“Best booking we've made in years!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2011

This definately beats any 5-star hotel! I'm giving them 5 out of 5 stars on all point, there is just nt 1 bad word I can think of.
The Riad is decorated with such a great sense of style! We spent 2 nights in another Riad, which was also loverly, but by far not as perfect as Riad Dar One.
The staff was very polite and helpfull, showing us all the places to go, booking restaurants, bringing us in contact with shops....we simply loved it!
We heard that the owner is busy with a new Riad and we cannot wait to vusit that one too!

We are very experienced travelers and absolutely cannot say enough wonderful things about Riad Dar One. We are a family of 5 with 3 kids ages 17-22. We stayed 5 nights including Christmas, in two rooms. Jean, the owner took care of everything down to the last detail. He had a taxi waiting for us at the airport (highly recommend that); one of his assistants met us at the taxi and led us through the winding alleys back to the Riad. Jean met us upon our arrival, had pastries and mint tea served to us on the roof terrace, and made us feel very much at home. We always felt completely safe in the Riad even walking back at night through the crooked alleyways. The Riad itself is a lovely oasis of calm.
We had two dinners there - both were served by candlelight and the food was delicious. In the evenings, wine and hors d'oeuvres were served in the living room by the crackling fire. On Christmas Eve, Jean gathered all the guests for champagne and lovely appetizers. In the morning, breakfast is served whenever you're ready. Everyone who works at the Dar One was wonderful and willing to go out of their way to help.
Jean arranged two guides plus drivers for us - Yusef to show us all around Marrakesh and give us a lesson in both culture and history, and Hassan, who took us on a wonderful trek in the High Atlas mountains stopping for lunch at a Berber home.
We recommend Dar One without hesitation.

We have stayed in Riad Dar One on 3 separate occasions, and each time have been treated to the most fantatsic hospitality from Jean and his team. I wanted to pass on my eperiences again and urge any prospective travellers to ignore the single negative comment left. In our experience none of the complaints are relevant or indeed true. We would choose Dar One every time we return to Marrakech and indeed will condiser doing so later this year with a very little baby - something we would never do if we had an ounce of concern over our potential stay. It is a joy to stay there and a joy to experience the wonders Marrakech has to offer.

30 years ago, i was a back packer who never got further than southern Europe, even so nothing could have prepared me for for Marrakech. Without Dar One, I would have come away with a very different view of the city. It's a stylish oasis of calm where nothing is too much trouble...if it all gets too much in the souks, the staff are happy to cook a superb lunch or dinner, arrange out of town trips, or just bring cups of coffee to the roof terrace. Absolutely recommended for anyone visiting Marrakech, can't think of anything that would make it better!

We spent 3 nights at Riad Dar One and enjoyed every second of our time there.

Jean and all of the staff are great and kept smiling even when delivering breakfast and drinks up many steps to the terrace (even late at night!).

We had the terrace room and would recommend paying the extra for this if available.

Thank you Jean and all of your wonderful staff.

We stayed at the Riad Dar One for three nights from 22-25 January, and enjoyed it enormously. The location is extremely convenient, quiet and central at the same time, in a narrow alley (gated and with security) on the edge of the Mellah and just a 2-minute walk to the Bahia Palace and 10 minutes to the Jeema el Fna and the souks. We had the smallest room (Petit Prince), which is cozy and welcoming, with a very comfortable firm bed and an excellent shower. We felt no need to have a larger room, as the common spaces are extremely enjoyable and peaceful, with a beautiful pool in the center of the courtyard and a lovely lounge with fireplace. Jean Peres is an excellent owner and host, always happy to chat and to offer advice and insights. He has beautifully designed and furnished the riad himself, and clearly enjoys welcoming and advising his guests. Breakfast is lovely, with tea, coffee, fresh yogurt, bread, jams, honey, and juice served on demand (no restrictive time limits!), and one can choose where to have it--in the courtyard, the lounge, the roof terrace, or even one's own room. In addition to Jean, Isham and the rest of the staff are just wonderful; they are kind, efficient, and helpful. They gave us very good advice on restaurants, booked us an excellent taxi for an evening outing (Abdel, taxi no. 720; ask for him!!), and provided refreshing mint tea and sweets when we returned home from sightseeing. All in all, a beautiful, characterful, and friendly home in Marrakech. If we are fortunate enough to return to this wonderful city, we won't be staying anywhere else!

The moment we entered Riad Dar One we realized we were somewhere special.
The atmosphere of the Riad is very private, relaxing and charming.
The location is really quiet and interesting although only a couple of minutes from one of the main streets.
Jean, the owner, and all the staff are great.
They are extremely helpful and kind if you need tips about restaurants, shopping or something interesting to see but first of all they create a warmth and ease that make you feel at home.
Breakfast is delicious and you can have it whenever wherever and the dinner experience is not to be missed.
We have great memories of one night we had dinner in the Riad; it was so romantic and food was amazing.
To be recommended to all those who need to relax in a magic athmosphere.
