“Felt like you were in a Five star hotel, but only better!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2010

Believe in all the wonderful reviews of this hotel. Jean and his team are wonderful! My husband and I just spent our 30th wedding anniversary in Marrakech and we did not choose a better place to spend it than at Riad Dar One. The very professional staff were insconspicuous to give you the privacy of the Riad but would appear when you need them. The breakfast, which was complimentary, could be availed of at any time of the day! Our room had all the luxuries and felt like a five star hotel. There were no phones or a tv in our room, but who cares, we were on vacation! And with Jean who was on hand to give you information about tours, recommended places to visit, even making bookings at the spa and in restaurants, you felt like you were in a 5 star hotel, only better! You felt like you were a guest in Jean's house.

If I had a chance to go back to Marrakech, I would stay in Riad Dar One again.

Everything about Dar One is magical. The riad itself is absolutely beautiful, the rooms comfortable, the attention to detail outstanding, and the service incredible. The entire staff was very warm and accommodating... helping us with plans, directions... everything was great. We had never been to Marrakech before (three women traveling together), and Dar One made us want to come back soon!

An amazing Riad, run by fantastic staff. With a cook that provided us with beautiful traditional meals and breakfast- catering to vegetarian needs too! (and they remember how we liked our coffee in the morning!).

The Riad is beautifully decorated and is a joy to experience- drinking sweet green tea in the lounge, or lazing on the terrace enjoying the afternoon sun.

The Owner, Jean has created a place that is relaxing and calming. He was incredibly helpful with explaining what to see and do and how to get around. His beautiful big dogs were also good company!

I would recommend calling the Riad as soon as you arrive in Marrakesh as they will assist you in finding the place and carting your bags. It also means you avoid youths that offer to help, as long as you pay them alot more money than it's worth!

This was my second visit to Dar One. Nothing has changed in nearly two years, but that’s a good thing. Oh, the one difference is that bottled water is now provided.

I highly recommend this Riad if you intend to visit Marrakesh. The owner, Jean, will make sure you are well cared for and that all your sightseeing and dining needs are met.

We loved our stay at Riad Dar One in early November. Having had a cumbersome time getting into Marrakech (curtesy of Royal Air Morocco), we arrived at 3 a.m. Isham (?) had been instrumental in getting us to the Riad safe and sound. The breakfast on the terrace the next morning and the streaming sunshine made up for the trials of the previous day. The Riad is beautifully restored, the colours build an elegant backdrop for the fine details of textiles and floral display. The staff are attentive and friendly, Jean is terribly helpful givng restaurant and shopping recommendation. The breakfast is great, enough to tide you over to lunch (and yummy). We had dinner on the terrace one evening, which again was very special: the food was brilliant, the candles, the sounds and smells of Marrakesh in the evening.... just fab. Location-wise it's fabulously situated, 5 minutes walk from the centre of the Medina. Two palaces just a stone throw away (and well worth seeing), shopportunities a-plenty.

A modern, renovated riad. As the riad is in the medina, you need to walk for 5 minutes from the nearest street cars are allowed. This is normal, and I think it's best to stay near/inside the medina anyway. The walk (literally through a hole in a wall) is nicely juxtaposed by the serene inner courtyard at the riad. It almost feels like you have stepped into a day-spa. Great 'first impression' for a couple - fresh white roses, well appointed rooms etc. Walking to Jemaa el Fna is relatively simple (say 10 mins) through a long (what appears to be reasonably safe) alleyway. Staff are professional and helpful. This was better than another, slightly more central riad we stayed at, as it was very well 'put together' and professionally run, and the common area is particularly relaxing. I would stay here again as a non-traditional option.

Riad Dar One is a very stylish - modern interpretation of Marrocan Design with a lot of attention to detail. It is perfectly situated in the Medina a short walk from all the major sights (near Palais Bahia). Also 2 very good restaurants (Tanjia and Kosybar) are just around the corner. Yet it is completely quiet - an oasis after the day of sightseeing.
Staff is very welcoming and friendly and very helpful - including getting the car parked and get your stuff to the house.
We would definitely go back and recommed it to all our friends who want to visit Marrakech!
