“A beautiful small hotel in an excellent location...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2011

We had a wonderful stay here in January. We arranged our airport transfers, which were perfect, through the hotel, and prebooked a meal there on the first night - a traditional Moroccan tagine which we enjoyed. We had a large upstairs room, and everything was clean and well-cared for. The inner courtyards are beautiful, as is the rooftop terrace. Mousef was very helpful and arranged a visit by car out to the mountains for us. Probably one of the best things is the location - just off the main square. We would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay here and the staff were indeed friendly and helpful. The rooms were large and kept very clean with soft sheets and towels. It was amazing how the noise from the square didnt penetrate the Riad at all althought the internal noise was .at times, a bit intrusive as conversations echoed around the courtyard. The Riad arranged our day trip to Setti Fatma and waterfalls and the guide was excellent and we all had a great day . The location of the Riad was perfect for all that Marrakesh has to offer and we walked everywhere. We recommed the sunset at Kosybar and meaks in the square at Chez Chagrini. Also, if you like a drink in the evening take duty free with you as we were offered "beer , wine lady" as if it were a drugs sale. The only minor faul;t was that the breakfast were al carbohydrate based and the one evening meal we ate represented poor value at 25 euros per head and the tagine meat was not cooked enough and was tough.

My husband and I stayed in this riad in the first week of January for the first time (although it was not our first time to Marrakech - a city we love!), and it certainly didn't disappoint. We loved it. You can't beat it for location within the medina. It is only a 4 or 5 minute walk from the main square Jemaa el Fna and even has easy access to taxis (which is a consideration if you want to explore outside the medina). It is a beautiful, traditional riad with a really tranqil feel to it - an oasis within the chaos of the medina itself. Our room was big, with a fabulous bathroom, the food is homecooked and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful - they really helped to make it a relaxing stay.Great terrace aswell! Would definitely consider coming back, although we do like to try different places each time.

A very pretty riad - behind the large Moroccan door lies a true oasis in the old Medina. Double courtyard with pool and tall palms, bird song and a very nice rooftop terrasse with views of the Atlas Mts.
Staff excellent, service also. Had a wonderful Christmas Eve celebratory dinner - table beautifully laid up.
Two minutes walk from the main square with plenty of restaurants to choose from, tho not all served alcohol - the Riad did, however, serve wine. One could also bring in one's own beer etc and leave it in the fridge.
Couldn't praise the staff enough - Mensif and Youssef and the girls were wonderful - and happy - they sang and laughed in the kitchen. Would certainly recommend this riad. Many family parties visited over our 10 day stay.

We started our journay in Maroc in this beautifull Riad in Marrakech. A very nice and familial riad. Nice and friendly staff. The rooms are big enough for two and this riad is a good choice to start your visit in the medina of marrakech because it is in the medina ;-) The breakfast is a typical marocain breakfast.

A bit strange is that the rooms have no keys so it is not possible to close your room, but anyway we felt us secure and we had an pleasent stay.

Primly positioned in strolling distance of the atmospheric square and hustle a bustle like no other of the souk; whose pathways lead into its vibrant depths, enticing you like the open lids of lavishly filled treasure chests. The raid although only a corner away from such frenetic and fascinating activity is a haven nestled in a quite alleyway of the Medina. Coppery orange walls come either side of its entrance marked by a lofty wooden door, which when opened unveils a sanctuary of peace and calm in a modest and beautiful setting.

You will be greeted by the sincere, friendly and hospitable characters of Mounseff or Youseff. From arrival to the moment you leave they will do all they can to look after you and your party – you may, like I was, be filled with a sense of home-from-home. Their rich knowledge, of the area and community will ensure you are able to make the absolute most of your time and will be as much of a gem as the hidden ones you will find and haggle for in the souk.

I couldn’t help but notice the sweet pleasing aroma which hung in the air of my room when I first entered and was told the scent was for “happiness” - indeed that I felt. The Rooms are clean and subtle details and variants in the layout make them unique from the next. In signature of most chambers, is a concession of electric blue stained glass stars, which feature above the doorway, meaning you, will sleep with stars above each night.

After a day wondering the maze of the Medina, being charmed by snakes in the square or searching for leather pouffes, lanterns, spices, besides so much more beyond imagination in the souk; you can, and will be yearning to lull in the cool refreshing waters of the pool to the sounds of soothing jazz music. Or you could climb to the roof terrace, lie out on a lounger and go face-to-face with the brilliant blue back-drop of the sky embodied with its golden sun and allow its warm arms to wrap around your body.

I am certain these elements will go towards forming in you in your mind genuinely fond memories of your stay in Les Bougainvilliers and Marrakech.

I think the staff make this Riad a brilliant place to stay. We were a family of 4 who were plesently suprised by the welcoming atmosphere this Riad offers. Yusseuf and Monsif and fantastic, and their knowledge of the local area and things to do is great. They will tell you where to go, what to see and the expected price you should pay. They even took us to places in their spare time if not too far from the riad (so we would find it easily). Yusseuf is a great chef and he made us a veggie meal as the choices in Marrakesh aren't too great if you don't eat meat.
The Riad is located very close to the main square and an easy walk there. You will encounter a lot of traders trying to see somehtingto you everyday whilst on your walk back to the Riad. Help is easily available for those travelling with large luggage or children, and expect to pay someone around 10-20dh to take you luggage to/from riad to a taxi.
We would and have already recommended the riad to our family and friends, and if we visit Marrakesh again, we will most definately stay here. Thanks guys. Sunita
