“Perfect Riad with unbeatable location in Old Marrakech”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2011

This really is the perfect Marrakech Riad - quiet and romantic, with beautiful Moroccan architecture - and just 100 steps from the main square which makes each and every visit safe and easy. Most places of interest are of easy reach within short walking distance.

Rooms were spacious, very clean and well looked after. The breakfasts were excellent and freshly prepared each morning. Riad Monceau has also a great restaurant where we enjoyed a very nice and romantic meal; Most of all, from arriving through to departure all staff were fantastic. Very attentive without smothering and able to assist every time.

Certainly a place I would love to return to.

Le Riad Monceau is an oasis of tranquility just yards from the mayhem that is the main square. The hotel is superb and it’s so true it has a fantastic location, so near everything and within walking distance to most major attraction. Though really close to the Djema El Fna – say 2 minutes walk - it’s so quiet and peaceful when you get back after a long day in the hustle and bustle of Marrakesh.

The staff are not only really helpful and friendly but very attentive without being in your face. Our maid Soumia was a gem. Thank you Soumia for such kindness and for being so helpful!!

All in all, this riad really ticks all the boxes and, with so many places to choose from in Marrakech, we felt as though we had struck gold!! We will recommend it to anyone going to Marrakech.

We did not stay at Le Riad Monceau, but we had the BEST meal we had in Morocco here. They have a set 4-5 course meal every night. They use all fresh local produce and meat. Honestly it was so delicious, I am still thinking about it. The staff was wonderful and the setting was exquisite. They had a great wine list, with local and French wines. Go for the Morocco Argan red wine! I highly recommend this place for a quiet, romantic dinner. Reserve a table by the plunge pool, you will not be sorry.

There were six ladies in our party and we were immediately made very welcome by all the staff. We felt very safe and secure. The Riad is just amazing, very authentically refurbished with every attention to detail. The three rooms my friends and I occupied were all of a very high standard and extremely clean

The location couldn't have been better, just a couple of minutes walk to the square, but very peaceful once inside.

The swimming pool is more of a plunge pool, which we found useful when we came back from one of our trips, but the water was rather cold, which we were warned about by a member of staff. Still very enjoyable once we'd braved the water!

We had a meal there on our first evening, which was beautifully presented and delicious. Breakfast is usually served between 8am - 10am, but on three mornings we needed to leave much earlier for the trips we had booked and the staff made sure that breakfast was ready for us, even as early as 6.00am!

One of our group tried a massage which she said was fantastic

Overall, we couldn't have asked for more. This Riad should definitely be at the top of the most popular Riads in Marrakesh. You won't be disappointed!

This boutique hotel owned by french designer Isabelle Aubry is SUPERB. Very romantic venue. Brilliant location - right in the middle of the market square and walking distance to all the sites. But it's unbelievably quiet for such a central location - a real oasis of luxury and calm amid the bustle of the historical centre.
As for the hotel itself it cannot be faulted. Beautifully decorated and furnished and because it’s only 7 rooms, most of the time the place is really quiet and you have the common areas (bar/lounge/rooftop terraces/pool area) to yourself. Spa on-site was also great. Must definitely give it a try.
Staff genuinely friendly and sincere, creating a home-like atmosphere to the place. Lovely small touches - a fresh rose every day in the en-suite bathroom, rose petals scattered over our bed and chocs on our pillow each night… And there was fruit and water in the room when we arrived.
Food in the on-site Moroccan restaurant was fab too. The 2 dinners we had there were delightful moments.
All in all ONE OF THE BEST BOUTIQUE we ever stayed in. Definitely a place we would love to return to.
Tip: in case you do not book your accommodation direct with the hotel we recommend booking airport transfers with them anyway: much better standard of vehicle and in the end cheaper than haggling over the airport taxis. Recommend also making reservations at the restaurant well in advance as they cannot accommodate many people and the place is very popular.

My husband and I stayed in Le Riad Monceau for a three day break in March and found the total experience to be fantastic. The staff are so helpful and friendly and the Riad is everything you would want and expect. The location is ideal, just a minute away from the main square.
Would have no hesitation at all in visiting Le Riad Monceau again.

I just logged into Trip Advisor and remembered i hadn't rated my stay at this awesome Riad. Then noticed they have been penalised for false reviews, i find this a shame as every review i read originally stacked up and was the reason we booked. Hopefully you'll find this review although think it's unlikely now if your just browsing trip advisor for your perfect retreat as they have been shunted to 179 on the list - My opinion NOT FAIR.
The stay was perfect from start to finish, we were collected on time from the airport and taken to the main square where another chap greeted us and took our luggage and guided us during a short walk to the Riad itself. When the doors opened we soon realised we had made the right choice leaving behind us the craziness that is marrakech to discover a perfect oasis of serenity.
Mint Tea and pastries on arrival, then up to our suite. We were lucky be able to book the Pasha Suite and yes the Jacuzzi is as amazing as it looks on the Website. Spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and a huge bed. You will not want to leave this room but if you do make sure you dine in the restaurant - Food is devine. The staff were so friendly and helpful both prior to and during the stay. I try very hard to find fault in most places i visit but can honestly say it's Perfect.
Couple of tips if you want to experience a really good meal take a taxi to the new part of the city, the restaurants are first class and no different to what you would find in any good district of a European city. If you decide to stay and eat in the Medina in my opinion you will be playing roulette, i'm sure there are some lovely restaurants there we were just unlucky in finding one.
Hopefully Le Riad-Monceau will solve there grievance with Trip Advisor and this hotel will once again return to one of the top listings where it belongs!

Dear guest,
Thank you very much for this.
As you have noticed some people have obviously decided to give Riad Monceau a hard time on the Internet and I can assure you the support we received from our true and real guests is mostly appreciated by all our staff members. They are the ones that really matter to us ; they give so much to our guests and to ourselves that we definitely owe them all a big THANK YOU.
