“Perfect in every way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

During our 5 day stay in the Riad Safa the high expectations created by reading the favourable review were fully realised. The riad was lovely in every way and the service impeccable.
Francoise and Abdul were unfailingly helpful and considerate.
Francoise arranged for us to be picked up from the airport and Abdul walked us to the riad. We highly recommend this service. We also recommend experiencing the meal on arrival it was delicious. In fact we had three evening meals all of the same high quality.

There is a lot of choice when it comes to picking a Riad in the Medina but you will not be dissapointed by Safa. Excellent welcoming service, we were provided with maps and advised on landmarks to look for as markers. The old town is crazy and it was a bit of a shock to the system as i felt really hassled so going back to the calm, peaceful and clean riad was great after a day out exploring the city. Breakfasts were excellent served on the terrace and the plunge pool was a relief from the sun. Call to prayer speaker on top of the riad can be a bit annoying but it should be expected somewhere like Marrakech.

I couldn't have been more impressed with our stay at the Riad Safa. Francois is such a friendly, welcoming lady and put so much effort into helping us feel comfortable and helping in all ways she could. As two young women we were a little nervous of travelling in Morocco but she quickly made us feel at ease and gave us all the advice and information we would need in order to keep safe and find our way around. The Riad provided us with maps of the local Medina which is so chaotic and without them we would have been completely lost for how to navigate - maps we'd brought from home didn't explain in enough detail the markets and alleys. The location was perfect for us - we wanted to be amidst the action of the Medina and we very much were, the Riad is just seconds from streets of noise and colour and culture. However, once the front door is shut, the chaos disappears as the Riad itself is so peaceful - it really is the perfect place to escape to at the end of the day whilst never being far from the action. I really cannot highly enough commend the service we recieved - Francois was always willing to help us organise our excursions and let us borrow the telephone to make some local calls to confirm. She also recommended restaurants which were incredible!

The only small comment I would make is in no way a criticism but a reassurance - upon arrival we were met by Abdul who walked us from our taxi to the Riad. We were not aware who we were going to be meeting or where we were going and were quickly led down some dark alleyways (we arrived in the evening) by a man we hadn't heard of, which as two girls of 19 and 20 was a little unnerving. However we were so wrong to worry as he brought us to the beautiful Riad and really was the loveliest man. Just to reassure anybody in future - do not feel nervous when you get lead down the alleys, I promise you are on your way to a beautiful, peaceful Riad hosted amazingly and you will feel silly for worrying once you are there.

My trip started with four airports, three continents, two airlines, one haircut all in twenty-five hours. Now after all that I needed something calming and relaxing. I was not to be disappointed.
After exiting customs in Marrakesh we easily found our pre-arranged driver who lead us to a comfortable mini van that brought us into the old section of the city. I highly recommend this service for the peace of mind is well worth the minimal expense.
Inside the old city walls the driver took us to an area where there was waiting Abdul who guided us through the maze of ancient winding alleys to a nondescript door and lead us inside.
From the noise and crowds. From the seemingly confusing traffic, twists, turns and endless doorways we entered into what could I can only describe as Peace. Peace from the very first step into the Riad Safa.
Our arrival was later in the evening but the kitchen was expecting us and after a short check-in and few moments to compose ourselves we found Abdul had set out a comfortable and soothing nook for us to enjoy our first dinner together in, what we would soon learn to be, the beautiful, mind wrinkling, Marrakesh.
The next morning we met the most beautiful Francoise who in short time sized us up and suggested a few options for our first foray into the streets and markets of Marrakesh. A more professional, knowledgeable and personable hostess I have never met, and in the madness that is Marrakesh knowledge is a very valuable trait indeed.
The Riad itself I found to be as comfortable as my own house, with some luxuries that I must admit I wish I had at home. Family oriented this place is not. Nor is it handicap friendly. But these are not deficiencies but merely a fact of location and antiquity.
The location lent to seeing us walking a great deal which is exactly the best way to experience the old city, both the markets for the foreigners and the markets for the residents who inhabit this ancient city. The location was also such that if we wished to venture outside the old city taxis were to be found just a short walk away.
A final shout out goes to Francoise and Abdul. These two with their attention to detail, their local knowledge and their genuine smiles made an amazing place all that much more amazing.

There are so many riads in Marrakech, it's hard to know which to choose! We were glad we picked Riad Safa.

It was beautifully decorated and well maintained by the lovely staff. The roof terrace was an oasis at the beginning and end of every crazy day (lovely to be able to buy a cold beer here - it's not so easy in the city). Breakfasts (on the terrace) were a highlight - a mix of Moroccan/French foods and different every morning.

We'd definitely recommend getting picked up at the airport - it's not the easiest place to find the first time (where is in Marrakech?).

One thing: be prepared to be woken every morning by the very loud call to prayer from the PA system next door! A lot of reviewers mentioned this, but it wasn't a problem for us - we just went back to sleep and it's all part of the Moroccan experience.

Room Tip: We stayed in two of the rooms - both were lovely but "Zenna" was a little nicer - bigger a...

I had been meaning to for a while write a review for Riad Safa - we stayed back in July 12 (before I was familiar with Tripadvisor) so this is quite overdue! However I wanted to say how wonderful this Riad was, along with our hosts and how our first trip to Marrakech was made so memorable. It's no surprise that for first timers Marrakech is quite a shock to the system! Entering Riad Safa for the first time was such a peaceful oasis, beautifully decorated and with such charm. Our room was great and the roof terrace with small Jacuzzi/splash pool came in handy for the very hot days! A lot of afternoons when the sun was almost unbearable were spent relaxing in the pool! We loved the attention to detail from the maps given to us on our arrival and tea/drinks to the wonderful breakfasts each morning - we truly felt spoilt! If the place was fully booked we wouldn't have realised as we had so much freedom in the Riad and almost felt like we had the place to ourselves.

We also loved Peggy and Kermit! If your looking to stay anywhere in Marrakech for an authentic experience with comfort and tranquility pick Riad Safa.

I stayed at 4 other riads during my time in Morocco and Riad Safa was by far my favourite. The riad is beautifully and tastefully decorated, as well as clean and a peaceful getaway from the medina. I always looked forward to the deliciously fresh breakfast every morning. Francoise was also extremely helpful, personable, and lovely to talk to.

My only wish is that I could have stayed longer!
