“Beyond excellency”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2014

My mother and I stayed here to celebrate my birthday back in late February/early March. I could not recommend this place more.

Hannah, Noel, Aredwan and Julia were all wonderful and very accommodating staff, all you have to do it ask and they will do their best. A MUST HAVE, dinner in the raid and ask to be in the chimney room, it is a wonderful experience (the staff even arrange for a take out in there when we got a little peckish in the later hours), also try the Moroccan red wine they serve. Then breakfast on the roof, where there was enough food for the rest of the family and the Moroccan coffee was too good to have just one cup!

Furthermore, Kerstin the general manager obliged to all our needs, even outside the riad, when we made a trip into the mountains (recommend using their car service, it is worth it) and had a spa day at the La Mamounia (which was also lovely, so relaxing!!). When we asked for recommendation about where to eat ect, we could not be more happy with the outcomes, once again very accommodating to our needs!

The location is perfect, just under five minuets from the square, although you can barely hear the hustle and bustle that comes from it. Rooms are kept clean and tidy and you can sleep safely at night. The Riad itself is beautiful, full of traditional decoration!

Dar Fakir definitely made our trip so special and you could not find a better riad in Morocco let alone Marrakech if you tried!!! I think we have agreed to try and make this an annual thing!!!

THANK YOU!

Kristen, the owner was very helpful, as well as the rest of the staff. We were pleased with the rooms, they were clean and the A/C was cool enough. Great location, only 5 minutes walking from the square and souks. Quiet and great breakfast in the mornings.

Room Tip: suites are the best, much bigger bathrooms and rooms

I was really looking forward to spending a few days at this "genuine" Morrocan experience, however I feel let down.

I assumed that for the price I paid, I would get quality, however the room was dirty, the sink was full of insects and plugged up and there was no proper lighting in the room whatsoever.

The room did not have an iron or a hair dryer (although we were told on our last day that there were two in the whole Riad).

Loud music was played throughout the day which meant that any chance of a mid afternoon nap was out of the question.

The "director" was rude and full of herself. Not very helpful in the slightest and tried to push us to eat and restaurants she clearly had an interest in.

The service staff were friendly and I have no complaints about them - shame about the management.

I would suggest staying away from this place.

Thank you for your feedback about Dar Fakir, I see that you might not have been satisfied with your stay with the points noted however none of this was brought to my attention during your stay. It is a little odd that you were not aware of the hair dryer or iron given that every room has a "Welcome & Information pack" in the rooms providing information about exactly such things as hair dryers, iron, breakfast hours, dining facilities, excursions.... Of course it is a little surprising to us that you would not ask for something until your last day. We have staff covering all aspects of the riad so you would easily have been able to request things from house keeping, service staff or the waiter. I am not clear why you wouldn't have done this during your stay?
It is correct that we play music through out the day in the riad. Again just a simple request to turn the music down would have been enough. We did this just last week with a guest that enjoyed afternoon naps.
We do not recommend restaurants because we have an interest in them, we recommend restaurants because they are good and match our guests dining interest (20 are recommended in the welcome pack. You might have over-looked this too) . Within our group the, FAKIR Collection, there are 3 restaurants so of course we do recommend these too as we take pride in our establishments and they simply are great restaurants!

I booked this Riad exclusive hire to celebrate my birthday - inviting my friends for a five night stay.

Dar Fakir has THE BEST location for any type of visit to Marrakesh; no matter if you are 1st timers, party people, or have sightseeing and culture interest, want to maximize your shopping spears and visit all the best restaurants and nightclubs. Dar Fakir is within super easy reach to it all and they leo offer a really reliable car service with close dropp off and pick up even if you stay right in the Medina.

Dar Fakir har THE BEST service and NICEST people/staff you could ever wish for. Every one of them gave us so much care and attention through out or stay - they really made sure we had everything we needed and wanted at all times. They booked excursions, guides, transfers and restaurants and nightclubs for us and no matter how many time we rearranged our program they sorted it out for us and fixed ad-hoc solutions in the most brilliant way. They served us lovely and magnificent breakfast on the stunning roof terrace were we also enjoyed many hours in the sun drinking coffee and tea as well as champagne and wine. No matter what we asked for or what time of day or night we were up - so where they and with a smile and service willingness out of this world.

Their chef is excellent - not only did she make amazingly good cakes and breakfast omelets but she also cooked outstanding three course dinners for us that we truly enjoyed in Dar Fakir ambient and beautiful setting.

Dar Fakir has THE BEST atmosphere and decor - its simply so stunning, warm and welcoming. We all felt that it was like living in this magic hide away place in the world.

This was THE PERFECT place to rent exclusive - I could not be more happy about my choice. This was a treat for all of us and my guest could not praise the people, the service and the location and look and feel of Dar Fakir enough.

There are only two things one should be aware of when checking into a riad in the middle of the Medina - you cannot expect the shower/bathroom standards to be like in a modern hotel. Some rooms had low water pressure in the showers. Also the traditional and beautiful decor of the rooms do not provide to much light - so the rooms can come across as a little dark when trying to put on makeup or find a misplaced clothing item :) No big deals just put your expectations at the right level - if you want modern big hotel chain standard to not choose this beautiful, traditional, extraordinary, well situated Riad Dar Fakir with the BEST SERVICE and BEST STAFF in Marrakesh!

The General Manager is a German girl which is super nice and helpful, as is the rest of the entire staff! Always eager to make one feel cozy and at home and always offering a great smile along with their service! Location is very good, too!

We stayed bacak in Oct 2013 but was too lazy to write a review til now (oops :D). The riad was excellent, so close to the square. On our arrival, we had a welcome tea and the lady gave us a map and talked us through all the main attractions. The room is nice and the bed is comfortable. The breakfast was really good too since they gave us many options. What we like most is the staff. They were so polite and helpful, especially the guy who served us breakfast every morning. Thank you and we'd love to be back.

This was my first trip to Morocco and I have truly fallen in love with the culture. I especially enjoyed my stay at Dar Fakir as it made the experience even more special... and I would love the opportunity to return.

The location is superb as it's only a 5 min walk to the main square. So, there is plenty to explore on your doorstep which is ideal especially for a short stay.

The riad is breathtakingly beautiful from the first moment you step in. It's a treat for all your senses with the exquisite aromas from the reed diffusers and burning candles, to the soft music playing in the background through to the sight of the open court yard with the pool.

The rooms are super clean and quite frankly stunning! The beds are enormous and extremely comfortable. I would really enjoy to wake up the sound of the little birds singing that came to the open court yard every morning.

The service is impeccable and the staff are so friendly, professional and helpful if you need advice.

We only had breakfasts here and they resembled a banquet, filling the table with a variety of croissants, cake, yoghurt, baguettes, pancakes and more! Unfortunately, I'm gluten intolerant so I'd always opt for the omelet with Moroccan cheese. It has to be the most delicious omelet I've ever had, (thank you Ridwan).
We could have our breakfast laid out anywhere we chose within the riad, and quite often we would chose to sit by the grand fire place, but on our last day as it was warm and sunny we decided to sit on the roof top terrace overlooking the Atlas Mountains in the distance. It was the perfect way to spend our last morning in Marrakech.
