the day the sun throws a beautiful light through the roof coloured glass in the jacuzzi area of the room we were in,
The breakfast was continental style with lovely fresh breads and croissants,if you want cooked eggs they are done as requested.
The restaurant has a high reputation and has a Taster style menu,as we could not manage the several courses they accommodated us as hotel guests by just choosing what we wanted and charged us accordingly. It was very good. The only negative comment is that smoking is allowed during dinner and this we found off putting.
As the hotel is so near the square there are numerous restaurants to choose from,we ate in several in nearby streets and found them good value.
The Dar Essalem restaurant in the same street as the Monceau is also very good
There is a small pool on the ground floor and tables are put around it at night for dining, really romantic. The roof terrace is good for sunbathing but also plenty of shade.Lovely touch to put sunhats on the loungers.
We loved it here and say thank you for such a lovely time spent.

Room Tip: The only sounds we heard were from a local Mosque call to prayer but it was not for us disruptive,af...
