“Very cool”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

My daughters and i stayed at this great Riad on our recent trip to Morocco. It is an incredibly cool place to stay which is so close to the main square and all of the action that Marrakech has to offer. The Riad has a great rooftop area with a cooling spa and lots of areas to sit and relax and enjoy the traditional surroundings and always played great music. The staff are very helpful and friendly with Mahmoud walking us around to the square and explaining how to get around so we wouldn't get lost. The owner Olivier was very engaging and offered good advise about things to do and places to go. Great stay!

The perfect place to stay in Marrkesh! Only a hop, skip and a jump away from the main square with a spa, comfortable beds, lovely breakfast and friendly staff-this place is amazing!

The staff are not only happy to show you something on a map, but actaully offer to walk you there! Huge Thank you to Oliver and Momo for such a warm welcome.
Only thing I would change is my length of stay-I didn't want to leave!

My wife and I stayed at this lovely riad during the second week of September, and we have to say it was an amazing experience. There are many aspects that we can talk about, so I will try to break it down for future visitors:

1. Location – The riad is located in the heart of Marrakech’s Old Medina, and it is only five minutes walking distance to the Jemaa el Fna square. While everything is conveniently located, the riad feels like a quiet oasis in the dessert after a hot day of walking and exploring the busy streets of Marrakech.
2. Commodities – We stayed in the Walida room, and they accommodated us with a double bed. The room feels really cozy, and the decoration has an African theme, which is obviously very fitting. We had a private bathroom in the room, and the overall cleanliness was superior. I will also like to comment that I was in contact with Ollie prior to our visit, and he will make sure you get the room that matches your needs. Additionally, a taxi cab was arranged in advance to take us to the airport. Do not hesitate to ask.
3. Gastronomy – Breakfast was great and plentiful. Freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh bread, fresh fruits, croissants, pancakes and FREE of charge. Dinner was simply amazing. By far, the best tagine we had during our stay in Morocco. I would highly recommend that all guests have dinner at least once during your stay. You will need to let the staff know in advance, so make sure you book your dinner reservation.
4. Atmosphere – One thing you will notice upon arrival is how comfortable you will feel at this riad. The first thing you will encounter is the lovely courtyard with chessboard. There is always a soothing selection of music playing in the background, and the roof terrace is a phenomenal place to relax. There is also a nice selection of white, red and rose wine along with local beer.
5. Staff – I saved that best for last. The staff is truly what makes this place special. Right from the second you set foot in Dar Najat, the entire staff is ultra-accommodating. We were greeted by Olli as soon as we arrived, and he made us feel right at home. We were asked to set our luggage down and move to the roof terrace for some refreshments. Instead of making the check-in experience a simple business transaction, the staff will go out of their way to make sure you know everything there is to know about the place, the location and the tourists’ attractions. Mido was an amazing staff member, incredible tour guide and overall wonderful person. He showed us a local map and provided us with the best tips of what to do and what not to do. He walked us all the way to the Jemaa el Fna square to make sure that we knew how to get there and how to get back. Mido, along with Momo, will make sure that all guests are taken care of at all times. The rest of the staff was equally friendly and accommodating. Excellent!

Overall, our stay at Dar Najat was an incredibly positive one. I would highly recommend this place to family, friends and future visitors. If you are going to visit Marrakech, do not look any further and book your stay at Dar Najat.

My boyfriend and I had booked Dar Najat based on the amazing reviews we have read and we were not disappointed, in fact they surpassed our expectations. We arrived a day early, early in the morning, without any notice to Dar Najat. We met Momo who was so gracious and gave us a room to rest and cool beverages while we recovered from a horrible excursion in the Sahara that we arranged from Fes. We didn't know what to do and decided to try our luck by going to Dar Najat a day early. We have traveled all over and I have to say that this hospitality experience was one of the best, if not the best, we have ever experienced. They arranged a great driver to take us around and personally walked us over to the bazaar. We ate there almost for every meal and it is the best food we had in Morocco. We were also traveling to other countries after this and they arranged for our shopping to be shipped to the States for us and it arrived perfectly and on time like they promised. I think what makes this place special is that Oliver and Momo and everyone else genuinely love what they do and the people they meet. They really care if you are happy and it shows in their service and at Dar Najat. We spoke about Momo for days after, he was so funny and Oliver was so kind. We look forward to visiting again and wish them the best.
Dar Najat is simply magical. Enjoy!

We couldn't have had a better experience. The staff are what make this riad exceptional: they bent over backwards to be helpful, showing us where was good to eat, shop and then sweat it all out in the hammam. The dinner we had at the riad was also one of the best meals we had: an exceptional tagine and everything prepared with lots of tlc. There is a lovely terrace to retreat to after a day in the city and to enjoy breakfast on in the morning. I would definitely stay here if I return to Marrakesh. I hope Mido will still be there!

This was the best place ever to stay! Mido deserves a special mention as he really went out of his way to make our trip a success. Mido, Momo and Oliver were the perfect hosts, taking us around town, taking us to restaurants, recommending shops, spas and things to do. The Riad is wonderful - beautifully decorated, clean and well kept. Breakfast was yummy and the evening meal was the best we had for the duration of our trip and very reasonably priced. I would not hesitate to come and stay here again!

We went on to stay in a 5* spa hotel in Essaouira and the service, breakfast and atmosphere were not even close to the great time we had at dar Najat. Well done team - keep up the good work!

This riad was a great finding, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in it. Here is a detailed list of the good and bads.
Good:
-Great location, just a 5 min walk from some of the main attractions in the Medina, and plenty of shops at a block from the riad, but far enough so that it is quiet at night.
-Very nice building and african decor with great terrace where breakfast is served every day and where you can enjoy the sun in the sunbeds or jacuzzi.
-Fantastic music selection that sets the mood for relaxing holidays.
-Great staff, from the cooks to the owner all of them are super friendly and helpfull and are happy to share their tips to make your trip easier.
-Great sleep quality (I mentioned already it is very quiet, and beds are super comfortable).
-Very generous nice breakfast
-Good internet speed available in any part of the building.
-Serves alcohol!

Bad:
-Bathroom was very clean but not the most comfortable one and it did not have toiletries or hair drier (not that you need it too much in that weather anyways).
-I found it a bit pricey and the exchange rate they used to calculate how much I needed to pay in local currency was significantly higher than on the currency exchange offices thorughout the Medina.

Hi and thanks for your lovely post!
We have been more than glad having the chance having you in Dar Najat and do wish having the pleasure to see you back!
Just a (very! small point.. concerning rates & co. .we use a very friendly rate of one euro for 11,14 dh. . which is the middle rate from buying/rate and far more friendly than the sell one you can find in exchange offices or banks and by the huge majority of hotels which are just using the sell rates dear friend..
Just a small precision to clarify..!
Sincerely yours, Oliver.
