Hard to say enough about this establishment and the staff. First class experience that you will never forget. Whether it's your first time to Marrakech or a return visit, you will want to stay inside the medina; the Dar Charkia is perfectly situated inside the medina walls. The riad itself is beautiful; incredibly well designed and the staff is meticulous. You couldn't have a more authentic or pleasurable experience.

First time visiting Morocco already welcomed by the culture, however once arriving to Dar Charkia it had finally hit me how beautiful and cultural Marrakech can be. This beautiful Riad that already feels comfortable as soon as you step foot through its doors, once entering you feel as though you have entered into a whole different world. Welcomed with a smile and a beverage, you are then shown to your rooms, each room with it's own individual style and unique atmosphere of comfort. The staff at the Riad are also most welcoming and friendly, helpful, polite and always willing to be of service, Michael and Lisa the owners of this beautiful establishment are also great with offering information on best locations for activities, sites to see and importantly places to eat where you can experience authentic and traditional Moroccan food. The Riad provides all essentials for example toiletries such as towels, shampoo and shower gel, all ready to use and among other facilities such as a gorgeous pool where you can take a nice morning or evening dip to relax after a long day of activities and site seeing, the great feeling of being able to come back to a place that becomes your home, is something I feel on this holiday to Morocco was one of the highlights of my visit. To conclude I feel that anyway that wishes to look for a get away, then look no further the Dar Charkia is the place to stay, not only is it perfect for romantic get aways, it is also perfect for a nice group retreat where you can relax and unwind. It truly is a perfect Moroccan getaway. Rich

I stayed at Dar Charkia with a group of friends (12 of us in total) last week for a birthday celebration and it was, in a word, perfect. The moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed in to the beautiful Riad, served traditional mint tea, shown around our rooms (which all had charming bespoke decoration, with authentic and traditional influences) and given a hugely helpful and informative talk (which was in addition to the email correspondence we had received prior, offering suggestions for activities, places to eat, best cash exchange places and personal recommendations from the owners Lisa and Michael). As a large group, we had the entire Riad to ourselves and it truly felt like a (luxurious) home away from home and the perfect place to spend time amongst friends in the somewhat chaotic but vibrant and exciting city of Marrakech.

The location of the Riad itself is nestled in the heart of the Medina, in walking distance of the markets and Souks but off set on an unassuming passage, as to provide peace and tranquility after busy days exploring the sights, scents and sounds of the city. The Riad was well equipped with all essential facilities and Lisa and Michael provided annotated maps in each room to further enhance the quality of our trip. As a result, in our short stay we packed in a spa day with traditional Hammam & Gommage and full body massages, off-road quad biking, a day in a retreat in the Atlas Mountains, as well as venturing into the Souks and partying to the early hours at a nightclub and live music venue.

Above all however, the constant highlight was being able to wind down in the beautiful surroundings of Dar Charkia. The courtyard decorated with beautiful tea lights in the evening was pure bliss and breakfasts spent on the roof terrace, lounging in the shade of the bedouin tent were a magical and ideal setting to wake up to.

This holiday will be forever embedded in my mind as one of the most beautiful and outstanding I have experienced, thanks in no small part for our decision to stay at Dar Charkia. A huge thanks to Lisa, Michael and their wonderful team and no doubt my friends and I will return for years to come!

So all in all, I would urge anyone looking for an effortless, totally relaxing but holistic, authentic and interesting stay in Morocco to enjoy the wonderful Dar Charkia for the perfect Moroccan getaway.

We spent 4 days days in Michael and Lisa's beautifully renovated Riad. The service was outstanding and the advice we were given was very helpful and contributed greatly to a most interesting and pleasent stay in Marrakech.

As this was my first time visiting Morocco I was quite nervous about what to expect and having little knowledge of the area. However, all my worries disappeared after receiving my first email from Michael and Lisa where they gave me invaluable information about Marrakesh and answered all my questions to incredible detail.

From the minute I stepped through the large wooden door of the Dar Charkia I was lovingly welcomed by Michael, Lisa and their friendly staff. My friends and I found ourselves speechless as we took in the magnificently stylish and luxurious ambience. Exploring the Dar Charkia it is clear to see the stunning attention to detail that has gone in to creating such a beautiful, relaxing and romantic atmosphere throughout the whole riad. From the tastefully restored architectural features to the elegant hand crafted soaps in the en suite bathrooms, the Dar Charkia encases its guests with luxuries from Asia and Africa.

The food I experiences at the Dar Charkia was some of the best I had throughout my trip in Morocco. Each morning the wonderfully attentive staff served our group breakfast, catering to all our needs and dietary requirements, creating the most perfect way to start out day and fuel us for our adventures around Marrakesh.

The Dar Charkia is an oasis nestled in the heart of the Medina. Being only a 2 minute stroll away from the famous souks, the Dar Charkia was perfectly located, allowing us to explore the old town and find some of the charming shops and restaurants personally recommended to us.

The Dar Charkia gave my group and I a wondrous, comfortable and enjoyable experience in Marrakesh and without doubt the most recognisable feature that allowed this to happen has got to be Micahel, Lisa and the staff. Having Lisa go through the annotated map of the Medina, supplied in an information pack in our rooms, allowed us to to feel incredibly safe and informed when embarking on our trips around Marrakesh. The welcoming staff went above and beyond to make sure each one of our holidays were perfect from the moment we stepped in the door, to our sad goodbyes at the end of our stay. I could not have asked for such a caring, high spirited and professional group looking after me and my friends and I will continue to highly recommend the Dar Charkia to all my friends, family and anyone looking to have a stunning break in Morocco.
