“a super riad in a great location with superb staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2011

We spent 4 nights recently in this riad on our first trip to Morocco. What a good place to start! The airport transfer went smoothly and we received a great welcome on arrival - cold beers while sitting on a wonderful, peaceful terrace. We had a meal in the riad on our first evening and that was great. Our room - the Sakina- was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The staff here are great - they give you a mobile phone so that you can phone the riad if you get lost in the medina. They sent one of the staff as a guide on our first solo trip to the square but it is easy to find once you have done it once. Breakfast in this hotel is excellent. I don't like buffets, getting up and down all the time. Here you get served at your table with pastries, crepes, omelettes, juice, bread and coffee. So relaxing! There is so much to do and see in the medina and you can walk from the Dar Najat to most places. We always felt safe walking around at all times of the day and evening. The Moroccan people are very friendly but don't let the kids guide you too often! Use your map- the square, souks,Bahia palace and Badii palace to name a few of the good things to do but there is always something interesting around the corner. We stood with the crowd and saw the King go to prayers! Great atmosphere. The Jardin majorelle is worth a trip- easy to get a petit taxi if you get tired walking! There is so much to see in the medina that 4 days is really necessary. I feel so sad that the bombing in the square has happened - the atmosphere in the square was amazing but Marrakesh will bounce back! It is such a friendly place and somewhere really worth visiting.Lots of nice cafes where you can get a coffee or juice and watch the world go by. The Dar Najat makes a really good base and the staff really helped us with information. The courtyard and terrace mean that when you get tired you can come back to the riad and chill out for a while in a really calm environment. I have no hesitation in recommending this riad mainly because of the helpful staff but also because it is such a comfortable and friendly place to be in such a bustling and lively city.

Room Tip: The Sakina was very nice!

The riad was advertised as the coolest in Marrakech - as I have never been to Marrakech previously, it is difficult to verify, but if it is not the friendliest place, there must be some marvellous ones around. Having booked for a week for myself and my wife and two friends, we were "entitled" to be met at the airport and to have a meal on our arrival. Both of these were excellent, with the representative awaiting us at the airport, and helped us very willingly with our luggage. He then took us through the hectic alleys which make up the Medina of Marrakech, and led us down a little alley to a fairly plain frontage which was Dar Najat - however once inside the riad was delightful. The meal provided was delicious, but even before that Olivier had sat down with us and provided a map and a mobile phone in case we got lost in the souks, etc. He went over the various tourist places which we might wish to see, and answered our questions. The entire staff was great - not only did they provide everything we requested (especially drinks every time we came in from exploring), but they did it all with a great sense of humour and a smile always on their faces. The location is wonderful - only a 5 minute walk to the main square, and the advice we received from all the staff was excellent. The only word of warning is that the rooms are quite small, but this did not unduly worry us, as we spent our time either out (in Marrakech and on a day trip into the High Atlas Mountains - organised by Olivier) or up on the sun terrace at the top of the building, from which the views are great.

This traditional Riad has been thoughtfully restored. Superbly located for exploring this fascinating city on foot. it is a haven of peace and tranquillity away from the hustle and bustle of Marrakesh. Breakfast, taken on the roof terrace, was plentiful and varied. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. A wonderful experience for our first visit to Morocco.

Room Tip: Easy to find from the big square.

My daughter and her three friends stayed in Dar Najat after they finished Uni last year. Their host Olivier and the staff were excellent and looked after them extremely well whilst they were there. I've just returned from Marrakech where I had the pleasure of meeting Olivier and his team, as well as visiting Dar Najat. I would thoroughly recommend a stay. They remembered the girls well and clearly enjoyed having them stay, as much as they enjoyed being there. My visit was memorable. Interestingly, I saw absolutely no sign of unrest in Marrakech and we felt very safe.

Room Tip: Book early and explain your requirements clearly.

Arrived in Marrakech at lunchtime, picked up and transported to our hotel, to be met with friendly, smiling staff and a welcome beer. The stay only got better after this. The room we had (Walida) was clean and comfortable with an en-suite with a good, hot shower. The Riad is well positioned being only 5 minutes from the main square. The staff took us there the first time so that we didn't get lost, and gave us a mobile phone with all their numbers programmed in, in case we got lost or needed any help with anything - this was reassuring to two girls new to the sights and sounds of Marrakech.
The Riad really made our stay in Marrakech. It was a sanctuary from the madness in the main square and the friendly, helpful staff had a great sense of humour and made time to chat to us when we were about. The ambience at the Riad is great, partly helped by the layout including a rooftop terrace where we invariably bumped into other guests and shared our stories of our places we had been, and got tips on other places to visit.
In summary, I couldn't fault it, and feel that Riad dar Najat made our stay in Morocco extra special. I look forward to visiting again!

Dar Najat is a very special place. The riad itself is beautiful and the staff exceptional. We loved every minute spent here. We ate at Dar Najat on the evening of our arrival and this was one of the best meals we had whilst in Morocco. The decor is tasteful, rooms comfortable with lovely en-suite facilities (constant hot water, clean towels each day etc.). Breakfasts are great with freshly squeezed orange juice, superb coffee and a variety of food each day. The staff make a real effort. They are friendly without being intrusive and can't do enough to ensure all guests are happy and relaxed. The riad is just a few minutes walk away from the madness of Marakech(!) but it is quiet and restful. I will definitely be returning!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with windows to the outside

Dear Sir,
Thanks for your contribution.
We have the pleasure to receive guests from all around the world and a the opposite of your post are for the huge majority very glad to be staying in our riad.
Why didn’t you complain if you had the feeling to more or less have a terrible stay Sir?
So far..we’re very concerned by the welfare of our guests and do our real best to provide a more than very welcoming atmosphere and treat our riad and travelers with the hugest care Sir..that’s why. your first post on trip concerning our guest house first..is not very pleasant and I have to say I don’t agree(at all!) with all points a part of the (usual )kindness of our guests!
I would also say that our accommodation's rate are not 95 euro/night Sir.if you just have a look to our website and all different booking agency dar najat is working with..
Don't you mixed the place with an other??
.. as obviously after checking all websites with the hugest attention..any fellow traveler will notice there's not one room in dar najat..in low or hught season which is at 95 euro/night Sir..

We’re anyway very sad to read your “contribution” again even if for sure we do respect your point of view..and don’t agree at all dear sir and wish you to be much happier for your next trip.
Faithfully, Oliver
