Me and my wife stayed for 6 nights in bedroom 1. We were picked up by a minibus from the airport. This was pre-arranged by email with the Riad. It's only a 15 min journey and it cost us approx £12 each way. If we were to visit again, I would probably opt for a petite taxi (yellow taxi) and I wouldn't pay more then £8. This is around the standard fare. I had to carry the luggage into the taxi myself and the driver was 20 mins late.
We were greeted with mint tea inside the Riad by Hassan, who, we believed to be the best and most genuine member of staff in the Riad. The tea was the perfect remedy for the early morning flight and the arrival. We enjoyed the surroundings we were greeted with and my wife loved the ceramic pots and plants inside the Riad. Bedroom 1 was in our opinion the best room in the Riad. We did manage to see most of the rooms in the Riad. With the exception of one couple, who were there for 1 night, we pretty much had the place to ourselves, which was a real bonus!
Overall, we did enjoy our stay. However, we later came to realise that there was a bad vibe amongst the staff. This was due to the general manager by the name of "Sanaa". She arrived during the middle of our stay and we certainly sensed a change to the atmosphere. We felt she was quite dominieering. Quite strangely, she would stay inside the Riad and use the rooms which were meant for guests. She would also invite her friends over in the evening. This would cause an uneccessary demand on staff, who were there for assissting guests! Not for running errands such as food for friends of the manager!
Anyway, we did complain to the owners about this and the general manager did not stay the night for our final night. Not surprisingly, the vibe in the Riad improved. We all had dinner together in the Riad for our final night and it was a fitting end. As much as we liked our room, we did not feel it was worth the normal rate (we did get a discount to the normal room rate as it was during the quiet season). I did suggest some minor improvements to the room which the owners informed me after my stay that they had made. (poor lighting, large rug needed a good clean and the main lock for bedroom 1 was almost hanging off). Overall, a pleasant stay, nice location, and Hasan made that difference. It's a shame about the bad vibe created by the manager, however, this did not overshadow our overall experience. The owners, Daniel and Richard were very responsive to my emails during and after our stay. We thought this was encouraging.
I hope you found this review useful and please feedback on my comments if you have stayed in the Riad.
