“Quiet place near noisy Ja'ama chaos”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

Only a stone's throw from the noisy, thumping, throbbing Jaama el Fna, Riad Assia is a modest and quiet hotel on the narrow but quiet Calle de la Recette. I've stayed here with students three times and always enjoyed the cheerful and caring staff, daytime and night. Breakfast on the rooftop garden and tent is served by bustling, hardworking ladies who laugh and intend to send you out for the day with a delicious-nutrious "fitur" . Ask the manager to elaborate on his concept of Berber hospitality and simple but honest service to visitors and you will understand why people return to this friendly place. You can change all kinds of currencies at the registration desk at good rates. Neat place to meet adventurous travelers from all over the globe.

Room Tip: Second and third floor rooms, more distant from the registration desk, are even more quiet.

This hotel is located on a small side street, very close to Jamaa El Fna and a short walk to Koutoubia Mosque, the Bahia Palace and markets.

The room was simple and clean with private bathroom. Breakfast is served on the roof top and is good.

The staff at the front desk were friendly, cheerful and helpful.

The only difficulty was that it was a bit hard to fine. The turn off from the market is camouflaged by all the shops and stalls so we walked right past it a few times, although once we got there the location was very good.

I would recommend this hotel for budget travellers who want somewhere cheap and cheerful and close to attractions.

Cheerful Riad in a great location 5 mins from Jem'a el fna. First stayed here when it had just opened and have stayed several times since. Basic accommodation, wifi, good breakfast and friendly staff. Staff will look after bags and book coach tickets etc in advance saving the trek to and from supratours. Definitely recommend as a good base from which to explore marrakech.

We have stayed at the Hotel Assia on many occasions over the years as it is a comfortable and inexpensive place to stay in the heart of Marrakech. It`s convenient location is just a few minutes walk to Place Jamaa el Fna and the Souk. The rooms are always clean and comfortable with en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning and a T.V. The multi-lingual staff are extremely friendly and accommodating, and are always ready to help. The hotel is a classical type Riad with an open-roofed courtyard and the rooftop area is a lovely setting to enjoy a breakfast with a variety of fresh food and drinks available. We highly recommend this hotel!

We stayed 2 nights in Hotel Assia, the hotel is very neat, well located, the breakfast in the terrace is very nice, the staff is very friendly too, but all the rooms face a patio (something very common in morocco) and if you get noise guests then it's a bit hard to have a quite sleep. Don't forget your earplugs, but that's a tip for pretty much any riad in Morocco, it's not hotel Assia´s fault, but the architecture in general there.

Stayed here a few times now with friends. The staff are always very friendly and keen to help. The rooms are basic and comfortable and the hot water has always been hot! The recent addition of free wifi is really handy too. Breakfast included on the lovely roof terrace. Excellent location for Marrakech too.

Stayed as a group of 9 in May 2012. Excellent value, breakfast included, 10 mins max from Djemaa-el-Fna. Able to leave bags in basement room

Quite noisy if you have a room on the alley side

Room Tip: Try and get one away from the alley as alley is quite noisy
