“Beautiful Riad in Marrakech”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

Riad Dar One is a treasure. Its the perfect way to experience Marrakech and Morocco.

The decor is very soothing and our room was a good size. The riad is totally unexpected from the outside. Its pretty much just a simple door after a few narrow walkways. This only adds to the charm of the riad and the city.

Stay at Riad Dar One!

My partner and I stayed in DAR One in Sept (Mid season) first for 3 nights & then went on a 3 night 4 day excursion, which included a camel trek with Authentic Morocco (would not recommend). We came back to DAR One for the last 3 nights. Total cost which we decided to use our credit card and pay the additional 4% charge (wanted the mileage points!) came to 1,015 US dollars. A bit pricey, but worth the expense…here’s why

First timers to Marakech, needed a safe, clean and ideally located place to stay. Cleanliness of riad and rooms as you can see from the pics. There was a pleasant smell though out the riad & rooms which you can actually purchase in the souks. Small scented blocks that start are very fragrant but don’t last long. The two rooms we stayed in were the Mirage & Saint Ex. I preferred the Saint Ex. since it had better natural light, better storage shelves for clothes, gifts etc. Although the shower only bathroom was ok I preferred the bath tub in the Mirage. Both rooms had very good wi fi internet access, surprisingly comfortable beds with great pillows.

Location, tucked away in a narrow alley you first think where in the heck is this place??? There was always someone there, either the older gentleman with we think with his wife or one of the younger staff. So we felt very safe. It’s a 15-20 min walk to Jemaa el Fna.

The staff was exceptional which I believe what helps to make a great place. Breakfast was good, delicious coffee, yogurt with preserves and various types of bread throughout stay. We had requested omelets which were ok, probably not use to a westerner’s food request.

Jean Peres made our stay very pleasant and we thanked him for letting store our luggage while we trekked out to the Shara dessert. I would recommend this place for first timers to Marrakech and 3 days is all you need to see and do everything in the medina. See my other recommendations on Things to Do

I am a regular visitor to Marrakech and always try different Riad in every visit. I love the design concept of Riad Dar One, Jean the owner welcoming us on our our arrival, his whole team is very helpful and friendly. Jean recommendation of restaurants is great. We were there during Christmas 2011, we had a lovely Christmas dinner. The Riad is well designed, clean and most importantly for me is the service which is excellent. Jean took us to his other Riad (Dar White) which is well designed too but very different style to Dar One. We truly love our stay at Dar One. Thank you Jean and the whole team! ;-)

This stylish riad is located next to the Bahia Palace, a great landmark for when you get lost in the Medina. We were welcomed by Jean ,the owner, who gave us an insight in to what we might expect in Marrakech, and answered our many questions. He introduced us to his team who were all so helpful and attentive to our needs throughout our stay. Delicious breakfast on the terrace, with its stunning views, when you wanted it, a glass of wine last thing at night etc - nothing too much trouble. Our room was located on the terrace level;stylish, with fresh flowers and crisp bed linen.
We had decided that we would like a guide for the following morning after we arrived, and Jean arranged this for us. We found this very worthwhile; the guide was extremely knowledgeable, and we managed to see a huge amount of the sights within the four hours we spent with him, which we may have missed under our own steam.
Jean appeared on our last day to say 'Goodbye' and wish us well, and ensured we had not only the riad's 'phone number, but his personal mobile number in case we needed any assistance when we travelled to the Palmeraie, for the next part of our holiday!!!
Thank you for making our visit so comfortable and enjoyable.

For us it was the perfect location at this amazing place. We spent here 2 nights. Inside the Riad everytimes when we were returning back from the busy Medina of Marrakesch it was like an escape, "like a squirel that reaches it's cockpit". Very close to the Souk aprox 10-12min. max.
The rooms are decorated and you always feel you stay here as an emperor and treated by the staff as one. Thank's to the amazing team of the Riad especially to the reception boys that made our stay even nicer. Thank to Untravelled Paths the company that made possible our stay here and for finding this fascinating place, it's alwasy a pleasure to travel with this guys. We do not found anything bad about this place. We can only say THANK YOU FOR BEEING LIKE THAT AND PLEASE BE LIKE THIS! FOR ALWAYS!!!

On our first trip to Marrakeck, we literally couldn't have picked a better place to stay. Located in the medina, about a minute walk from the Palais Bahia, Riad Dar One is a sanctuary in the madness of the city.

We stayed in the small (but perfectly formed) Petit Prince room. It was beautiful. Great powerful, spacious shower and a really comfy bed. The Riad had a stunning roof terrace where they serve breakfast. Breakfast was, of course, delicious. Breads, pancakes, cake etc - with fresh honey, yoghurt etc and orange juice and coffee. Perfect!

What really sets this Riad aside from others is the phenomenal customer service. The evening we arrived, the owner (Jean), had waited to welcome us - a really nice touch. He gave us great insight into what we could get up to during our stay and showed us how to get to our friends villa. Upon hearing we were late (as our flight had landed late), Jean offered to drive us to their villa in his own car on his way home. Never in all my years travelling has someone made such a kind gesture! JUst fantastic service! It didn't stop of Jean, both guys who were around when Jean was away were just fantastic. One morning they made us breakfast at 5am as we had booked to go on a hot air balloon ride - again going above and beyond what I would expect of any small riad.

I cannot express how thrilled I am with this place. I certainly loved the city and will be coming back to the Riad Dar One when the time comes to explore it again.

Thank you for such a FANTASTIC stay.

Room Tip: All seemed equally beautiful!

As soon as we arrived we could see why this Riad was ranked so highly. Very stylish decor, so well finished, the place just exuded quality. Fresh flowers in the room, lovely breakfast (that you could have anytime you wanted - a nice touch) and a really comfortable bed - great pillows. Sometimes hotels that are so stylish can lack warmth and be un welcoming but not this one, we felt extremely comfortable and the welcome was very warm with someone always on hand to help and guide you. You could have drinks served to you and dinner available if you ordered at breakfast time. We had a late flight and as our room was not going to be occupied that evening they suggested, without us having to ask, that we keep it until we left a 5pm, an example of great service. We had such a relaxing stay here - thank you.
