“Oasis amid Chaos”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

Riad Due is truly an oasis amid the chaos, noise, and excitement of the Medina and souks. The staff is extremely helpful. They helped guide us through the medina, make reservations, and made a breakfast that ranks as one our highlights for the entire visit.

The rooms (4) were all well decorated and comfortable. We had one of the bigger rooms and it was spectacular.

The location is superb if you want to be in the middle of the Medina. It is on the northern edge of the souks and a quick walk to great spots like Terasse de Espices (2 mins). The main square is a 8-10 minute walk through winding pathways.

Since there is a "sister" Riad (Riad 72) a short walk away, you can use their spa (highly recommended) for a hammam and massage.

We highly recommend Riad Due.

“Second to None”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

We stayed for two nights at Riad Due, booked through Mr and Mrs Smith. The airport transfer, arranged by the Riad was very smooth. The cab was met by Rashid who took us through the Medina to the Riad. The Riad itself is stunning, it is visually very tasteful, the rooms are gorgeous. We stayed in the smallest/cheapest room. It was more than adequate. There was a wood fire in the room, already laid and ready to be lit (although the weather was great, temperature drops in the evening) - I would recommend January as a great time to go; cheap, not too hot or crowded, with the added bonus of a bit of winter sun on our bones).

We were met by Touria, who looked after us through out our stay and was brilliant. There whenever we needed anything, not pushing tours, trips or restaurants, very attentive but not in anyway overbearing. Shortly after arriving we were introduced to Rhislane, who manages all of the Uovo riads and is normally based at Riad 72. Rhislane was also excellent. He rang to speak to us at breakfast every morning to check how things were going, very informative and personable, pleasant and helpful. All our requests were met and then some. We were also helped by Khalid - anytime we needed directions or guiding. We have stayed in many upmarket hotels - the service at Riad Due was the best I have experienced.
We had a meal cooked on the first night - traditional Moroccan, very palatable. The meal was served in the courtyard, Rashid lit the fire. It was lovely. Breakfasts also fabulous, we had ours served in the courtyard, but it can be served in the room.
Other areas to relax and enjoy included a chill out room (with air conditioning for the summer months) and lovely roof terrace.
We also booked a hammam, based at Riad 72. Khalid escorted us there again - Riad was gorgeous (although I did prefer Riad Due) and hammam and massage excellent.
I cannot praise the staff highly enough. I would strongly recommend this Riad as a great base for exploring Marrakesh, providing an oasis of peace and calm, great service, great accommodation, great location. Rhislane, Touria, Rashid and Khalid - thank you very much. Like Arny.. I'll be back.

Room Tip: Depends on budget, but we did have a peek at the big suite - it looked lovely. Was more than happy...

“at home in the heart of the medina. truly a hidden gem.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012

my eight-year-old daughter and i booked into this riad for 5 nights in late november 2012. at each step of the way--from communications responding to requests for information to booking to arrival to departure--we were greeted with helpful, friendly and kind treatment.

emanuela, the manager of all three of the uovo riads in marrakech, was very well spoken in both french and english (neither of which is her native tongue) and was extremely helpful in the booking process. she also stopped by the riad when we were there to introduce herself, and we were welcomed by her and her staff at one of their other riads during our stay so we could take a tour and have a lovely afternoon tea.

the staff at riad due--rhizlane, khalid, rashid, habib and the lovely women who cared for us with the kitchen and housekeeping services--were attentive, kind, warm and generous. they truly made us feel like we were at home in marrakech, and this was no small feat for my daughter who was quite homesick at first. we were treated to guidance throughout the city when we asked for it and to recommendations for touring and eating, and we enjoyed many lovely moments in conversation with each of them. at once, they were always professional and responsive. we felt very comfortable, safe and well attended to.

we enjoyed our beautiful room (the suite abdel) with its gorgeous appointments including a demi-swimming pool for a bathtub and an enormous walk-in closet beyond the abundant seating and sleeping area and generous bathroom area. we saw each of the other suites as well and had a hard time deciding which was the most beautiful. in the end, we decided they were all spectacular. if we could have stayed longer, we would have tried staying in each of them!

the rooftop was our chosen morning location where i did yoga and my daughter relaxed on the gorgeous lounge furnishings and watched movies on the laptop. although the wifi is spotty in the riad, i ascribe that more to marrakech than to the riad itself. i am a bit ashamed that i needed it at all since the riad was such a welcome respite from all things quotidian in my normal life.

the food was outstanding on all levels. the breakfasts were ample and fit for a queen (and a princess), replete with local delicacies and even some european touches. the staff always seemed to know when we were rising and got breakfast ready to serve just as we were emerging from our suite. even on the morning of our departure when we had to leave quite early for the airport, breakfast was served beautifully and timely. dinners were equally enchanting and were easy to arrange with a little advance notice. we had arranged for a light dinner to be waiting for us on the evening of our arrival, and we were welcomed with the mostly sumptuous meal of carrot and orange bell pepper soup and a traditional tagine with chicken and olives. my only caveat with à la carte meals is that they are a bit pricey by my standards, but they are, admittedly, well worth the cost. on the other evenings when we had dinner at the riad, we were able to make some specific requests that the staff was, as usual, happy to oblige us.

riad due offers a sumptuous environment complemented by an attentive, professional and kind staff. i recommend it highly.

Room Tip: you can't go wrong in any of these rooms. each offers its own delectable mixture of moroccan a...

“Lovely experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

This was the second riad we stayed at when we went to Marrakech. Khalid, one of the helpers in riad, was kind enough to pick us up from the previous riad at which we were staying. The room we stayed in (for two people) was spacious and the bathrooms/shower was bigger than the first riad we stayed at. The location of this riad is very convenient, just next to the main thoroughfare of the northern part of the medina, yet close enough to the area accessible by taxis. Despite the proximity to the medina, it is an oasis of tranquility once you step in. It is also further away from the mosques, so our sleep was not interrupted by the early morning prayers. The kitchen in this riad was substantially bigger and hence the variety and quality of the breakfasts provided was also better. The staff were also kind enough to wake up earlier than normal to cook breakfast for us on the day of our departure. The riad also has a lovely rooftop terrace to hang out in the late afternoons before sunset. Overall, an enjoyable stay in this Riad!

“Mixed experience -- cannot recommend”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012

We stayed at Riad Due from September 1-5. While the decor is gorgeous and the staff friendly, the overall experience was disappointing. The biggest issue was that we had no hot water -- which made the big, beautiful tub that caused us to spring for our suite fairly useless. I told the staff the first day and was assured the problem was fixed. It was not and I emailed the manager (Emanuela) who NEVER RESPONDED. We were without hot water for the full length of the visit.
Also, we were interested in the pool which was more decorative than useful (very small).
