“Better Locations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2012

Just arrived back from Marrakech this afternoon, its mad there but great fun, you have to go and experience it for yourself, food market at night is mad!!!! preferred going to the cheap eateries up the alleys, food to die for. Head for the Kosey Bar for a bear or two after all that walking, it is quite hard to find alcohol, but you know what, it shows we do not need it . Any way, back to the Dar Rassam, lovely place, staff go out of their way to help (one night the guy who works there, took us to a bar as we could not remember the way) as nice as it is, there a better and nearer ones to the square, the walk back all the time does get annoying sometmes, but as I mentioned that was the only down side, do your re-search.

“avoid unless you want to be robbed!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2011 via mobile

Generally the riad is excellent, the decor is amazing and the owner Simo was adorable. The seating area on the roof however was covered in yellow stains which was explained by the strong smell of cat pee. There were also only 2 sun loungers, which would have caused some issues I imagine if the riad was at full capacity (10-12!). Luckily the 2 of us had it to ourself all week.

The location isn't great, and I wouldn't recommend staying in the old town medina unless you have your wits about you, as you will be heckled, sworn at, followed by drug dealers or hassled by false guides.

The major problem I had was having £40 stolen from my room, which they don't provide locks for. It had to have been the housekeeper or one of her numerous friends that seemed to wander in and out constantly, however the owner Simo was clearly disturbed that this could have happened and even gave me some money to try to make up for it, but the damage was done. Other than that, mainly very good...

“could have been better”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2009

The rooms were spacious, and the staff were friendly and polite. The rooftop area was disappointing though, it was in a really bad state when we were there.

Not the best location, it was extremely disturbing trying to navigate our way back to the riad at night because the little alleys to the riad were not lit.

Also, be sure not to fall for one of the riad owner's traps. The meals offered were way overpriced, you can definitely find better tasting ones around the area at a much cheaper price.
Don't pay and go for any of the tours that he suggest either, because he charged us more than 3 times what the other tour agents were charging.

Wouldn't recommend this place unless you're desperate for a place to stay because it gets really annoying how the owner tries to rip you off for almost everything

“Lovely Hotel but location isnt the best”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2007

The hotel is an absolute diamond in the rough, the Riad spills charm and the staff are lovely! all the rooms a authentic riad style and all in fantastic condition/new, the roof is a lovely place to sit and read a book or go downstairs and sit in the open roof eating area, its small and cozy!! the only down side is the location, it is in the heart of the medina and you have to walk down small narrow dark ally ways, i would recommend staying here with a group then you will have no problems, to be honest all the locals are lovely however it is still a littel scary and some parts you will need a torch, after about 10:30pm the streets are dead with the occasional drunk wondering around.

this is the ONLY down side to the hotel everything else was absoultely amazing!
