“El Mansour is a gem in the middle of the Bazaar rocks”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2013

In over 40 years of world travel, it would be difficult to have had better service than at the El Mansour. Wadi and the rest of the staff are people who take pride in their service and friendliness. Being that this was our first visit to Morocco but having had Moroccan food prepared in the USA, we dined nightly at the hotel for a home cooked meal experience. The menu is comprised of Tagine prepared food items and by selecting your choices in the morning, the items are purchased and prepared for the evening meal from fresh items found at the local markets. The rooms are well appointed and we stayed in the only ground floor room which allowed us to enjoy the pond and seating area with drinks and snacks prior to dinner. Getting to and from the Riad to the airport were arranged by the staff and can be added to the cost of the stay. Walking into the Medina is a cultural experience. If bazaar shopping is not your thing the newer section of Marrakech is either a short taxi ride or a nice walk. We had a nice addition to our stay as one of the owners was there and we spent time sharing our travel experiences with him in person, He was as congenial as the staff.

Booked this as a surprise for my husband birthday with 6 friends and we were not disappointed. The yoga used a great traditional meal as well as all our transport to save using taxis.
The raid is beautifully and well decorated and is about 15min walk when you know your way, roads are easy once explained and we enjoyed seeing the souks and locals.
Thanks to Abess and hugs staff for a great experience.

My family (7 adults and 3 children) stayed at the Riad El Mansour for 3 nights during late October to celebrate my parents 50th Anniversary. Wadi, and all his staff were professional and very accommodating and made our stay a thoroughly enjoyable one.

The rooms in the hotel were beautifully furnished and comfortable as well as being kept impeccably clean and tidy throughout our stay, so special mention here to the cleaning staff who worked tirelessly throughout the day.

Special mention as well to the cooks who served up delicious food during out stay.

Marrakech is a wonderful and fascinating city, but if you are short on time like we were, ask Wadi to organise a guide to show you around the city and also excursions to the mountains and to the coast.

It's been two years since my last trip, and it was, once again, FABULOUS!!! I can't tell you how beautiful the city is...with the hotel being the crown jewel. Surprisingly, the staff was still the same, and they welcomed me back like family, particularly Abdess and Wadi. Their desire to make sure i was happy, well-taken care of. Surprisingly, as we were returning guests, we received a lovely bottle of wine, upon our arrival. Given that we were exhausted when we first arrived, we had an amazing dinner served in our suite... (Amber). (btw... a GREAT DEAL... as we booked it online.) and well-worth the upgrade.

If you are into massages, get one here. I forgot her name, but she was very petite. I thought she would not be good, as a result... but she was terrific and very strong. It would have been nice, if we could have had them in our room, but the spa is quite lovely... so why not?

This time we did a few excursions. Essouireria, (a really charming city by the sea), and the waterfalls in the Ourika mtns... YES.... more hiking...Bring your boots... Hiking for all levels can be found here!!

Next time, i really want to do a desert trip. And yes, the hotel will arrange all excursions, if you would like...

Having just returned from a 3 day break to Marrakech staying at Riad El Mansour in the Jonquil Suite I have to say, that it is not often that you can go away and be so enthralled with the accommodation. It was from the initial enquiry via email, that I was convinced we'd chosen the right place to stay. The email responses from Wadi and Abdess were always prompt, clear and helpful. The level of attention to detail remained throughout the time we were staying at the riad.
The fact that we arrived so late, dinner was provided and a birthday cake for me was really going above and beyond all expectations. We were collected from the airport and met personally on the street by Wadi and walked through the abundance of streets to our safe haven for the next 3 days.
As two lone females, we were daunted by the adventure of heading out alone, but we were quickly put at ease after a detailed map session with Abdess providing clear and precise instructions for how to navigate back to Riad El Mansour.
The additional staff and taxi service added to the welcome feel to the place and we were never made to feel that any questions, queries or requests were too much trouble. The Riad El Mansour is immaculately clean and this is from someone who can find the smallest speck of dirt. Not even a spider web existed within the place! This effort is all down to a charming lady who is smiling and cheery as she goes about her day. Our breakfast was served in the only way that can be described as a restaurant, where you are provided a menu to select your choices. I was expecting a buffet, but as with everything about the Riad, you get so much more than you expect.
The surroundings and decor are beautiful and you really feel as though you have landed in a 5* hotel. I cannot fault the place and staff alike.
We enjoyed the cultural experience of Marrakech, even down to the haunting prayer calls to the city in the early hours...oh and the cockerel! We booked a tour guide on the first day which is highly recommended to get your bearings in this rabbit warren city of streets and busy pavements of bikes and taxis. An all informative trip to the souks left us with a taste of the haggling to be done when we went alone and we were given very helpful advice. Our guide was informative and encouraged questions about the city's history, but being that it was built so early, I was in awe of the architecture and staying power of buildings that were so old.
I would recommend to stay at Riad El Mansour to anyone venturing to Marrakech because as the reviews will tell you, nothing is disappointing and the service never falters.

Room Tip: Jonquil is the twin suite for those not wanting to share a bed. All other rooms are doubles and ver...

My husband and I wanted a relaxing holiday away from work and we got exactly that. On arrival, we were served Moroccan tea on a sunny terrace and the hotel manager Abdess sat down with us and helped us plan the route to all the places we wanted to visit. We were so delighted that we had received such excellent service right on arrival. Our rooms and the whole of the hotel was so clean and well presented, with fresh fruit and bottled water every morning. All the staff, were so warm and welcoming and nothing was ever too much for them. Our restaurant reservations and taxi's were arranged by the hotel staff. We took advantage of the hotel Hamam (spa), we both had a massage. I don't think we've ever felt as relaxed as we did in the spa. The riad food was so delicious, we ate traditional Moroccan dishes and we'd like to thank Wahid for e-mailing us the recipes. The hotel and staff made such an impression on us, and we will definitely be coming back.

I travel frequently throughout the world, with and without family, in accommodations ranging from 5 Star deluxe to budget basic. So when I say that Riad El Mansour is special, it's based on a reasonable amount of experience. Set in the tip of the Marrakech Medina, the rooms are well appointed and a beautiful courtyard (with plunge pool) and terrace are at one's disposal. If you have not stayed in a Riad before, note that the central courtyard is open-air; you will awake in the morning to sunshine and the sound of birds greeting the day (including the neighbourhood rooster). Despite its historic character, amenities are not sacrificed--wi-fi and air conditioning, etc. are present. It is a masonry building, so the wi-fi signal doesn't penetrate evenly everywhere, but that simply meant we spent more time in the courtyard, listening to the birds sing while checking our email and perhaps enjoying a spot of tea.

The location is perfect--the Riad is about a 15 minute stroll to the main square, and roughly the same distance to the heart of the newer district. My wife, young son and I walked to both areas during the daytime and after dark and never felt unsafe. Dar Moha, an excellent restaurant for a special night out, is an easy walk from the Riad and occupies the former home of designer Pierre Balmain. If you go, book ahead and ask for a table outside by the pool. It's expensive by Moroccan standards, but you'll have a wonderful evening.

What truly sets El Mansour apart, however, is the kind and helpful staff. (This includes the owner Robert, who takes real pleasure in conversing with his guests and was a font of trustworthy local knowledge.) The team wrote to us before our trip to arrange our transfer from the airport and dinner for our first night. However, they never pressured us to eat at the Riad or use other services there--this is a real problem we have encountered with other places in Morocco. On arrival, Abdess sat down and walked us through the basics of navigating the Medina and shopping in the Souks. All were unfailingly helpful throughout our stay--whether arranging a guide for an excursion to the Atlas Mountains, booking a restaurant on short notice, or cooking up delicious meals for us. In a city where the pressure of navigating both the geography and local norms can be taxing, returning to such warmth is truly a welcome respite. If you're coming to visit Marrakech, it would be hard or do better than this.
