We were met at the airport and hand delivered to our Riad door through narrow alleys and arches. So we extremely surprised when the riad door opened and we were met with our inner courtyard of delight. a tinkling water fountain and apple tea with biscuits, and a warm wlecome from our host.
Our rooms were absolutely beautiful and true to the website pictures. Very spacious. The only problem I had at all was that I was taller than the bathroom mirror and the bathroom lighting was a bit too soft for me.However I forgave all of that for the appeal that the room had as a whole.
We had dinner on the rooftop terrace three times during our stay, and each time the cook, Rachida, outdid herself. For the price it was outstanding, and I would have gladly paid more, alot more. A traditional Moroccan three course meal for 17 euros just on sunset, listening to evening call to prayer, on the rooftop terrace was unforgettable. Oh and when I say rooftop terrace, its an understatement. The night lighting and setting is very atmospheric if not romantic.

The riad has a few guides which they use. We used one in particular called Hicham. He was very good and we would rexcomend him to anyone. We hired him for a few days and went to the Ourika Valley, quadbiking, camel riding, shopping and a few other little things. His prices were fair and his knoweledge was extensive. After he got to know us a little he went off the beaten track sometimes and was on the button.
The hotel staff are extremely helpful but speak little English. We managed over 7 days to communicate through my bad French, their bad English and some phone calls to Hicham to interpret.
Coming back to the Riad after a day out or being hassled in the souks was like walking in to a little oasis of peace and quite. This place is great value for the money, I mean great.

My boyfriend and I picked this hotel as a more luxurious end to our holiday in marrakech, having seen it's wonderful reviews all over the internet (aside from the location) and seen the photos of the terrace and jacuzzi.

In order to find the hotel be prepared to get angry with the locals. on leaving the taxi we were mobbed by butch looking locals fighting over us and our luggage to show us where tho hotel was. after agreeing a price of 20DIRHAMs we quickly found the riad was and then were asked for 20Euros before the local got rather forceful. Essentially the riad is not hard to find, had there been a map.

Once inside the hotel we were greated warmly and shown our room. We were soon disappointed by the building works on the terrarce - including builders and building materials strewn around and were only told once in the jacuzzi that it wasnt working and would not heat up or bubble. Neither of these flaws were we informed of on arrival.

The room was very pleasantly decorated and air conditioning a great relief from the outside temperature of 45degrees. However the bed that should've been a double was two single beds pushed together - and this was the same in the other available room that we checked (also listed as a double).

The receptionist was polite and apologetic but was not allowed to offer any kind of compensation or good-will for the building works around.

On the whole it is a nice riad, if it was all working, but very disappointing at this time!

We had an absolutely perfect stay at Riad 02, the staff were friendly and welcoming and the place itself was just stunning, a wonderful and romantic place to relax after a busy, hot day in the Morroccan sun! The Terrace and splash pool were idyllic, the sound of the trickling fountain and the evening candles in the courtyard was soothing, and we we enjoyed the whole experience, which was totally unique, and like a dream!

Moad was extremely hospitable, he took us to see the England World cup match at the local bar, which was such an interesting experience for us, and a nice personal touch from him. We loved the beautiful design of the room, which was very comfortable and spacious.

I particularly admired all of the attention to detail you have put into the Riad, with so many nice small touches, decoration of the terrace, the shower, sunbeds, lanterns, candles, plants, cushions, - and really appreciated all of the fine finishing touches of the Riad's look.

Although we did not make use of the array of services you offered, (excusions, evening meal, driving service) it was nice to know it was an option.

Had a wonderful time, and will be recommending Riad 02 to all of my friends. One of the most unique and beautiful places I have stayed.

Thankyou!

Jen

Myself and a friend stayed at the Riad in May on our first trip to Morocco. It was a great place to stay, with friendly service and great food. It was difficult to find our way around but that would go for anywhere in the medina as the streets are very confusing. We always had someone show us the way back though with no problems. We were welcomed with the traditional tea and treats/ Oh, and the beds were great as were the showers, which we later learned not to take for granted!

The riad itself is lovely and very comfortable. I speak only English, while most of the atff, except the manager, Moad, speak chiefly French, but for the most part it went just fine. Smiles, greetings, and please/thank you is clearly universal. It was a bit of a walk from the djemaa, and takes a couple of trips to figure exactly how to find the way. I'd recommend it more to young to middle-aged people in good shape who would find it to be a pleasant 10 to 15 minute hike even if tired from a long day, versus older, or less able people who might see it as a 30 minute or more struggle while carying their shopping finds of the day.

Some of the other reviews mention the maze of alleys to find it. This is true. But it is true of almost all Riads, the djerbs are just how marrakesh's medina is arranged and should not be seen the way a darker alleyway is looked upon in a large European or American city. As a Norwegian/American, I can tell you there is a big difference. Kids and youths hanging about are no threat, and I felt completely safe the entire time in marrakesh despite being a solo traveler and walkign alone everywhere, even at late hours of the night. The worst that can happen is that someone might be really clingy about following you to try to give directions or sell something, or otherwise beg for money, but just ignore it and keep walking. Nobody will do anything to you.

I also HIGHLY trecommend eating both in the djemaa in the evenings, as well as at small alleyside food stalls. look for places packed with locals, they know where to eat. In the daytime, around lunch, if you go northward along the main bazaar alley from the west side of the place d'epices (spices plaza open court area, just go due west out to the main crossroads and turn right. just keep followign it north until it veers a bit diagonally off to the left and keep going a few more meters. You'll get to another little open court area that is full of locals havign their lunches at tiny little restaurants that may only seat one or two at stools along a wall counter. find one with a lot of locals once again, and look at the raw meats and choices the cook has in his display case. Point at something that looks fresh and nice and he'll cook it right up for you. I had the best brochettes of lamb I'd had in my entire vacation along with bread and a salad and coke for 30 dirhams. dirt cheap and amazingly good.
