“A memorable week”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2012

This riad is a haven of comfort and hospitality in Marrakech's lively and colourful medina. We loved the great breakfasts and airy, spacious rooms and relaxed on the sunny roof terrace or in cool corners by the little pool. Lisa and Michael are the most attentive of hosts, so well informed, and - together with their brilliant staff - went out of their way to ensure we had a great week in Dar Charkia. They arranged a wonderful trip to the Atlas Mountains and also a couple of birthday surprises for our daughter. The only negative would be that for us, the beds were a little firm. We relied on Trip Advisor reviews when making our booking and are glad to pass this on as 'Highly recommended'.

Having had such a fabulous time last year, I returned to the wonderful Dar Charkia for a few days of relaxation.
The hosts - Lisa and Michael were as warm and welcoming as ever, making you feel very at home and part of their family
The service - Everything you need is provided straight away by Lisa and Michael and the amazing staff at the riad. A map is provided on arrival that tells you everything you would ever need to know about Marrakech, and anything that needs booking or sorting out Lisa will do for you in no time
The atmosphere - The courtyard is a very tranquil place to be and it is lovely to sit out for the afternoon with a glass of wine and a book and soak up the sounds and smells of Marrakech
The bedrooms - Very stylish, comfortable with an African touch. Perfect

Thank you Lisa and Michael for another wonderful stay xx

Dar Charkia is a beautiful riad and Lisa, Michael and their team offer a warm welcome and fantastic service. The courtyard is a lovely place to relax and the rooms are spacious and very nicely decorated. The location is perfect with all of the main attractions within walking distance. I would definitely recommend this as a place to stay and we also found that all of Lisa and Michaels's recommendations were spot on!

I just returned from a 3 night stay at Dar Charkia with my Mom in celebration of her 81st birthday. In advance of our stay, I exchanged emails with Michael and Lisa - the owners of Dar Charkia - asking for guidance in making our travel plans and receiving outstanding information about what to see and do during our time in Marrakech. From the time we arrived until the time we left we were treated like family. Michael and Lisa are incredible hosts, so welcoming and eager to share all they know about Marrakech to help their guests to have the best experience. We also had a fantastic dinner at the hotel with a vegetable tagine that we're still talking about - it was delicious! I can't recommend this hotel highly enough and look forward to returning on a future trip to beautiful Morocco.

Dar Charkia is an oasis in the middle of the busy souks. The riad is beautifully done, with lovely rooms and wonderful common spaces to enjoy the weather, a cup of tea and a good book. The location is perfect - just steps from the souks and from a key pick-up point for those of you doing any kind of tours. Lisa and Michael are energetic, interesting and very accommodating. They know the ins and outs of Marrakech, and will help you to plan a fantastic trip with the insider's perspective. My mother and I had constant questions which Lisa, Michael and their staff were always happy to answer. If you are planning to travel to Marrakech, I HIGHLY recommend Dar Charkia!

My husband and I stayed here for our 10th anniversary. OMG all the reviews are spot on, it really is an 'Oasis of calm' after the hustle and bustle of the souks. Lisa and Michael are as lovely as the reviews say they are. I would absolutely stay here again. the staff are soooo efficient, kind and helpful, they have restored my faith in mankind. And of course we absolutely loved Morocco! Thank you Lisa and Michael.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Suite, but had a peak at all the rooms - they were all lovely and clean.

Here's a list of all I will miss at Dar Charkia.
The fantastic freshly prepared breakfast!
Lisa and Michael's superb daily tips on where to go and what to do next ( if it hadn't been booked for us already)
The tranquil comfortable surroundings beautifully decorated, and topped off with a superb selection of relaxing music playing in the courtyard.
The freshly prepared lemonade with lychees and mint.
The staff, who are always polite and tremendously helpful, arranging transport and booking restaurants.
The roof top terrace which is a lovely place for a spot of sunbathing or retreat from the sun in the terrace sun gazebo.
I discovered it too late to try more than once, but Michaels favourite barber around the corner, who gives a terrific cut throat shave.
It is an amazing place to just chill for a day during a busy break or holiday. And we did just that, with little or no sound from the outside other than the odd bird singing,  Every possible need, request or question is dealt with.
This has very quickly become a place where we will definitely visit as often as we can for short breaks or week away. You can never get bored.
Lisa & Michael are excellent hosts and it's lovely to see the kindness and care they not only show to their customers but staff as well.
