“An architecturally stylish hotel; but definitely not 5*.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2012

Location: 7
In a reasonably good position and within walking distance of the main attractions in Marrakech.

Style and design: 8
Plenty of original features reflecting a bygone age.

General maintenance: 7
Generally not to bad but certain areas do need attention.

Room / suite: 8
Plenty of room in this Royal suite with a comfortable bed and large sitting area.
The air conditioning units are a bit out of date and quite noisy.

En-suite: 6
In keeping with the style of hotel, but could be improved upon.

Public areas: 7
Seems to be plenty of secluded areas to sit and relax, although some of the furnishings are a bit uncomfortable.

Public toilets: 4
Not very good – best avoided!

Food: 6
Limited choice and average quality food with a high price tag.

Staff and service: 6
Lack of training is evident.

Cleanliness and hygiene: 5
Could have problems here, with the various flying insects and birds trying to share your meals and not forgetting the cat in the kitchen!
Look out for the bird poo on your table and chairs!

On site facilities and activities: 6
The roof top terrace has a small Jacuzzi style plunge pool (very refreshing).
The kitchen overlooks the pool on the ground floor!
The library has a limited supply of books and the various game boards seem to be missing pieces.

Excursions (arranged by hotel): 5
The only excursion we arranged was a trip to a local supermarket to buy a new suitcase. We ended up being taken to the local tannery!
Never again!
The other excursions available look rather expensive.

Value for money: 6
As usual with these hotels the food and drink is very expensive.
You have to budget for tips. Everybody seems to want one!

Total points awarded: 81

The Review Cat quality rating for this hotel: 63%

The Review Cat star rating for this hotel: 4*

Would we stay at this hotel again: No
This is more to do with the fact that we would not want to return to Marrakech.

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the Royal suites, some of the other rooms did look a bit small.

Dear Review Cat,

Thank you for staying with us recently and for your valuable feedback regarding your stay. We are saddened you did not enjoy your stay with us even though you liked your Royal Suite our public areas and the Jacuzzi on the roof top.

We wish to take the opportunity to sincerely apologize for the discomfort you faced during your stay. Please be assured that we are following up all mentioned matters to avoid any future repeat.

Nevertheless I wish to clarify that our Associates are very well trained as this is a standard of our Group. Once more thank you for sharing your observations with us.

Marrakech is a maze and the journey to our Riad was confusing. Upon arrival we could not have received a better welcome from Abdella and his staff. Throughout our stay they were always attentive and it was just a sheer pleasure to stay there. we decided to have a hammam and massage at one of their other riads which was only a short walk, and this was a really enjoyable experience. our weekend break ended far too soon but left us determined to return, and to stay at an angsani riad, hopefully the riad si said, which is excellently positioned in the city.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2012 via mobile

Both myself and my partner have travelled to Marrakech previously but decided to give the Angsana collection a go this time. We were met at the airport by the pre-arranged pick up (very friendly chap who looked after us at the airport) and made our way into the basking gorgeous sun.

Upon arrival to a small, busy typically over crowded street our driver informed is to stay in the van until the riad staff met us. (This may sound like a small detail but Marrakech is so different that it's an excellent way to edge yourself into the culture by looking and taking it in first and not by being dumped off in the street)
You enter the riad and it is everything you could want, the beautiful, white and orange curtains draping along the pillars, the mint tea on arrival, the smartly dressed staff who all smile at you, the sweet and perfectly sized court yard pool. Everything is how you would want it to be.

Rooms are fab - we stayed in a basic suite but all rooms are lovely and typically Moroccan. We did get a chance to look round a royal suite and if you can afford it (Room 104) has to be the room to choose). I simply have to mention the cleaning staff, they are simply fab, they clean the room very thoroughly once a day and then do a turn down service in the evening again cleaning the room. Abdellah, the riad supervisor also deserves a mention, he is always on standby to assist whether that be to organise a table booking, more minibar items, an iron etc. Fantastic service.
Do try the food in the courtyard for either lunch or dinner, tajines, kebabs etc all fantastic quality.
For peace of mind the staff also issue you a mobile telephone upon arrival with Abdellah's number and the riad office's number programmed in case you need there help or if you get lost around the souks.
We did some serious research when booking this holiday and we will both return in the future to this amazing riad, especially since while we were out here it was my partners birthday.

Don't hesitate... Book your trip here!:)

My husband and I just returned from our first visit to Marrakech. We had heard about Riad Si Said from a colleague and decided to stay there. We loved it! The customer service offered by Abdellah and his team was amazing. They were helpful with arranging dinner, car transfers, and showing us around the neighborhood. The Riad itself is just beautiful. We loved our room (#4), and the property, especially the roof terrace, are just exquisite. We can't say enough positive things about the Riad Si Said and the team there. We have only been home a few days and miss it already!

Stayed here with husband and 2 teenage offspring for long weekend after Easter. Staff incredibly accommodating and helpful without being at all intrusive. Owned by the Angsana group who have ecofriendly credentials. Riad beautifully restored and refurbished by local craftsmen. Delicious food and despite being only a five/ten minute walk from main square Si Said was very quiet and the walk to the square is up a road flanked by interesting shops selling jewellery, bags, rugs etc. We, like Stephen D, also opted for a day trip into the Atlas mountains to see the Berber villages and market. A wonderful trip and look forward to a return visit before too long.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Royal African Suite (1 king size and 1 twin room on either side of a sitting room...
