“Perfect choice in Marrakech!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

Noel and Fabrice were very nice hosts. We felt extremely well in this Riad and enjoyed the stay a lot. The location could not be better: Less than 5 min from the square but nonetheless very silent. The roof-top terrace is very nice and perfect for relaxing in the hot afternoon hours. The room we stayed in was spacious and very well equipped. RECOMMENDED TO THE FULLEST.

Whether El Arsa is the best riad in Marrakech we cannot say, as we have stayed in only one. But for us it will be very simple when we come back to Marrakech, Villa El Arsa is top of the bill! This riad is run by two Frenchmen, Noël and Fabrice, and their equipe, Simo and Malika. They offer excellent hospitality: showing you around the city when you arrive, providing room service day and night, arranging excursions and they even do your laundry. Breakfast is served each morning on the roof terrace: coffee, tea, fresh juice, yogurt, pastries, pancakes, marmalade's, etc. On request they will cook you an excellent four-course Moroccan dinner for only E 20. Fabrice knows how to cooks, as he has been the Chef in several high rated restaurants in France. All five rooms are beautifully decorated and equipped with Moroccan furniture. The bathrooms are spacious and supplied with amenities. Everything is impeccably clean.
To conclude, Villa el Arsa absolutely merits its high ranking on Tripadvisor's list of hotels in Marrakech!

I stayed with a girlfriend for two nights in April following a trekking adventure into the Atlas Mountains. We arrived late on our first night but Noel met us at the door and, realising that we were tired from trekking, led us to our very comfortable room so that we could shower and change for dinner that we had pre-ordered. The food was excellent - orange blossom soup, chicken tagine and a saffron and chocolate fondant. The location of the Riad is excellent and around a five minute walk from the main square.

The rooms were nicely furnished and it was very clean. Breakfasts were lovely and simple and served on the roof terrace.

My only comment was a slight "lost in translation" issue with the owners. My french is not brilliant and we were leaving at 1.30pm to get a taxi back to the airport. We had presumed that we could stay in our room until 1.30pm following a conversation with Noel the day before, but at 10.55am, whilst we were sitting on the roof terrace Fabrice informed us we needed to be out of our room by 11am (rather brusquely). Luckily we had packed up most of our stuff and this was fine. We did go out to the market and came back and used the cold, but refreshing plunge pool and changed before our porter arrived.

We had not been given any information by Noel or Fabrice on check out times, and it was only when we were leaving did we see information about the Riad by the front door (it was very dark).

Perhaps the Riad information should be put in the rooms for guests to see more clearly.

This communication issue would not stop me from thoroughly recommending this Riad. I would definitely consider coming back to this riad again.

Room Tip: All rooms are nice and furnished in true Moroccan style. It is slightly noisy with the Call to pray...

Villa el Arsa is conveniently situated in a quiet street yet only 5 minutes walk from The main square. The road has had a recent makeover and is beautifully clean, well presented and tastefully furnished.
However, it's the welcome to Marrakech that will make the difference. Noel met us at the taxi point, led us back to the riad and made us so very welcome. He took us on a guided tour of the medina, pointing out places of interest, where to (and where not to) eat and where to shop. We'd recommend Le Jardin restaurant - not easy to find but we'll worth the effort. We'd also highly recommend eating in the riad as Fabrice is an amazing chef (he also runs cooking classes) and Simo, the breakfast chef, provides a beautiful breakfast including Fabrice's luscious homemade jams and marmalades.
We wanted to go into the Atlas Mountains but not especially on a tour bus. Noel arranged a private tour in an air conditioned taxi which we'd highly recommend. Our driver, Adil, spoke good English and took us on a 9 hour breath-taking tour of the Atlas Mountains. The tour cost 1000 dirhams (about £76) for 4 including petrol cost! An absolute bargain!
Thank you Noel, Fabrice and Simo. You made our stay in Marrakech an excellent experience.

Stop searching and choose Villa El Arsa and you won't regret it. If a first time traveler to Marrakech, you will get all the support you need from Noel & Fabrice. We stayed three nights here in March and thoroughly enjoyed it. Beautiful riad in a central location, but still extremely quiet and very tastefully decorated. The real Moroccan feel and just a very short walk to all the action Marrakech has to offer. Very kind hosts with a flare for design and they will do anything to help the guests. We did a cooking lesson and it was wonderful. We went to the market, chose the food, went to a spice market, cooked our dinner and were served our creations that evening next to the fireplace. Very romantic and peaceful with also excellent music. I love their selection of music! Our meal was the best meal we had in two weeks in Morocco! Rooftop terrace is lovely for lounging around and very quiet and private, as well. Breakfasts in the sun every morning with an excellent selection of breads, jams, pancakes, and really good coffee. Nothing is too much trouble for Fabrice and Noel and they really care about their guests and their satisfaction and well-being. Noel's English is good and Fabrice speaks French and some English. Their assistant, Simone is also great. He took us to a spice market and to the very local market to buy veggies and meat. Noel told us a lot about Moroccan history and he and Fabrice are truly interested in the people and the culture. Oh, if you order dinner here, you won't be disappointed. We had an excellent three course meal served again in the lounge with a fire going and great music. Just us alone. Fabrice's cooking is amazing and he takes great pride not only taste, but presentation. Our room was very cute--we stayed in the Princes room with two beds and a real authentic feel. Love the tadelakt effect in the bath and would like to learn how to do it at home. We had an excellent three nights at El Arsa and would highly recommend it to our friends looking for a city trip. Oh, Noel also gave us advice on driving in Morocco--we hired a car for our trip south across the Atlas and it's also wonderful in the country. Don't be afraid, get out and explore.

Marrakech in general is exciting and interesting. You can walk and walk for hours and never be bored. The only negative is the aggressive motorbikes that clog the small narrow roads and alleyways. They're polluting and dangerous. Additionally, you can only take so much of the souks where, even if interested, you don't ask. Once you ask to see something or even turn your head in its direction, you're a target. There are also lots of people who try to 'guide' you and it's best to shrug them off right away. Get lost, it's part of the fun. Give yourself plenty of time to stop, have some refreshment and watch the scenes unfolding in front of you. We didn't find the places we chose to eat particularly good, but the food at El Arsa was fantastic. Seems that everything is watered down to tourist tastes and the spices that Morocco is famous for, well, aren't used. Thanks for a great stay, Colleen and Werner / Basel Switzerland

We spent five nights at this riad in the heart of Marrakech. The riad is several alleyways back from the main streets, but this is part of its charm. Once you've found it the first time, it is easy to find again, and it is a really quiet oasis away from the bustle of the medina and the square. Rooms were comfortable, with nice bathrooms and good wifi. Tea was regularly served after a busy day sightseeing. Breakfasts were served on a nice terrace overlooking the city. We had dinner there one night: it was delicious, the best food we had in the city. The two owners are very helpful and charming. All in all, a great place to stay.

Riad Villa el Arsa in Marrakech was just delightful. Noel & Fabrice have pitched the level just right, they are there to help as much as you wish, providing maps and info and even putting a mobile in your room in case you get lost in town – very comforting if this is your first trip to Marrakech! The room was superb and breakfast very good. I wish we’d eaten there as I gather the food is fab (Fabrice was a chef in France before) and does offer cooking lessons which you will need to book ahead of arrival. Wonderful fires lit at night in the sitting area where you can swap daytime experiences & good company. They recommended a superb little restaurant in Essaouira with good food and music.

Room Tip: There are only 4 rooms and all equally nice.
