“A cosseting oasis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

I'm rejuvenating in The Atlas Mountains after a 2 day break in Marrakech - we were very fortunate to have stayed in this Riad (chosen on basis of good reviews on TA).
The other reviews say it all so I'll keep this short!
Hosts, location, rooms, dinner, breakfast were all excellent & made our first trip to this exotic city much more relaxing than expected - a great start to our Moroccan adventure!

I can't say how much my wife and I enjoyed staying at the Riad le Clos Arts.

Throughout our stay at the Riad, Georgina and the staff looked after us very well indeed. When we arrived, Georgina talked us through the city, where to go and when, what to see in the daytime, what to avoid at nighttime, and so on. Whenever we wanted anything, it was there, with a smile and no fuss.

The Riad itself is delightful, a wonderful mix of traditional hand-crafted wood and bold approaches to colour and pattern. It managed to be both beautiful and comfortable at the same time. Our room was large, lovely and was kept completely clean the entire time we were there, with fresh bed linen, towels, shampoo etc.

Our stay was arranged as part of a group and we got to enjoy a private banquet and belly-dance! Amazing! The meals in the Riad were out of this world...the salads fresh, exploding with flavour...the tagines and couscous fragrant and tender...even breakfast each day was an exotic treat.

It was our first time in Marrakech and the we found the city quite seductive - lots to see and do, wonderful smells and sights, and the feeling of being somewhere that was both entirely alien but at the same time very welcoming. I had always imagined that we would get hassled in the Souks, but actually the experience was manageable and enjoyable - I didn't have any sense of overly aggressive selling...most people were friendly and pretty relaxed - although it is good to go out at a time of the day when the Medina is a little less crowded.

One word of advice - our taxis to and from the airport were arranged through Georgina at the Riad, as part of the stay, and this really took the anxiety out of arrival and departure. This really is the way to go!

Thanks Georgina and your lovely staff for everything...we can't wait to come back!

We recently returned from a fabulous five day stay at Riad Clos des Arts. A group of us booked the whole Riad for a birthday celebration and reunion of old friends. It was absolutely perfect! We are only now just coming back down to earth after a fantastic time.

Myself and my husband first stayed at Riad le Clos des Arts last year. The owners, Giorgina and Massimo are a winning combination. Their genuine warmth, hospitality, impeccable taste, attention to detail and flawless management are what makes it such a special place. You can tell they love what they do, love Marrakech and enjoy helping people to relax and enjoy their stay. The happy team of people who work with them are equally professional, courteous and friendly. The service is attentive and friendly, but never intrusive.

The Riad has a great location, only ten minutes away from the main square (Djemaa El-Fna) and the souks, but tucked away in a quieter residential street so you can retreat from the hubbub and enjoy the surprising tranquility.

Riad Clos des Arts is beautifully decorated with Moroccan furniture and fittings. Each room is different and the whole place even smells divine, thanks to the scents of Jasmine oil that gently infuse the Riad. The room rates vary according to size, but even the smaller rooms are generously proportioned with plenty of storage and en-suite bathrooms.

The highlight of our stay was a dinner party that we planned with Giorgina and Massimo. They gave us menu and entertainment options. All we had to do was choose and then the rest was taken care of by them. Punch and canapés on the roof terrace started off a wonderful evening. Moroccan classical musicians and a belly dancer provided the entertainment. An incredible four course meal was served to us in the beautifully decorated courtyard. The food at the Riad was by far the best that we have eaten in Marrakech.

I am being effusive, because it really is that good. This is the perfect haven from which to explore Marrakech.

Giorgina and Massimo are the most hospitable couple who made our stay in Marrakech very memorable. Their staff are all lovely. The Riad is beautiful - a peaceful oasis only a short stroll from the main square and markets. Read the reviews - it's all true. On leaving you feel like your leaving friends behind - go on treat youself...

We enjoyed all of our October trip to Morocco, and the Riad le Clos des Arts was the best lodging of all. Not only was this riad beautiful--with its symmetrical arrangement around a blue tiled fountain in the middle--but its hosts, Giorgina and Massimo, made our trip memorable. They spent an hour with us on our arrival, giving directions, advice and telling things to do in Marrakesh. One or the other was always around to indulge in friendly conversations and, really, to help us have fun. The food was great! Every morning we had a hearty breakfast with home-made breads, jams, yogurt, fruit, fresh orange juice and eggs. Dinners on the roof were awesome. There was also a pool on the roof terrace for a refreshing dip, as well as lounge chairs both in and out of the sun. As a final surprise, they gave me a pair of Moroccan leather slippers for my birthday!

Room Tip: Our room, the "Turquoise Room", was the most beautiful

It was the first time in Morocco for my husband and I and a little overwhelming to say the least when we arrived. However after taking a transfer from the airport which was organised for us (an absolute must for first timers!) we were met at the parking lot entrance by Adrianna who led us on a short walk to the most beautiful riad..an oasis from the hustle and bustle of the markets. Georgina the owner sat us down with a cup of mint tea and spent a great deal of time making us at ease and explaining the city and sights. It is a great location for exploring the souks and a 2 minute walk to the Jemaa el fna. Georgina and Massimo also organised for us prior to our arrival a 1/2 day tour with Abdul, a 1 day trip over the Atlas mountains with Mohammad and a hamman spa which I thoroughly recommend. We were also spoilt with beautiful meals each night and cannot praise the hospitality and friendliness of all the staff. This is a wonderful place to stay..

My wife and I visited at the end of August 2013 and stayed 4 nights. We couldn't have asked for a better hotel in Marrakech.

I would 100% recommend getting the airport transfer service from the Riad - it wasn't terribly expensive, and regardless, it was the best money we spent. The streets of Marrakech have VERY few signs on them, and the last thing you want to have to do is haggle with a cab or deal with a packed bus with your luggage and find your way by yourself. A driver will meet you at the airport (although, ours was late), and drive you in a clean and comfortable van to a small little square just off the main city square. There, Massimo (one of the hotel owners) will meet you and help you bring your luggage to the Riad.

After you arrive, Massimo will give you a map and a lay of the land. This information was invaluable - I suggest you not rush through it. He has great advice about where to go (and not go), how to act, how to shop, what to do, and other very good practical advice.

We arrived at night so we decided to have dinner at the Riad, which was honestly the best place meal we had the entire trip (until we had dinner again at the Riad on the last night, which was the best meal we had the entire trip). I would definitely suggest eating there at least one night. If you want to eat out, Giorgina and Massimo can provide recommendations (or you can consult your own guidebook, either way) - their recommendations were also very good.

We stayed on the second level in the Turquoise Room, which was clean, spacious, and gorgeous. No complaints at all. The second level is probably preferable since the first level also serves as office and "lobby" space and may have slightly less privacy (although, all the rooms have wooden doors for privacy purposes).

The rooftop was cute and quiet (which was amazing given how close you are to the hustle and bustle of the main square). Pretty much every day, after a day trip or just a long day of walking through the city, my wife and I would return to the Riad and take a swim in the pool on the roof - so unbelievably refreshing and private.

One last comment - the staff was superb. Massimo and Giorgina (the owners) really are the nicest and most helpful people. At the end of the trip, my wife commented that she felt like they were our new close friends. They've led such interesting lives and are a real joy to speak with and get to know. Furthermore, they've hired an AMAZING staff. I couldn't say enough good things about the Riad's staff. They were always available to help with smiles on their faces (goes to show you how well they are treated by Giorgina and Massimo). The cook, as I mentioned above, was amazing, and the other members of the staff were just fantastic.

I could probably go on and on about how great this Riad is, but I'll go ahead and stop now. I highly recommend staying at Riad le Clos des Arts, and with the value it provides, it's really a no brainer.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Turquoise Room, which is on the second level away from the main "lobby" a...
