“Quiet retreat in centre of Kasbah”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2011

After experiencing the hussle and bussle of Marrakesh, we found Riad Ksiba to be a more than welcome retreat. The Riad has been beautifully restored and is well kept.

We have never experienced such excellent hospitality: from arranging taxis, booking restaurants, planning day trips and even running out to the nearest shop to change money for us!

In addition to this the food was amazing! As well as the excellent breakfast selection, we had several of our meals at the Riad and the kefta meatballs were some of the best we've had - excellent value as well.

A tip for future travellers: Try to arrange an airport transfer with Riad Ksiba, as your taxi driver may not know where it is.

Room Tip: Although more expensive, the rooms upstairs are more lavish, and relaxing, definately worth paying t...

“Quiet, comfortable Riad”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2011

After being dumped by the taxi driver at the gate of the Medina, we eventually found the Riad with help from a couple of locals. Unfortunately it seemed closed, but after a short wait and a phone call, Ali came to let us in. It happened that the man (Hassan) who normally takes care of things had taken his wife to the hospital. Ali's welcome was lovely with mint tea & biscuits.

The Riad was charming and clean, with large rooms and en suite bathroom. There were many traditional fittings and furnishings. With the lovely touch of rose petals strewn on surfaces in the bedroom and bathroom.

The Riad is situated in a quite street in the Kasba, but within 2 or 3 mins you will arrive in the busy streets of the old town with traditional Moroccan butchers, food and craft shops. (Watch out for the mopeds that whizz pass, Ali says to walk with your back to the traffic and leave it to the riders to avoid you!)

Ali was a good host and very kindly escorted us into the main square (Jemaa el Fna) and back with endless information on the way. The square is a good 15 minutes walk and I would suggest you wear some comfortable shoes. The sights, sounds and smells were amazing. He also organised a taxi for us to be collected the next day and transfered to our next destination of Ouirgane in the Atlas mountains.

After a comfortable nights sleep, a very nice breakfast was served in the courtyard and consisted of pancakes and bread with jam, coffee and fresh orange juice. Hassan even cut down some bananas for us from the tree growing there!

Although our stay was pleasant, we were the only people there and it lacked atmosphere, I would have liked to have sat on the roof terrace and read, but all the beds had been packed away. having said that, I'm sure if I had asked, Ali or Hassan would have obliged.

“Best place I've ever stayed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2011 via mobile

The rooms, ambience, service, everything was amazing. Although slightly away from the main square it is a pleasant walk or short journey. The service was very personal and attentive and the food excellent. I would not think twice about going back and have recommended to friends.

“Amazing find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2011

This place was an amazing find! Tucked away in the old quarter of the city,
Raid Kasiba offer a tranquil retreat from the hustle and bustle of the town.
Great rooms, spick and span with king size beds, air con, huge bathrooms,
loads of storage for belongings. All the rooms look on to the cool shaded
courtyard. Great roof terrace with sun lounges & open tented area to relax in,
or go down to the seating room if you just want a quiet read.
Very friendly and helpful staff, perfects English, French & Italian spoken.
Cheers Riad Kasiba, I’ll be coming back.
Tony / Fordingbridge, UK.

Room Tip: double rooms with king size or queen or twin beds

“A little sanctuary”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2011

Situated in the Kasbah, the Riad Ksiba is a delightful escape from the madness of the main city. Once behind the imposing front door, you enter a little sanctuary. The Riad is very close to the Bab Ksiba, a main gate into the Kasbah and for those too lazy to walk 15 minutes into town, they can readily pick up a taxi anywhere.

Our visit included a week out trekking in the Atlas mountains and desert. We suggested an itinerary and the staff found us an excellent guide in Mohamed Amzil at www.tizitrekking.com. After an exhausting but exhilarating week, the riad made a great place to unwind.

The nice thing about being in the Kasbah is that you see real life. I didn’t fancy a luxury spa/golf resort myself and walking into town is a bit of an assault on the senses dodging mopeds and horse drawn carriages, curious locals and food bars, but isn’t that the charm of staying in the thick of it? Tiny shops line the main lane into town and after a few days we seemed to be recognised buying in regular and cheap supplies.

The staff are particularly helpful, suggesting trusted and affordable restaurants and cafes. The breakfasts were simple but great and we particularly liked the local pancakes. There were sweet touches such as fresh rose petals scattered around. The roof top terrace is a great place to chill out and the communal areas are filled with lovely artefacts and soft furnishing which make this a real special place to stay.
