“Super cool boutique Riad with perfect hosts tucked away in the Southern Medina”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2012 via mobile

This place is tucked away down a few winding alleyways between the Southern Medina and the Kasbah. Jean is the perfect host, greeting you personally, making you feel at home and providin excellent recommendations. Location is perfect, far enough away from the madness of the souks but just a 10 min walk away from the main square. The place is very well designed indeed (old Riad done out like a modern boutique design hotel from Paris). Breakfast (freshly squeezes juice, yogurt, breads/pancakes/jams) can be taken anywhere, anytime... Which is a massive bonus. Throw in great security, two friendy dogs and great management and you have the perfect spot for a chilled, cool Marrakech break. Enjoy!

The whole operation of this riad is so stylish and chic from decor to service to staff. Every time you approach the raid, the door opens for you by a staff member and then voila - you enter into an incense-filled paradise just a few steps from the Bahia Place (read: excellent location!).

The common space is so well appointed with a blend of modern meets Marrakech, which is such a nice departure from the traditional-looking riads with cheesy Moroccan decor. Dar One is certainly not that! Everything from the terrace to the fireplace to the cosy living room is so well done.

Then there's the outstanding service. Any meal you have in the riad, Jean's staff will take time to set your table with such precision. And speaking of meals, it was so nice that each morning was a slightly different breakfast!

Finally, the rooms are great! The bed comfortable, the decor is fantastic, and the shower was wonderful (best shower that we had in Morocco...and we stayed at equivalent places throughout the country).

We stayed here for 2 nights, in petite prince - which we were told was the smallest (and cheapest) room. It was absolutely gorgeous, and not small at all by uk hotel standards. The decor was sumptuous, the bed comfy, the shutters on the windows meant the room was pitch black at night - so you could sleep for as long as you wanted (helped by the fact there is no set time for breakfast, and you can order it wherever you want, when you get up). We had breakfast on the terrace one morning, which was lovely. The terrace is beautiful, which large comfy loungers / beds, tables, chairs and plants.

Jean, the owner is incredibly welcoming and helpful, as are his staff.

We enjoyed having a drink by the fire in the evening, and mint tea in the courtyard in the afternoon.

We would definately recommend this riad to our friends and family, and hope to return again one day soon.

We chose this Riad after reading all the positive comments left by other travelers and we found them all to be totally accurate and true.
The Riad is quite like the pictures on the websites but even more lovely. Very tastefully done by the owner (Jean Peres who was very helpful right from the start). Very quiet and private - made us want to whisper! The rooms were very well done and we took so many pictures because the riad really was so beautiful.
It is small so gives a nice private B&B feel.
It is located very close to Bahia Palace which is a very famous landmark. But the flip side is that you then have to walk with your luggage through a few alleyways before you get to the riad. Someone from the riad will always be there to assist you but just a minor inconvenience that you cannot drive all the way up to the riad.
Because it was located deep inside an alleyway it was very quiet and peaceful and it was nice to come back to after the chaos and craziness of the Medina and Jemaa El Fna
The terrace was LOVELY - enjoyed a glass of wine there with my husband. Very romantic!
We were given a good breakfast everyday. Very good value for money.
Charming charming place!
(Note - not recommended if traveling with kids but highly recommended as a romantic peaceful haven)

This was an amazing find! Located right next to the Bahia Palace (so easy for taxi's to be directed to), it was an excellent location to explore the city. Just a few minutes walk from the Souk and the main tourist sites, yet was very quiet and relaxed once inside. This is one of the best places we've stayed. The Riad was beautiful and modern, from the sun drenched roof top terrace (yes even in the middle of winter) which had awesome sun beds, to the beautiful rooms with fluffy towels and matching bathrobes. This was truly a fantastic find that I can't recommend highly enough. The staff were extremely friendly, even coming out to meet us at the taxi when we arrived to take our bags in. It was like staying 5* boutique hotel.

Not much to add here, as we found all the positive comments here to be completely accurate. Loved our stay and will return.

Room Tip: We stayed in a couple of rooms, and "Dune" was our favorite for it's size and bathroom...
