“Beautiful riad - not the best location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2014 via mobile

We stayed in this riad as a treat for ourselves on our last night in Marrakech. It is a beautiful place, with very friendly polite and attentive staff. We loved our room - only slightly disappointed that we had paid extra for a larger one but it was still small. Location is right next to the souk which is great during the day (though it is very easy to get lost so you have to keep your wits about you!) but after 10pm when the souk closes and it's dark it actually felt a little iffy trying to find our way back from the main square. In fact we got lost and had to ask a few people for help to get back (who then demanded money - which we wouldn't give). When we finally did find our way back we met another couple staying in the riad who had also been lost!! We were all a bit stressed out by the experience.
Overall though, a lovely riad but there are others just as nice and in better locations, for less money.

As a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children) we spent a wonderful 4 nights at Riad Assouel. The staff were brilliant, charming and helpful. We were given very good advice on great places to visit and even guided to a restaurant one evening so we didn't get lost! The rooms, pool, dining area and roof terrace were beautiful. A perfect oasis of calm in Marrakech.

Room Tip: Toubkal was a beautifully decorated, comfortable double room with a nice bathroom. The three child...

We stayed here for 3 nights in mid June with friends. We all agreed that we couldn't have chosen a more charming, well positioned and well appointed Riad for this, our first stay in Marrakech. From the moment we arrived, until the time we left for the airport, we found the staff so helpful, friendly and efficient.
The building was well maintained and very pretty.
It felt like a real home from home every time we returned from the madness of Marrakech. The food served was great, and the evening meals we had were fantastic. The belly dancing evening was special too.
I'd recommend a guide for the first day or half day. Not expensive but very worthwhile!
Very very good Riad!!

If you want a real marrakesh experience then this riad is in the perfect place. Inside it is quiet and tranquil and very well looked after. The plunge pool is heated and nice to jump in and cool down after seeing the sights. It also has a nice roof terrace for either sunbathing or relaxing in the evening with a cold beer. The room we had was very nice in traditional morrocan style, and air conditioned. On arrival the staff were very friendly greeting us with mint tea and sweets. We arrived very late but the cook stayed on to make us dinner. The next morning the owners arrived to greet us and let us know the different excursions available and what restaurants they recommend they are extremely nice people and made us feel very welcome.
When you step out of the Riad you are in the traditional old part of marrakesh with narrow streets and donkeys pulling carts, we never felt unsafe at any point even late at night but should you wish the Riad staff would escort you to restaurant's and also arrange for an escort back especially handy to stop you getting lost. In all a great place that I would recommend to anyone visiting marrakesh.

Stayed at Riad Assouel with my two daughters for three nights. Although this Riad is pretty small compared to others that I have stayed in, it is clean, serves a lovely breakfast and the staff are very helpful and friendly. We had a lovely hammam and massage and enjoyed a fantastic day trip to the Atlas Mountains which the staff were happy to organise for us. The only problem that we encountered was trying to find our way back in the evenings ! Would definitely recommend Riad Assouel.

Have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Riad Assouel. Such a lovely Riad, beautiful decor, in a fantastic location. The team of staff were so helpful and friendly, they couldn't do enough for you and they always had a smile. The food was lovely - breakfast was delicious and we also had lunch which was yummy, with a good selection of wine. The rooms were all clean with lovely crisp white bed linen. I had a massage which was divine - really recommend fitting in a treatment if you can. We were a group of 5 women and each night when we went out we were escorted to our taxi and then when we arrived back later in the evening we were greeted by a member of staff who walked us back to the Riad - very thoughtful gesture. We had a day trip to the Atlas Mountains, visited Kasbah du Toubkal, with a short mule trek - amazing scenery and definitely recommend a trip to this area. The Majorelle Gardens and the Berber Museum were also lovely and worth a visit - really nice little cafe for an afternoon cuppa. I have no hesitation in recommending Riad Assouel - a beautiful and tranquil place. A big thank you to All of the team there for making our stay so fantastic.

My friend, my daughter and I spent 3 days at Riad Assouel. We chose this hotel because of the great reviews on TripAdvisor and we were not disappointed. We were a little apprehensive when our taxi driver (organised by the hotel) brought us to a small, hectic square and then took us off down some ever narrowing alleyways. Once we stepped inside though, the staff did everything they could to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. The location relative to the sights of Marrakech is perfect. The food is very good. The staff will arrange trips for you if you want. There was a great spa facility and we enjoyed the Hammam scrub and full massage. The terrace is great for relaxing on and swimming in the pool is encouraged.

Room Tip: There are only 8 rooms so quite exclusive. The Ourika room that we stayed in had two windows looking...
