“Short stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

Arrived late after travelling from Casablanca. Riad was hard to find at night and staff was sound asleep when we finally got there, so had to knock on the door for about 10min before the receptionist woke up. Room was small with a even smaller bathroom, and it was absolutely freezing since we visited in January. Cranked up the small heater provided, but it was too small to actually get the room warm quickly. Got up early next morning since we had booked an excursion, and had to wait quite a long while before the breakfast was served. OK breakfast, but compared to other riads it was boring and not impressive (room for improvement). All in all, ok riad but there are certainly much better and service minded riads to be found in Marrakech.

Thank you to Lolita, Mohammed and Fatima. We had a fantastic stay at Dar Maia. The riad is perfectly located, 5 mins walk from Jemaa el Fna. Lolita and her staff are more than happy to provide information and even went to the train station to pick up tickets for us! Never experienced this service before. Breakfast on the roof terrace was delicious and the coffee amazing! After enquirying about the brand of coffee Lolita gave us a packet to take home.

I would definitely recommend Dar Maia and will be going back there very soon :)

It´s the second time we´ve stayed at this Riad and we´d come back again. The location is perfect, just five minutes walk to Jemaa el Fna square but in a quiet street. One of the best things of the Riad is its terrace where you can enjoy the sunshine while listening to call to prayer. Lolita, the owner, will let you everything you need to know to enjoy the city and will make you feel at home. This is the perfect place for couples or small groups of friends. We´ll definitely come back.

Room Tip: Imane has direct access to the terrace. However, Salma room is bigger and more charming with Arabic...

Riad dar Maia is a fab place to stay in Marrakech.Breakfast on the terrace was lovely. The view from the solarium - the highest part of the roof was magical, we enjoyed watching the storks flying home every evening. Lolita and her staff are so friendly and helpful. They will help with everything and sort out trips for you. It's in a perfect location and we had such a great time there. Highly recommended.

How to survive in the hectic and loud marrakech? find a place where you can escape whenever you seek respite. Dar Maia trully offers the opportunity to enjoy the madness of the medina while experiencing the quietness of a maroccan dar (home). the place is full of character and the service is excellent. my only advice for new visitors is: make sure you know where you are going. once you have the address, finding the place is very easy...otherwise it might take a while to get there as there are no visible signs! Have fun and pass my greetings to Maia (the turtle in the garden!!).

I love Lolita. She is the Dar Maia Owner/manager, and is just charming, always smiling and at our service. She's also a great team manager. Her team, Yassine and Mohammed, speak Spanish, French and just enough English for us to communicate. Amina communicates with sign language and warm smiles. An intimate, 5-room Riad perfectly located at a 5 min walk from the main Plaza and the souks. Marrakech is just so great, we love it - staying at Rias Dar Maia makes it like a home away from home. I highly recommend this place.

We arrived as a party of six to celebrate a landmark birthday of mine & were welcomed with charm & simple efficiency. A wonderful place to stay, quiet & peaceful but central to all the fantastic Marrakech bustling sights & sounds. Breakfasts & rests on the always sunny rooftop terrace were especially poignant.
Lolita & her staff are simply fantastic & deserve all the praise I can give - I would certainly go back to Marrakech & would certainly stay at Dar Maia again. Love to you all.
